We’ve just had an amazing 11days at Petradi Beach and here’s the different aspects broken down:
Rooms: Get a sea view room!! Pay the extra as it will change your holiday. The sea view rooms all open onto views of the pool, beach and sea, and the beautiful views of Rethymno Forte in the distance. The front of the hotel is on a busy road which I’m sure can’t be as nice and would be noisy. The rooms are bright, modern and are immaculately cleaned 6days a week. There is a hanging rail and a single stone shelf (above the fridge) but no drawers or other storage. We took collapsing storage bags to keep our clothes tidy and they worked fine.
Pool and sea: The pool and pool area are cleaned every day and always look tidy. The pool itself doesn’t open until 10am, but you can sit in the sun beds around it from any time. The pool area leads straight to a private stretch of pebbly/sand beach which also has free sun beds. We had days of still sea, and also days of rolling waves. The lifeguard station on the beach puts flags out about the sea safety. It was great fun in the waves as the water is quite shallow for a long way out. There is a pebble bank in the sea and a few guests had sea shoes, but we managed over it fine (albeit slowly to not fall over as they are smooth but uneven).
Food: We stayed bed and breakfast and there was plenty of variety of food at breakfast time. No full English, but a nice mixture of breads, hot food, cereal, fruits and fantastic coffee. The snack bar food was also good value for money as the portions were huge (and tasty)! We often had one dish between us.
Local area: It’s a 20 minute walk into the Old Town of Rethymno, and it’s well worth it as the old Venetian streets are beautiful with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. We often asked reception to book a taxi there (€5-7) and then walk back. Walk on the other side of the road as the path is wider. There are also some amazing restaurants a 5 minute walk from the hotel (turn right outside reception and after 2 mins, follow the path down) They were some of the best restaurants we went to, but they are slightly more expensive than some in the Old Town. Visit the old Forte as it’s well worth it for the views (as well as the history)
Staff: All the staff at Petradi were amazing!! A real credit to the hotel. The reception staff always ready to help, and the bar and waiting staff worked so hard, but always smiling. We didn’t see the cleaner, but she did a great job.
All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, but make sure to get a sea view room (with a balcony, not a terrace). It’s a perfect quiet get away

We have just left from a week at Petradi Beach Hotel. We were disappointed to say the least, when booking the hotel we had the option of a balcony or terrace, there was no choice to select a sea view room. Upon arrival, we were given a room facing the main road which is extremely busy 24 hours of the day, the balcony (if you could call it that) was tiny and we couldn’t sit out on it for the whole of our stay.
The breakfast was awful. One day we came down for breakfast 30 minutes early and all of the “hot” food was already out. It was very disappointing and we had to eat out for breakfast each day even though it was included in our stay.
The pool and beach area is very nice, it is very chilled but there is nowhere near enough Sunbed’s for all of the guests in the hotel.
The location of the hotel wasn’t great, it’s a 20 minute walk along a very busy main road to get into the old town, there is no beach front to walk on. You can get a taxi for €6 or the bus for €1 which was handy. I would definitely recommend doing this to save the walk along the narrow footpath which is also combined with a cycle path.
Despite the room, balcony, noise and breakfast letting the hotel down. The old town and the restaurants along the front are lovely and definitely worth visiting.

We have just come back from our amazing stay in this hotel. The location is perfect if you are happy to have a 20 minute stroll into the main town, or even get a taxi (7/8 euros). The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and welcoming (we didn't get the name of the young girl on the desk but she was lovely). The rooms are quite basic but for a week stay they were perfect if you are not in your room too much. As we went in October the pool area was quiet and was perfect for relaxing in the day. The breakfast is just a standard European breakfast, perfect for just grabbing a bite to eat in the morning. The sea is right on the doorstep. The pool area has a snack bar (salads, pizzas, gyros) and was really high quality food. There are also amazing restaurants surrounding the hotel - which were amazing (Taverna Galera, Prima Plora and Karnagio). Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short break. For the price, we were so so impressed.

The lady on reception, Katrina was most welcoming and full of enthusiasm, she showed us around the whole hotel and into our room while explaining all the facilities. The rooms are spotless and well maintained albeit a little basic but huge bed, fridge and lovely bathroom. All the staff are very welcoming and helpful and there is a private beach and pools with free sun beds and umbrellas. Towels for the pool and beach are provided too free of charge. Breakfast is simple but delicious and food from the bar is reasonably priced and very nice too. I would stay here again anytime and recommend.

