Location is great! It's right in the pedestrian zone so easy to walk around to shops, restaurants, and the Heraklion Archaeology Museum. Unfortunately the closest parking was not free and it was a few blocks away. The pedestrian area is super busy so was dropped off to check in and then driver could not get back to drop off luggage, had to park and cart it several blocks to hotel. People out at the cafe across the street till 12:30 am, had to use A/C to drown out the noisy street below. Hotel is very old, could use a good cleaning in the room. The bathroom and shower were super small and smelled badly. Good wifi, A/C, shampoo and soap provided, beds were hard, sheets were scratchy. The breakfast included stale cookies and bread, a cheese, a meat, a hardboiled egg, coffee, apple, canned peaches, yogurt, cereal, juice, tomato, cheese, and cucumber. There was one available plug a USA adapter could fit into. We unplugged the tv and fridge to charge our phones. Was told parking was 8 Euros a day but could not find it, so parked at a closer place with an hourly rate. Cost 75 euros for 3 people.…
Basically. it's a 2star hotel, so don't expect the Ritz. But it's location was 5star - right at the top of the pedestrian area. Countless restaurants and bars just steps away. We arrived by ferry and walked to the hotel...15 minutes: walk along the road beside the ocean and then straight up the pedestrian street. Breakfast was OK - not great. Coffee machine in the restaurant didn't work the first day. Room had a small balcony so you can sit and watch the goings-on.
Best place in town if you are on a budget. Really central without the rubble. What else does one want for the money they pay for this hotel? The free parking is a bit far away but so what. Great place for the buck.
Once you understand that you haven’t paid for a five star hotel ( 60$ CAD )things aren’t actually that bad. I picked this place as an emergency as we needed an hotel pronto for an overnighter. The staff were helpful and polite but if you expect to make them your friends, buy a dog instead. The room was clean and fictional
El Greco is located right at the heart of Heraklion old city, which is practical (but not so easily accessible if you have your own car- parking options are extremely limited). We were offered a small room for a last minute booking, with a tiny bathroom. It was clean and not noisy but that was all! Beds were old and not comfy, personnel was polite but not attentive.
