A fully renovated complex of 6 four stars suites, housed inside an old Turkish public bath, commonly “hammam”. Located in the heart of the old town of Rethymno, just at the backdrop of the commercial core of the town. Each suite is one of it’s kind and features a private spa facility e.g. hammam, sauna, jacuzzi. Eastern and Western elements come together, as the structure was converted by the Ottomans on the remains of a Venetian manor at around 1600 a.d. The building has been the first public hammam of the town. It was operational until ca. 1925, and it is the only one visitable today, of the two hammams that existed in town. Inside the Renaissance old town, the hotel is near one of the most important fortresses in Crete, the “Fortezza”, ear the Venetian port and the Neratze mosque and not far from the “Blue Flag” award-winning beaches. For those interested in checking out popular landmarks while visiting Rethymnon, Hamam Oriental Suites is located a short distance from Rimondi Fountain (0.1 mi) and Centre for Byzantine Art (0.1 mi). While in Rethymnon, you may want to check out some of the restaurants that are a short walk away from Hamam Oriental Suites, including Avli (0.1 mi), Prima Plora (1.1 mi), and Alana restaurant (0.2 mi). Plus, during your trip, don't forget to check out Rethymnon Old Town (0.1 mi), The Venetian Fortezza (0.2 mi), and Monastery of Arkadi (0.6 mi), some attractions that are a short walk from Hamam Oriental Suites. You are invited to experience the deafening silence that the centenarian stone walls and arches provide.

Detailed Reviews
The repurposed Hamam is a comfortable hotel in a perfect location for experiencing old town Rethymno. I booked the Hyacinth room because the Hamam room was booked and I’m glad I did. It had 2 huge rooms, with beautiful stained glass windows and a comfortable bed. It had a super roof-top patio with a large jacuzzi. The floors were a nice wood and super clean. Michael was so helpful and welcoming. When he found out we were doing our laundry on the patio he brought us a wash tub, a second clothes rack and clothes pins. He showed us the Hamam room once it was unoccupied. This room was very cool with a domed roof over the bed and would be a fun experience if you wanted to have a steam bath, but I preferred the larger 2 room size.

We had an incredible stay here and were sad when we had to leave. This place is really one of a kind and is very unique. There's 6 rooms and each of them not only look different but also offer different amenities. The rooms are exactly as pictured. Everything was nice and clean when we arrived. I really like how they provide beach towels and a beach blanket. As our room had a mini kitchen we had a few pots and pans as well as basic cutlery and plates. There was also some salt in the kitchen. I asked for cooking oil and pepper which Michalis was able to provide. There is no washer in the room however, a wash basin was provided upon request. They also provided some laundry detergent in the room.
It's located in the old town which was very convenient especially as we didn't have a car. It's a close walk to everything including the main bus terminal (about 8 mins) which we utilized a lot as we did a lot of day trips. There are an endless supply of restaurants, cafes, and shops in the area. It is also in a quiet area so we did not get any street noise. As this is a small family run business, there is no one at the front desk overnight (this was not an issue for us).
Michalis and his father are amazing people. I can't say enough great things about them. If I ever needed anything Michalis would immediately provide it. There was also one day when Michalis' mom Frosso was working the front desk as the other two were unavailable and she was just as lovely. She even saw me walking down the stairs with my luggage and instantly ran up to help me carry it down. There was also a student worker who did a wonderful job. We received a really sweet and thoughtful gift from them upon check out.
One thing I will point out is that if you are booking the Dahlia room there is only one bed and not two as previously advertised. They had done some renovations recently and removed the sofa bed. Michalis said that he will update this info in their listing. There is also no elevator so you have to carry your stuff up the stairs.
I would definitely stay here again if I come to Crete and will recommend this place to everyone I know.

Perfect stay in an old Turkish Hamam, on the ground floor room in the original steam room, was excellent in every way. The attached steam room and shower room, are both largely original, and the sleeping area is both spacious and comfortable. I couldn’t fault this at the price, and location!

Without doubt this is one of our favourite accommodation to stay anywhere never mind in the wonderful town of Rethymnon and the suites are simply stunning. The location is just perfect right in the heart of the old town but inside the Hamam Oriental it is so quiet with a real tranquil ambience. We were staying again in the Cyclamen Suite which really is luxurious with everything you could possibly need for the perfect stay and the past have also stayed in the Hyacinth Suite which is also fantastic with a private jacuzzi on the terrace.
We can't recommend thses suites highly enough and will definitely return the next time we are in Rethymnon.

We are used to package holidays. So glad we didn’t this year. Yes the hotel doesn’t have a pool or do breakfast but you don’t need it. A fridge/ espresso machine and kettle in the room so you can make your own in a stunning room.
We booked the cheapest room which overlooked the street on the first floor. We couldn’t hear any noise from the adjacent street.
The room was so comfortable and relaxing - the more expensive suites must be even nicer!
Extremely comfortable bed / great air con and amenities in the room. Lovely relaxing furniture and fittings. The most unique hotel we have stayed in.
Relaxed, laid back staff in the centre of rethymino. I would highly recommend this hotel for a great price. The cleaner does a great job also.
I’ll never use a package holiday again.

This is just the loveliest building. We stayed here for 8 nights and it was a great experience, even though we did not use the spa bath or hamman. The renovations and antiques make you feel that you are living in a Turkish house. Michalis was the perfect host and so helpful with advice, even finding out things if he was not sure. We were even given two lovely gifts on our departure. You won’t be disappointed staying here.

Rethymnon .. A peaceful, friendly and hospitable town... Inside the picturesque old city streets you find yourself in awe and delight... Hamam suites match perfectly in this scenery.. A 4 century old building, intelligently renovated; spacious CLEAN rooms, amicable personnel and a most appetizing, HUGE breakfast... Thank you Mike and Roula

We had a great stay at Hamam suites in rehymnos. All the (5) rooms are uniqe and with a lot of caracter. Try to get one of the rooms with shower/tab on the roof. Absolutely lovely!!
Friendly staff and great breakfast. A very good location in the old town. the open air movie, a car rental and the busstation is just a few steps away.

Stayed for one night in this recently restored building which was a bath house during the Ottoman occupation. It is a beautiful building, the restoration has been carried out to a high standard, retaining many original features. This is a great location, in the centre of the old town, 5 minutes walk from the Rimondi Fountain, but in a very quiet area, it is also quite inside as there are only 5 suites/apartments. Rooms are a good size with comfortable beds and large bathrooms, some with Jacuzzi, some with sauna, some (but not all) with a terrace. All have a silent fridge and tea and coffee facilities (though you may have to ask for some milk when you arrive). They also have 2-bedroom apartments. The breakfast was good too and you can have a cooked breakfast if you wish, which is freshly made to order. This has the feel of a much more expensive hotel, though not surprisingly, the 'Hamam Suite' is fairly pricey. On our visit there was no reception/bar service after about 5pm and you are given a key to let yourself in or out, not sure if they have any plans to have staff there for longer in the future, though it was not a problem for us. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Rethymno if I can get booked in. Highly recommend this hotel.
