This place is perfect for who's looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay. If you love nature and silence you'll enjoy the rooms in front of the sea, the sound of the waves and the beautiful landscape. Six rooms and the restaurant are close so you can have breakfast or dinner comfortably in front of the sea. Every room is very simple but wide, with a little terrace on the sea with table and hammock. It's not the most clean place I've stayed but I enjoyed so much the location. Every morning they do bread in the oven just close the restaurant. The owner always offered us fresh fruit from their trees and everything is been very relaxing. Perfect for who loves camping, nature or silence.

I am female and was travelling alone when i visited Karpathos during April when it it very quiet, arriving at Pine Trees with my tent with the intention of camping as free camping is advertised on their website (i am a student and travelling on a very tight budget). The proprieter was extremely charming and friendly when i arrived and said i was the first guest this year and insisted i stay in a room - for free. I was overwhelmed by his generosity and appreciatively said yes. He also insisted i eat with him and his housemaid. This was all very lovely... However, things started to turn a bit strange on day two (i stayed 3 nights). On each of the days i was there, i did my own thing all day and returned in the evening (i wasnt getting under his feet). He increasingly made it clear that he resented me getting on with the housekeeper for some reason and this started to add some tension to the atmosphere. He also seemed to be showing signs of being increasingly angry - shouting at everyone who phoned up and at the housekeeper and just generally being angry. He didnt shout at me personally, but being around someone raging at everyone doesnt create the most comfortable of atmospheres. Also, sometimes i would ask questions and he would just dismiss me with his hand! Or he would dismiss me when he had had enough of my company and tell me to leave (i should add here, i wasnt around very much at all, and i am a quiet person - i wasnt being a pain). He gradually became angrier and odder as the days passed until i started to feel a bit afraid... On the morning of me leaving the atmosphere was extremely tense and i couldnt wait to get out of there. I had bought him a bottle of wine to thank him for letting me stay and for feeding me but out of the blue he demanded money off me "for the food", (which he had insisted on me eating!!) 30 euros! Which somewhat dented my tiny budget. I was actually a bit afraid of challenging him due to his increasingly scary demeanour and me being alone. He could be extremely charming but also quite scary. In all honesty, i did wonder if he had lost his marbles! The hotel is very isolated and i was the only person there and felt quite uneasy. There is no wifi so also felt pretty isolated. It was all a bit odd and uncomfortable.

Beautiful position, good food but the owner seems to have lost it! We were asked (no, forcibly told) to leave one evening because we asked for a light bulb to be replaced in the bathroom. He tried to fit large screw bulbs into small screw fittings & then said we must wait until morning & do without a bathroom light through the night. The aircon fan had to be started by pushing a stick through the louvre & flicking the fan till it started. We were told that we should only ask for things to be corrected in the morning not when there were customers around at other times of day. A good business being spoilt by the rudeness & insensitivity of its proprietor - reminds one of dear old Basil Fawlty. The pressure has become too much for him & unfortunately his mind is going.
