We booked this a 2 night stop gap as we were meeting a big family group in another part of Rethymno. The prices looked good and we liked the fact that it had a private pool. We expected it to be very basic and that it would just be a bed for 2 nights but oh my goodness, it’s so beautiful!
The villa is very well equipped with soap, loo rolls, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid etc and plenty of space around the pool and 2 terraces (one upstairs balcony). There are 3 tables for dining in total and a full fridge, hob, and great kitchen.
In arrival there was water, fruit juice, raki, wine and beer for us.
The views are stunning and it’s so peaceful. We would definitely return and next time for a longer stay.
A special mention to George and his wife (owners) who very kindly drive my mum to the local taverna and back because she is awaiting a hip replacement op.
One tip - a car is essential for this location. We didn’t have a car as we are going to a villa near the main Rethymno area but the surrounding roads are very hilly and very steep.

When you look at the reviews you can see we are returning peeps, and there are many reasons for that. The place is in a great location (fabulous views: Psiloritis, the sea, and the sunsets), and the host is an incredibly hard-working, honest and great person along with his family. If you need something, just ask, and rest assured he can present a suggestion or solution. We had Villa Vaso again (featuring new bathrooms), so for those who are not familiar: Ground floor living room with a kitchen and a small bathroom with toilet; first floor two sleeping rooms with a larger bathroom and also a walk-in shower and toilet, plus a washing machine). We are a family of 6 (kids 6, 14,15, 16), and there is enough space if one of the kids sleeps on the sofa in the living room. The house has two terraces on opposite sides of the villa, which confirms the brains that were used when it was built: In the morning you get the morning sun on one side, and in the evening you can enjoy the evening sun on the other terrace (along with a beautiful sunset). The pool is large and has a small baby pool separated from the main one with a metal fence. There are several deckchairs, and a grassy patch with nice flowers and bushes as well. #1 and only place for us in Roussospiti.

Another fabulous holiday with George at his Aloni Villas. We are now usually staying in Villa Vaso (2 bedrooms on the upper floor) as it offers a small babypool along with the big main one, making it ideal for our youngest. The villa and garden are in excellent condition, very clean, and the kitchen offers everything you need to cook Greek delikatessen yourself if you so desire. There is ample space to eat outside for a family of 6. WiFi is excellent all over the plot, too. Roussospiti, while in the mountains off Rethymno, is nevertheless an ideal location to explore Crete from. Great beaches are within 30-45 minutes drive (Bali, Damnoni, and more), and many historical sites can also easily be reached. For us and our family, this is the perfect place to stay. Thank you very much!

Following our tradition to spend some of our summer holidays on Crete we were staying with George at his Aloni place again.

This time we had Villa Vaso. It features a split pool, one for very young kids (ideal for example for our youngest, 3 yrs old), the other for everybody. The house itself is similar to the other villas - 2 floors, with open kitchen/living/dining on the ground floor, and 2 sleeping rooms on the first floor (you can fit three beds into both rooms, so families with 3 kids or 4, if the youngest still wants to sleep close to their parents, can easily book this villa, too). Both floors have bathrooms with toilet and tub/shower, with the bathroom on the first floor being considerably larger. The ground floor offers two terraces, one facing east, the other to the west, and the same goes for the first floor, where one of the terraces is shared between the two bedrooms.

Everything was excellent "as usual". While these words sound like a prayer wheel, they are not meant as such - with George's hospitality you can only always feel at home, starting from the welcome gifts to him being there for you no matter how small the need you may have - all of which will simply make it an outstanding experience.

The location (Roussospiti) itself is close to Rethymno (the second road, which will bring you directly into the city, is now open again), on a hill overlooking the sea and the city. From some of the terraces you can see the Fortezza, the White Mountains, and Psiloritis. Beaches around Rethymno as well as cultural sites in the same prefecture can usually be reached within an hour or less.

5***** throughout, thank you!

We stayed at Villa Vasos( Aloni Villas) and it was beautiful, clean and had lovely views of the mountains and coastline. We had such a wonderful rest and enjoyed the local cuisine in the nearby tavernas. There are also fantastic beaches and restaurants nearby. I would recommend this holiday villa to anyone. George the host was very accomodating. Hope to return soon!

We have just stayed in villa Clío II at Aloni villas. It is one of the nicest villas I’ve stayed at, spotlessly clean throughout and had a really well stocked kitchen. The outdoor space was great, with several balconies and patios which caught the sun throughout the day. My boys loved the pool, which was just the right temperature. The views were amazing over the mountains and sea. It was a 10-15 minute drive to Rethymno to see the sights of the town and get to the beaches. There is a small supermarket in the village and two tavernas nearby. The owner, George, was very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended!

I booked directly with the villa and have consistently contacted the owner to confirm booking to be told dont worry its fine all is booked in. Then to be told 30 days before the our visit they are now double booked. Really really disappointing we truly believed that we could trust this person. Iv travelled to many places in greece and never been let down and this is truly really disappointing to be let down so last minute.

We stayed here in June, the villa (Eva) was spacious, clean, tidy & bright. There are numerous areas for outside dining, relaxing & just taking it easy. Views amazing, both day & night, the only place ever we have stayed in on a Saturday night, pizza on the veranda, bliss. The owner is very helpful, ( great when l lost the ability to use a washing machine!) Friendly & generous, home made wine & olive oil etc on arrival, pool area great, village great, would highly recommend this place, just leave a space in the year for us please!

We booked direct with the owner and paid on arrival. villas are fully equipped with washing machine dishwasher etc. all villas have a private pool. we found the villas when looking for somewhere to get away from the world after a death in the family. It was exactly what we needed. a quiet location high up in the hills overlooking rethymnon. Thomson used to cover aloni villas but were expensive. we book direct and save hundreds. Ryan air fly to create also and it becomes a cheap holiday. George the owner can also put u in touch with his friend for car hire. again saved me a couple of hundred in car hire. You will fall in love with roussospiti village and the wonderful Aloni villas.
