Detailed Reviews
Although a modern hotel, the Achilleon Palace has a classic feel about it, It is situated in a relatively quiet street and is close to the sea and the main shopping streets (check out the patisserie further along the road).
Our room was elegant and restful with a large balcony offering a view of the hotel's lush garden. Bathroom actually had a bath as well as shower and hot water was constant all day, WiFi was fast and reliable. Good breakfasts in a large room adjacent to the garden. Great reception staff. Parking could be a chore but all but once we managed to find a space nearby.
We spent a leisurely six days here and enjoyed every one.

My friend and I had a very comfortable week here. Our room was clean and spacious with a balcony and en suite bathroom. The hotel is a few minutes walk from a lovely beach or towards the town centre and the dozens of bars and restaurants to while away the warm evenings.
The rooftop pool is very clean and cool on a hot day with plenty of tables, chairs and sun loungers. It is a real sun trap though and can get very hot up there. We found mid to late afternoon to be thee perfect time for a swim and to relax after the intense heat of the midday sun had eased.
Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice from a hot and cold buffet, section of teas and coffee and my favourite, fresh fruit. What really impressed us were the Covid precautions in place, the requirement to wear a mask, provision of hand sanitiser and disposable gloves before being allowed to serve yourself.
The staff on reception were so helpful, from answering our questions about the area, showing us where the nearest ATMs and the laboratory where our required PCR test before flying home could be taken, to helping with confirming our pick up time and place for our transfer back to the airport.
Overall a lovely holiday in a very pretty town.

This is a great hotel, not too expensive and offers everything we needed for our 10day holiday.
If ur booking I would ask for a room on the 5th floor, preferably rooms 503, 506, 509 as these have the best views of the harbour. Half the hotel faces the back overlooking the hotels outside dining area but also adjacent buildings. If ur wanting a quiete night's sleepn I would go for these. Traffic noise from the fifth floor where we were wasn't that bad but could be a problem if ur facing the road on the lower floors.
It's a 10 min walk at max to the heart of the old town, about 3 mins to the start of it. There are many many bars, shops and restaurants.
The hotel doesn't have any parking spaces, if ur renting a car and don't feel comfortable parking in side streets or don't want to pay up to 14 euro na day this isn't the hotel for you. We found parking the worst bit. At certain hours 6 to 8pm. It is the worst and we had a 15 min walk from numerous carparking spaces. It was a bit of fun finding a place to park!!. Their are spaces but u need to drive around for up to 15 mins. The main marina carpark is about 14 euro a day, and about 5 mins walk away, there's a second carpark about 100 meters further away, still in the marina but that charges less, we were charged about 6 euro from 6pm to 11am.
Breakfast was good with plenty of selection, no brown sauce if ur British. Plenty of selection though.
Staf couldn't do more to help and we're very friendly.
Out room was great not 5* but it's not a 5* hotel and they fixed within the day the faulty lock on our balcony door.
The hotel qnd entire area felt safe. We didnt use the safe that was in our room, but we think you would need to pay a little for that. Our room had a fridge, so we're able to fill it with wine, chesse, bread and salad etc. There are at least 2 large supermarkets near by that have everything u would need
The pool area on the 6flr is good for couples. But not for young children, plenty of sun beds.
Overall we had a wonderful stay, a great place and base to explore central Crete

+1
We loved this old palace. Some of the rooms have some interesting artifacts and the main staircase is spectacular but the real delight comes from the gardens and the stunning views. There is some interesting statuary including the giant Achilles although the much smaller wounded Achilles is far more beautiful

We stayed there for a week and it was lovely. The staff always on hand to help. We arrived in the middle of the night due to flight delay but still able to check in, they even changed our room to a double bed the next day. The room are clean and very comfortable with balcony (very important to dry swim stuff). On our last day our plane was not until late , so they let us use an empty room to have a shower and change before our flight so we were able to swim in both their pool and sea that day which was so good. The location is perfect as a short walk from town centre, all the sightseeing and the restaurant. Super near the beach too. You can also walk easily to the coach station and the pick up point for the organised tour is 2 min away. The hotel is very quiet at night and the breakfast garden so pretty and good choices. The pool is a great size on the roof with an amazing views my only negative are the opening hours. They are not very clear, the signs and who you asked you get different answers and it does not open until late in the morning so I was unable to have a swim before breakfast or before setting out for the day. It also closed at sundown , so unlike other hotels i have stayed you cannot have an evening swim after a long day sightseeing which is my favorite time to swim. Which is a real shame but that is my only negative about the hotel. The wifi was great in the room.

the hotel is crying out for renovations as it has 4 stars. But the staff is kind, extremely clean, you will get help for everything you need. Breakfast is modest but sufficient. The pool is great with a nice view . The pool is great with a nice (a great solution when there are big waves in the sea) view although upstairs you could do a bar or at least on call

Over two years ago I wired 600 Euros to this hotel to reserve a room for summer 2020 for a conference. When the conference was postponed for a year the hotel said the Greek Govt. would not allow a refund. The conf. was postponed in 2021 and 2022 and I asked for my deposit back many months ago. Excuses, excuses, delays, etc. I had go to the Greek Embassy in Washington for help. Then the hotel said the money was wired but so far more than week later NOTHING. These people WILL CHEAT YOU. Stay away!

Lovely hotel in a great location. In easy reach of both the old town and the beach. The hotel was quiet, due to coronavirus, which meant the rooftop pool area was quiet and the bar wasn't open, but I imagine it has a good buzz in normal times. We enjoyed it regardless and the views of the town are good. Breakfast was good and served with a smile. Beds are comfortable and the room was very clean. What really stood out for us was the staff. All very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

This hotel is what would come up if You searched for ”best hotel in Greece”. The staff is betond friendly and makes You feel at home and at ease, when we went down for our first breakfast they joked when we asked where the breakfast is that it is ”3km down the road” and being somewhat asleep still I almost fell for it, before they broke out into laughter, escorted us to a beautiful garden table and made sure we knew were everything was.
Regarding the breakfest, it is the perfect start to the day, everything is so delicious and You get the feeling You have everything You need for the ultimate hotel breakfast.
When it came to the rooms they are so well kept, the nice staff even sorted the cords of my girlfriends curler and hairdryer.
Whenever we needed some information or guidance they provided us with everything and made sure we knew were to go and what to see.
The staff is so nice and its the little things they did, like the jokes, the sorting of the chords and the friendliness over all that makes this hotel the best one by far!
Words cannot describe how thankful we are for making this holiday so incredible!
Kiitos paljon, from room 207!

We stayed here September 2022.Positives of this hotel is its location,5 minutes from the beach and hundreds of shops and restaurants.Breakfast has hot and cold choices which are very adequate and it is never to busy. The staff are very nice and helpful without ever being in your face. The hotel is very quiet at night with no entertainment if that is what you are looking for.
Negatives,we stayed in room 204 it has the smallest shower I have ever seen so do not go to this room.Rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaning staff were fantastic.Pool is on the roof and there are always plenty of beds.Overall we enjoyed our stay just don’t expect any frills and enjoy the location.
