In the old town centre, recently renovated, quite clean and spacious. A friendly atmosphere, helpful and kind owners. We stayed there just one night and it definitely was a last minute choice, but the owners was really gentle and they let us using the kitchen and the other common spaces even after our check out. Good for young people, but also suitable for "more adult" people.
I stayed in the hostel for two weeks before my apartment became available to move in. It was really nice two weeks! The staff are super friendly and awesome people. The rooms were nice, kitchen and common areas were great places to hang out and meet like-minded people who were also travelling. I met quite a few travellers who were regulars, that means people who came first time in the hostel like 10 years ago and since then kept visiting that place! If that is not enough proof that the hostel is amazing I don't know what is. :D If you are moving to Rethymno as a student, person etc. I would highly recommend to stay in the hostel first few days - you are not alone the first days in foreign country which can be quite scary and lonely + you get awesome recommendations from staff and other travellers for places to visit and get travel companions as everyone in the hostel also wants to explore Crete. 10/10 would recommend! Got great friends from there and I will go to hostel to hang out if I am ever bored. :)…
I would definitely recommend this hostel. Jacob greeted us, showed us round and throughout our stay was very helpful. The drawers under the bed are great because they are big so you can fit all belongings, lock it away and leave for the day knowing it’s safe. The common areas were a nice place to hang out. The bathrooms were pretty clean, definitely were cleaned quite often, but would get very humid, just had to be in and out quickly. The location of this hostel is central. Would definitely recommend!
Youth hostel in the old town of Rethymno is the ultimate experience for the budget travelers. I have been in hostels all over the Europe and I have to say it is hard to compare after staying here. Welcoming and helpfull staf, modern rooms and functional areas make your stay one big pleasure. Rethymno is lovely town with a lot to offer just ask people working there and they point you directions, you can hike, you can explore the historical richness and you can reach the beach in five minutes. For people who knows what is to stay in hostel is this place the top. I will be coming again. Thank you Youth Hostel Rethymno for making my holiday so amazing.
I stayed at the hostel for 3 nights. The staff was very unprofessional, there was not enough space to lock my backpack, the bathrooms were nasty, the sheets and pillowcases were not clean and there were crumbs of bread on the sheets. A girl that was sleeping in the same room was carying with her chlorine disinfectant. The kitchen is not available at any time, and I didn't feel safe, because the main door of the hostel that was leading to the rooms and to the bathrooms was always unlocked. All in all it was a really bad experience, but it was the cheapest option available at the time (12e/night) and is located in the center of the town. It is a good option for someone that doesn't want to spend a lot of money and that doesn't get easily disgusted.
