Jo-An Palace is a recently fully renovated hotel in the very heart of Rehtymno. All rooms have balconies, we were lucky as we could see the sea and the beautiful park from ours. The hotel staff is extremely kind and attentive, our rooms were cleaned daily and all COVID related safety standards were highly observed. A big thanks to Maria who took great care of us at breakfast and dinner everyday, giving us tips and carefully listening to stories that she probably heard a thousand times. The food was of good quality, a good balance of meat and vegetarian options and the menu did not repeat itself once. And of course, the rooftop swimming pool cannot go unmentioned ! Enough space for everyone with a great view of the city.
We stayed here in September and we really enjoyed this hotel. PROs: The location - in city center - if you are looking for long walks in the town and have everything in hand - this hotel is perfect! The beach is 10min away. The staff really friendly - thx Maria for makings us feel like home. Always willing to help and offer information. The rooms newly renovated and comfy. CONs: for us - none :)
Disappointed! Booked half board for August. Rang hotel and advised we are vegetarian family they assured there will be varieties. Whole hotel is recently refurbished and family room specially was specious and was giving feeling of 4 star. However utterly disappointed with limited food options, even after suggesting them for some vegetarian dishes almost same menu everyday for us we end up having food outside for the time. Considering in Greece at this time expect some cooling deserts but no ice creams... You have to order water bottle but can not be served tap water in the evening ( can have it in morning) same deserts until they run out and then new dishes can come out(often 3 days ) Staff was excellent, when advised of our late arrival, they suggested and left snack box in the fridge for is, which was great gesture, they even accommodated our request for late check out. Room cleaning is every 3 days unless you advise them a day before. We had broken glass and I been given broom to clean myself(past midnight), and yet no room services next day, because we haven't advised them a day before !! Overall OK experience but I would not recommend anyone to consider full board/ half board in this place. Even for non vegetarian you will be seeing only 6/7 dishes and same salad bar daily. 5/6 deserts and no ice cream or any such delicacies.. you will end up paying for drinks and water too. And yes no tea/coffee in the room.…
We stayed here for a week half board. We had a twin room at the rear on the second floor that was clean and quiet. The room although in need of refurbishment was a good size but the bathroom was very small with only a hand held shower over a small bath.We found all the staff very friendly and helpful and had no complaints regarding the meals.I am a vegetarian and there were always options for me on the buffet. The location was a short walk from the bus station, old town and sea front. We thought this hotel good value and will be even better when refurbishments are completed this Winter and the Spa facility is working.
We spent here 12 days with my wife and 14 month old daughter. Room was small but cozy, would expect more storage areas tho. Staff was really friendly on all occasions. As for food buffets, the drinks served for breakfast were quite cheap for a 4* hotel. Would expect more quality juices. Dinner buffet was good, desserts were excellent, salads good and for main courses, I’d again expect slightly higher quality of meals, especially for sea food meals. Overall a good experience, mostly due to great staff. Would rate 4.5/5
