We have just returned from our stay in Villa Elia 16/08/19 - 30/08/19. We holidayed with friends, there were 8 of us in total. The Villa and surrounding area is fantastic, everything you need is provided - even some additional cakes and pastries are cooked by George's mother. The villa is perfect, and catered for all our family needs - the kids (and adults) loved the pool, whih is larger than average for a villa. There are all the standard amenities you'd expect in the kitchen, including dishwasher. There are 2 bathrooms, one containing the washing machine. I cannot compliment the villa, or the hosts, enough - it was a truly fantastic holiday, helped so much by the quality of the villa. Nothing seemed too much trouble for George and his lovely family - they were happy to help whenever needed. We will definitely be back, thank you! James & Lloyd Family

Everything was perfect and does not need a separate description. The only drop of bitterness was the audible traffic in the master bedrooms of Villa Rogia, but George can't help it ;-) All in all it was perfect, including the Souvlaki booth around the corner ......

We were two families staying at Villa Rodgia for a week in May. The villa is absolutely beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. The decor has been very carefully thought out and it’s a great mix of rustic and modern. We had everything we needed for a great stay with three infants; toys, a separate living space to use as a play room and even gym equipment that we regularly used 😜 Highly recommend a hire car if staying at the villa as Atsipopoulo is a small village uphill about ten minutes from Rethymnon. George kindly arranged our minibus for us. The village itself has all of the basics- a handful of supermarkets, a few and restaurants and coffee shops and a bakery. Lidl is at the interchange about five minutes drive at the bottom of the hill. The outside terrace area is perfect for evening barbecues and the pool is absolutely fab! We had a couple of overcast days at the beginning of our stay which meant that the pool was rather fresh but it warmed up as the day went on when it was sunny. George and his family were great hosts. His mother cooked some lovely treats for us during our stay and we asked her to cook a Greek feast on the last night and she did not disappoint! George was always available if we had any queries and gave great advice on local restaurants or days out. Overall we had a lovely stay and will certainly plan to return to Crete when the kids are a little older and we would definitely return to Villa Rodgia

Stayed here in June for 2 weeks with seven adults and one 4 year old. The villa is exactly as described so a good start. Set in a lovely village just outside Rethymno approx. one hours drive from either airport. Communication with the owner George and his family was easy as they emailed us before we even arrived and spoke perfect English. His mother even had a local dish ready in the fridge when we arrived about midnight and George was there to show us around the villa. One of three set on a private drive behind private electric gates in the centre of the village with bakeries, tavernas and supermarkets all just outside the gates. Parking for 2 cars. There is a lovely private pool with each villa outside seating area with sun loungers ,dining table and chairs with BBQ area. Internally there are 2 ground floor bedrooms, bathroom and open plan L shaped kitchen inc slimline dishwasher, cooker, fridge/freezer and wine cooler. Also dining area and seating area with TV and wood burner. Upstairs two further bedrooms, bathroom and large sun terrace with views over the village and to the coast. The villa has WiFi, air con and a washing machine. Towels and bedding were changed every 3 days and the villa cleaned. Everything was kept in tip top order and George gave us a lot of good information on the local attractions. Bus service if you don't want to drive takes you into town just outside the villa and was 1.20 Euros each way. The best taverna and away from the road was up by the church which is packed by the locals so either book (George will do this for you) or get there early, which is about 8.00 pm for them. When we were there it kept going till 2.00 am. Going up the road there are a further 3 tavernas in the next village about 1 mile away. All are really cheap and loads of food so careful when you order . Local wines and beer (usually Mythos) all good. Typical meal with a couple of beers (500ml) 15 euros. Be careful if driving with the free Raki after every meal in most tavernas. Beaches good, waterparks about an hour away . Rethymno and Chania both very pretty and loads of places to eat Try Petit Fleur in Rythemno really good if a little more in price. Ridiculous size steaks .Would highly recommend staying here. Only thing to be aware of is car hire is not cheap in Crete and neither is fuel, though diesel is a lot cheaper than petrol, also a lot of speed cameras! Had a fantastic holiday, many thanks George and family
