The hotel is in an excellent location to explore Iraklion. There is a good restaurant, called Xayiati, directly opposite serving delicious Greek food and there is a wide choice of restaurants in the city centre a short walk away. The rooms were modern, spacious and comfortable with plenty of electric sockets and a kettle to make hot drinks. The breakfast was very good. There was lots of choice. The food was set out to allow social distancing and gloves and hand sanitiser were provided. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was a car park a few metres away which the hotel has a special arrangement with so that guests pay a discounted rate.

I stayed at the hotel for what was essentially a 3-day domestic business trip. I have to say I was really pleased by my experience! The room was exactly what I expected based on the description - comfortable, with a desk, a mini-fridge and a rather spacious bathroom, while the cleaning services did a thorough job daily. Although few and brief, my interactions with the staff all went rather smoothly. The best part was, surprisingly, the breakfast! Guests are absolutely spoiled for choice, ranging from classic breakfast ingredents like toast bread, butter & marmelade to local white cheeses (φέτα, ξινομυζήθρα, τυροκαυτερή), raw or boiled vegetables, olive oil and other Cretan products and healthy stuff! As someone who doesn't usually eat breakfast or rave about food, I haven't seen such variety of options at any hotel I have visited in other Greek islands, so I felt compelled to comment on it. I have no negatives to point out, so all in all, I had a lovely stay, and I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Heraklion. Ευχαριστώ!

The Kastro is a great city centre hotel.

It’s been recently refurbished and the rooms are clean, well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Great shower, good water pressure and very clean.

Reliable internet throughout the hotel, USB charging points on either side of the twin beds, various TV channels and coffee / team making machines + a fridge for water, wine etc.

Good breakfast, continental, and a small bar for night time drinks on their beautiful top floor outdoor terrace.

The staff are super friendly and helpful and the rooms are cleaned with both vacuum and a steam cleaner.

Best of all is the price. It’s very reasonable and the facilities are as good or better than nearby hotels charging 50% more per night.

Parking in an underground car park 50m away. It’s €7 a night. You could try to find on street parking nearby but the streets are very narrow and usually full of cars, trucks and scooters, so why bother.

Highly recommended...

Well located hotel at a good value for money. Room was clean and spacious. The breakfast included was nice, although there needed to be more staff to help clean the tables and replace plates/cutlery etc as it was a little chaotic. But on the whole this is a very minor point and would still recommend! The roof of the hotel had a nice sitting area with a view of the sea too!

Excellent location, although the street looks a bit unpreposing, the hotel is in the perfect place to see everything in the city easily. The room was modern, clean with a stylish bathroom. The breakfast provided had a wide range of options both cooked and continental.

We have only stayed here 1 night but were very happy which our choice. What makes this hotel is the staff that are always welcoming, smiling and very attentive. We had an early ferry and the reception suggested we could come down for breakfast 15 minutes earlier than it starts and had no problems with receiving it. The lady in the restaurant was rushed off her feet but that didn't stop her being very attentive and pleasant. The breakfast was by far the best we have had on our Greek holiday during the Covid pandemic. The room we stayed in was on the 5th floor and had a fantastic communal terrace where we had an afternoon drink. The room itself was very spacious and very well equipped. My only comment would be to change the plastic bins in the bathroom as they look very cheap and ours was broken. The location of the hotel is just a short walk to everything you need and the ferry port.

Great location to everything we wanted to see and do in Heraklion. The staff are very warm, friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and immaculately clean. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast is ample with a variety of items (cereals, Cretan rusk with feta, tomatoes and green peppers, bacon, sausage, hard boiled eggs, fresh orange juice, coffee, yogurts, breads). We highly recommend this hotel. There is free parking on the street, which is quite busy and often full of parked cars. The hotel has 2 spots in front, which may be available.

Staff make the hotel experience and this boutique has great staff, even opening my store-bought wine bottle so I can enjoy it on the rooftop, helping with the local buses and local places to eat, to delivering my Greek coffee. Above & beyond. The hotel has a good location so you can reach the main areas and sites quickly. The rooms are modern, stylish and clean, there are even positive messages on the ceiling. The rooftop is a great spot to relax, don’t expect impressive views but do enjoy it with a glass of wine before bed. Breakfast buffet was fulsome, and the orange was great enough to make it into this review lol.

This hotel may be on the corner of 2 narrow streets but incredibly close to town centre. Just walk one block then through a small park and there.
Rooms recently renovated and very nice.
Breakfast adequate.

The hotel is 500 meters from the port. The easiest way is to take a taxi to the hotel especially if you have luggage.