Beautiful small hotel and lovely staff By the roadside we had a sea view which was lovely rooms at the back can hear the traffic Enough beds for guests not always enough space outside for breakfast though Pebbly beach so take beach shoes Location great to walk into the old town Can walk this in 15 mins Hundreds of shops bars restaurants so we visited every evening and got a taxi back for about 6 euros 2 hour transfer from heraklion airport Great location for trips as pretty much 2 hours from heraklion and 2 hours from balos beach and elefanissi beach Which were stunning Few restaurants a bit further down from hotel also Breakfast at hotel basic but sufficient Lunch ok not much choice but large portions Small cove just down from hotel 2 minute walk no sun loungers but nice and peaceful if you take towel to lay on the sand Crete is Beautiful stunning place with the scenery and the trip to balis and elafanissi beach is advised Take walking shoes as you have to walk from thd coach to the beach down a mountain Rude through the mountains on the coach is stunning Overall great experience and i have been all over the world One last thing take extra hangers as not much storage but manageable and wasnt a problem No kettle facility but we took a travel kettle and bought a greek mug Fridge in room and also a shop few doors down and also a coffee shop next door Bus tickets can be purchased from coffee shop and cost 1 euro to the old town each way Be mindful there is a scenic bus number 20 which is the coast road and passes the hotels however there is also a national bus which doesnt lass all hotels. We realised this as a cost of 35 euros after getting the wrong bus and got off in the middle of nowhere and had to get a taxi back

We had a lovely two-week stay at the lovely Petradi Beach Hotel. We arrived very late at night and the friendly night porter showed us to our rooms. We were made feel welcome the following morning by the reception staff who were always very helpful and friendly. We got information and bookings on trips and local restaurants. The room was compact, clean and comfortable with good AC, TV, hairdryer and fridge. It's a little short on storage space but very manageable. The room was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent maid service. It is a one-mile walk into the old town. If you don't like to walk there is a bus stop straight across the street with a regular service which costs €1.20. The breakfast buffet is good with a wide choice of hot and cold food. Breakfast on the beach every morning was a delight. The pool bar menu is good with plenty of drinks and food choices. We loved the Salads and Club sandwich washed down with a half litre of chilled white wine. There are also some really good restaurants in the locality. Overall a great hotel and a great holiday. Thank you to all the management and staff of Petradi Beach Hotel.

We chose this Pension because not far from the city it will take you 20 minutes to reach it on foot in a very noisy street.
The rooms are not too bad redone and clean. We have a room on the sea and it is nice.
For the rest... nothing to lay down the minimum union business. Very poorly soundproofed with continuous road noise. PDJ side not bad even if the eggs are jet-lagged, the sausages overcooked and the chemical orange juice.
The "restoration" and horrible we took half board and I regret it. On the first evening, pork cutlets were overcooked and hard like wood with PDT, and the day after the lamb, but there were only bones.
The pool bar Awards are a deterrent, 6€ per 5 cl of rosés and a pint of beer 7€! It is a shame to serve plates like this. To flee.

This was the best place my husband and I have ever stayed. We have a really warm welcome and we’re shown around on arrival by the receptionist. This hotel is right on the beach and has sun beds and parasols which are all free of charge which is always a bonus! Towels were also supplied free of charge too! The rooms were basic but had everything we needed as a base. No proper wardrobe, but plenty of hangers supplied. They were cleaned every day apart from Sunday too, so great for getting rid of the sand out of the shower! The fridge in the room is an added bonus to keep water and other drinks in. The only issue we did have was the breakfast which was poor. The bacon was hardly cooked and not much variety, so lived on fruit and yoghurt every day. The bar snack menu was good and the food was amazing, and reasonably priced too. Perfect hotel if you want peace and quiet but close enough to walk into the town at night (20 minute walk or 6 euros in a taxi) We will definitely be returning to this hotel and the beautiful city of Rethymnon.

This was our 4th stay at Petradi, and very sadly will likely be our last. We have loved coming to Petradi since 2019, we even stayed here with over 20 of our friends and family when we got married in 2022. Refurbishment was completed on Petradi after the 2022 season ended, and this was the first time we had returned. We were very disappointed to say the least. The rooms are no longer fit for purpose- no storage at all for any clothes or anything for that matter. No cupboards, no drawers, no bedside cabinet, no vanity table. The tea/coffee facilities are no longer provided, there are not even any drinking glasses in the room. The pool refurbishment is nice, however there are not enough beds for the amount of guests. Food is no longer served after 3pm and the bar prices are extortionate. The reception staff, as always, were lovely. They are so friendly and an absolute credit to Petradi. The bar staff we found quite rude and unhelpful, and the bar prices increased drastically. Breakfast, which used to be one of Petradi's best features, is now very poor. We write this review with sadness, as Petradi has always had our hearts. Sadly, we will not return.

This hotel is the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The staff are the stars of the whole place, keeping it beautifully clean and doing all they can to make your stay lovely. Eva makes the best aperol spritz while the kitchen makes a mean gyros and club sandwich. The pool area is small but perfectly formed. Yes the beach is stony but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of the bay and the view over to Rethymno old town. And did I say the air conditioning is fantastic! It is a short walk into the old town (20 mins) which we loved or a cheap taxi ride. Altogether, we have lived our stay at Petradi beach! If you want flashy, don’t bother. If you want a lovely, genuinely Cretan small hotel experience then I would absolutely recommend a stay here x

Lunch is not provided. We did bed and breakfast which was perfect for us as we wanted to eat out at night, and comments were that meals weren’t great at night.
There are more places to choose from in the Rethymnon area.
