Barbara Studios is, and has been, a real Cretan family home, welcoming travelers coming from all over the world since 1969, respecting the meaning of the Greek word "Filoxenia". If you wish to feel like a "Rethymnian", then this will be your real home in Rethymno. :-) In this 1600's Venetian building, the Venetian and Ottoman heritage, the exotic scents and the magnificent architecture, all endowed to us by the lords and merchants who lived here in the ancient times, is still real and is immediately revealed when you step through the front door for the first time. The tradition of hospitality has been alive at Barbara Studios, since 1969. Barbara family's Cretan love, our love, is the same love which was generously passed to us by our ancestors born and raised in Crete, the island and the mother of world's hospitality. Zeus birthplace.

I spent 5 days at Barbara Studios and there was nothing to complain about. My room wasn't one of the recently renovated ones but still in very good condition and I had everything I needed (including a balcony overlooking the peaceful patio). The room was clean and everything was working properly. The best is the situation in central Rethymnon - close to Restaurants and bars and beaches (the next organized one is in about 10-15 min walking distance). Thanks for making it a wonderful stay, Panos and Iro! See you soon!

We stayed at Barbara Studios for 2 nights in October 2019. Our room was spacious, spotless, quiet and comfortable. The couple who run the hotel are very nice and helpful. They gave us great recommendations on dining and places to visit. Rethymnon was a nice town with great restaurants and a lively scene. The hotel is in a perfect spot, close to the water but only a 5 minute walk to most restaurants. Parking was easy. We parked in a town lot near the port, just minutes from the hotel. Staying at Barbara Studios was a pleasure! I highly recommend it!

A very comfortable stay for two nights, room was split level with a small balcony, the roof terrace is very nice and its a great location to explore the town. Parking can be a bit challenging so best to drop cases nearby and then park.

Tucked away from the noise of the main street, you're just 80 yards from the water. With a beautiful view from the rooftop, comfortable loft style surrounds to escape the heat, the best restaurants on your doorstep and friendly, helpful hosts. It's the perfect Rethymno stay.

Perfect apartment with comfy bed! Met by Panos who gave us great advice about where to go and what to do and said if we get bored come back for more ideas. Raki, juice and treats in the room when we arrived and more every other day when the room was cleaned. Lovely Venetian house with a courtyard, roof terrace and small garden converted into several apartments. Very close to the harbour and central to the old town with everything you need from trips, restaurants, shops, ATM etc within a few minutes walk. A home from home with great hosts and thoroughly recommended.
