La Stella is a cozy, well maintained hotel. The staff works very hard, as they are understaffed. Special thanks to Natasha and Babbi! They are two people you absolutely want to have in your business!! During breakfast, everything you need is there. (We personally didn’t like the coffee) At night the bar is pretty busy because it is a lot of fun!! However when there is a night you won’t decide to go to the bar it might be a bit noisy, thin doors make it difficult to isolate the sound from outside the room. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend La Stella for your holiday. (Quick tip: If you come to Greece, rent a car!!)
We love coming to La Stella, it’s the perfect place for our family. Small and friendly with wonderful staff - Babis especially! Our kids love the pool and the chocolate milkshakes - it’s all they really talk about. A great place to use as a base to explore the island, the team are always happy to give you the best tips on what beaches etc to check out. Definitely be returning for another wonderful holiday in the future!
One of our worst travelling experiences ever! All the furniture in the room, all kitchen and bathroom surfaces, its small wardrobe, the cupboards, the chairs, etc. were filthy, even though the cleaner had just finished making the room up when we entered in it. We had to spend about a couple of hours to disinfect the room against Covid. Each day the cleaners did not wear any face mask when cleaning the rooms and in general the people working in the hotel had no idea what disinfection means. The bathroom was another disaster: a toilet, a shower and a sink were all squeezed in an area of approximately 1,5m x 1,5m! Each time we had to shower, sensitive parts of our body had to rub against the dirty side walls or glass separating the shower from the toilet. It is no surprise that the hotel does not show the bathrooms on its website or other booking websites. At breakfast, the small buffet was placed in a semi-closed area, where all visitors were getting squeezed in, spitting droplets over food and sharing the same cutlery to put food on their plates, on their own, without the use of any gloves (that were not provided by the hotel). Between all tables, we even had to share just one bottle of water, as if Covid never existed! Our only consolation in the hotel was the bed and its comfortable mattress. When, on the fifth day, we complained about the lack of cleanliness and anti-Covid measures in the hotel, we got the reply from the hotel owner that he could not force the cleaner to wear a face mask! Again, as if Covid never existed! This forced us to ruin our vacations, search for another accommodation and leave the hotel, at which point the hotel charged us for the rest of the days of our stay, against our will and contrary to our complains, as if it was our mistake that the room was filthy and the hotel kept no Covid measures throughout its premises. By far, our worst travelling experience ever!…
We had a lovely stay at La Stella! Mostly because of the wonderful staf!! We had so much fun with the bartender. The rooms were also very nice and quite big. The only thing we didn't like was how far it was from the old town of Rethymnon. You can however take the bus for €1.20 or a taxi for €9. Allover we loved this accommodation and I would definitely recommend it!!
We didn't realise that Greece closed at end of October as we had not been for many years, so most of the restaurants & bars were already closed or in the process of closing when we arrived. Not great for Brits going on holiday in the October school hols....we will bear this in mind next time when visiting Greece. However La Stella apartments are in a great location to the village of Platanes which has plenty to keep you occupied & also is a short distance from Rethymno town (taxi 9e) or buses. Babi the bar/complex manager is a lovely guy & will make you feel welcome and go out of his way to accommodate any requests. Would definitely go back but in the summer hols next time 😁
