Hotel Marin, with its main objective of highlighting the Cretan hospitality and the professionalism of its staff, has become a favorite place of stay, whose history dates back to 1979. The hotel belongs to the luxurious category of accommodation and has 44 rooms next to the small Venetian harbor of Heraklion, a number of them with beautiful views of the Cretan Sea. We have been renovated in 2021 and we have decorated our rooms with discreet simplicity in order to create a relaxed and pleasant environment for our guests. We would like also to welcome you to Heraklion city which the vibrant center and the biggest cretan port are only a few steps away from the hotel. The magnificent view of the harbour and the famous fortress of Koule impresses all who have the privilege to enjoy from one of our fine Sea View rooms or from our restaurant Gazebo, where you can choose to for a complimentary breakfast or a casual meal during the day. The relaxed environment and friendly atmosphere prevails throughout the year makes the Marin hotel an excellent choice for your stay in our city. We belong in the luxurious category and we stay open all the year. We will be delighted to meet you in person in your next trip!

The hotel reception was very nice and helpful with a car rental. However, we learned that after paying and booking via booking.com online that we didn't get breakfast! Be aware! The room was small but adequate - but it didn't look out upon the beautiful port as the photos show, rather I was looking into someone's balcony - be aware! We were so disappointed and wanted to see the view as this was our first time in Crete, Greece. And their site looks so lovely with large rooms and terrific views. The room and especially the bathroom were very tiny. It was difficult to take a shower nor was it that clean either. The receptionists both were very helpful. But be weary if you are excited to see the beautiful views and have breakfast that they show online - you must check it out or you will overpay and be under served. When I checked online for the date we booked, it was more than 10+ euros less than I paid. So why no breakfast or view? The answer is don't book via booking.com! Disappointed.

This hotel is located on top of a hill with a perfect view towards the Iraklion Venetian port, esp. in the breakfast room. My room was perfectly equipped and had a small terrace which was under sunshine all along the afternoon. The hotel team put an effort to make it sterile clean during the COVID-19 pandemic. The rental car I used to drive around in Crete could be parked in the nearby Port Parking lot. I can only recommend that hotel!

Our first overnight stay here (we usually opt for the Lato just up the road when we have an evening arrival). The room was small, the bathroom tiny but we found it adequate for a one night stay - comfy bed and quiet. However, despite the great views from the top floor breakfast room, the quality of the breakfast itself was poor - powdered egg omelette, tinned fruit cocktail….probably back to the Lato next time.

Excellent location: walking distance to restaurants, the port, laundry. Safe neighborhood. Hotel located at a corner, well lit, easy to find. Buses parked a block from the hotel. 15 minutes from the airport.
Modern rooms with balconies. Very small bathrooms (not comfortable: no space to spread your toiletries, to hang towels, no counter space. The shower was a cubicle with a folding door (very small, not for regular size bodies). Rooms have a phone to call the front desk. We found no shampoo or soap in the dispensers. The air conditioning did not work in the rooms and we were told to open the window. The manager came the next morning and solved the problems.
Good customer service at night depending on who is there. One guy was extremely nice and people friendly, the other one was not.
Breakfast on the 5th floor, magnificent view to the port and bay. Variety of food, cold, hot, omelets, pastries, espresso machine, variety of juices, teas.
Excellent internet connection

Stayed in Room 401. Fabulous view from our private balcony. Functional room with comfy beds and a fridge. Good bathroom. Beautiful views from the breakfast room. Lots of choice at breakfast. Great location for the port, fortress, buses and taxis. 10 minutes walk to Lion Square and 5 minutes away from a very nice large supermarket. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and Demetrius was especially helpful. Used the recommended taxi service for transfers and very pleased with it and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel on check out day as we had a late flight. We had a wonderful time. The hotel was fantastic value.

We had the room with huge terrace overlooking the harbour which had an amazing view. Shade and sun at all times of day. Great location near to harbour (both for visiting the fortress and for catching the ferry to Santorini!) and walking distance of lots of restaurants. Their own restaurant is only open for breakfast, but there was a lot of choice (buffet style) and even better views from this top floor. We arrived in a rental car but there was nowhere to park until luckily someone vacated a space in the free area on the street; this would have been a pain if we were keeping the car, but actually we had arranged for it to be collected from here.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights , and had one of the worst experiences. Our door got locked from inside , we couldn’t get out, made a complain at the reception. The manager promised to fix it, we returned back to the room and the situation was the same, though we were told by the manager that it was fixed. We were shifted to another room which was even more dirtier and unclean . The bathroom was in a very shabby state. The person at the reception was very abrupt and rude to my travel companion which is uncalled for. Except for the location , there is nothing in this hotel. I would strongly refrain and advise people from not checking into this hotel ever.

Thanks for your staying in our hotel. Daily, we are working hard to make our guests happy. We are appreciating your feedback which will help us to upgrade our services and I will personally address the issues your mentioned in your reviews and thank you reporting it to us. I am very sorry that the reception person's suggestions not leave both doors open (balcon door - room's door) at the same time, are taken as rude. When it's windy and the balcony door is open we don't leave the room door open, so we can have direct access to the second room which you had. Unfortunately, with the sudden and forceful closing of the door, a small spring in the internal mechanism of the door went away from his position. The locksmith came to your door twice. As a hotel we did not ask you to pay us for the damage caused by this negligence. We immediately changed your room because the damage to the lock was impossible to repair in half an hour, a suitable part had to be found from a similar lock. Her repair was completed at 10:00 pm. Great location near the marina … walking distance to main shopping area and restaurants etc. Room was fairly small … two single beds put together as a double, reasonably comfortable but not luxurious. Check in/out very easy and reception staff very friendly. The view from the breakfast room over the port was lovely and the breakfast was your normal run of the mill stuff. The hotel was nice. My only complaint really was that it had a Seaview with a small balcony but couldn’t enjoy it because every six minutes or so there was a plane leaving the airport and they’re quite low and noisy. From very early in the morning till well past midnight. Crete must have an incredibly busy, 🤔

Small hotel on the right place - a few steps to the potr & to the Center & to the Airport. Very friendly staff. All of them could help. No problem to add one more night extra incl an extra bed for my mother. The matresses were so good, we slept so good. All rooms are quiet. Breakfast delicious. The breakfast room is on the top floor where is beautiful view to the port & the old fort.

They don't have airport transportation. We also arrived late at night and had no trouble getting a taxi at the airport (this was cheaper than using the taxi they will book to meet you).

Don't consider the bus as if you can get one at that time of night you will still have to drag your bags to the hotel. The hotel is very close to the ferry terminal and would be only about a 2 - 3 minute taxi ride away. I did not use a taxi while in Heraklion so I do not know the cost. The staff at the Marin Dream Hotel are very helpful so why not send them an email and ask their advice. Enjoy your trip.
