Welcome to Agioklima (honey-suckle), an old traditional Cretan house with full facilities in a traditional village in the heart of Crete. The Agioklima traditional houses are restored village houses on the edge of the traditional village Petrokefalo, looking over the beautiful valley towards Pendamodi, Kroussonas and on the north towards Heraklion and the Cretan sea. The Cretan traditional houses are separated in fully equipped 40-70 m2 traditional apartments for 2-4 persons with stone fire places and basic kitchen. The center of Heraklion is about 16 km from traditional village Petrokefalo.

Stayed for 4 nights in October. One of our most memorable accommodations in a seven week trip to Greece and Turkey. The apartment is spacious, clean and beautiful. Large outdoor patio to sit and view the mountains and olive groves. Situated in the small traditional village of Petrokefalo, away from the throng of tourists but still close enough to access most of central Crete. Niki was a wonderful host. Make sure you get good directions and arrive during daylight. It is easy to get lost but more than worth the effort.

The beautifully renovated village houses in the traditional setting of Petrokefalo feels directly like "home" and is the perfect place to stay for fun and work on the mystical island of Crete. With its central location about 15 minutes by car from Heraklion, this quiet apartment serves as the ideal home base for exploration and retreat. And with the warm and helpful house owner this place is a little heaven on earth.

Perfect place of silent relaxation
On the top of the hill, far from the noisy city.
But in 20-40 minutes you can arrive Heraklion or the best beaches of the Island.
I recommand it for friends and families and for single travellers as well.

We choose this accomodation to avoid the crowd around Heraklione and we were right: after a day spent visiting a city or ruines is there something better to retire in a small village, in a typical cretan house, on a terrace looking the panorama or the gorgeus starred sky?
Add that the owner Nike (pron. Niki) is of that special kind of people that can let you fell good without being always there.
Not to mention al the advices she gave to let us enjoy at maximun our visit.

The village is located high (but not too much), a rural idyllic for travelers and country areas lovers.
We've received a cozy Suite with super comfortable warm atmosphere of the ancient village with its narrow trails. It's like as being localized in Crete.
All windows with views of fields, vineyards and olive groves. The sea horizon and Heraklion (20 minute drive) and snow-capped mountains on the other.
What an amazing experience.
The suite we got was renovated and equipped with all the goods, nice wooden kitchen, and a fireplace (a bit cold at April nights) on trees, in the main room with sofas, tables and chairs. Bedroom and bathroom Space is up a wide wooden staircase. Relaxed atmosphere, quiet, worth everything.
Do not expect a hospital sterilizing place. It is a village after all, but it's clean and comfortable.

Very highly recommended.

My mother and I, we had a great time in this house!!! First of all, Niki, the owner, welcomed us like we always knew each other!! The house was really clean and well decorated. We felt immedialtely comfortable! Our house had a huge private terrasse with a fantastic view on the vineyards and the sea. It was exactly what we expected. A traditional place, near the main city and the roads to visit easily the island. We loved Crete and cretan people, they know how to welcome strangers.
It was a perfect trip and Niki's house was the perfect place to enjoy the real Crete.

Peaceful and quiet, Agioklima is a perfect place. The house is clean and confortable. The views over the valley, the mountains (place of birth of the god Zeus, as the tradition says) and over the village are magnificient. The owner, Niki, is very kind and her indications about Herakleion: museums, places to visit, etc. are very useful. The village itself, Petrokéfalo, is small and peaceful, a place for living, a few days or for a longtime. It is not far from Herakleion and other interesting places, like Myrtia, and its Nikos Kazantzakis Museum. We lived in Agioklima like our house.

Room Tip: All the houses are good, but for me the better is this with the room upstairs.

Last summer I went to spend two months in Crete for work, but also for some holidays. The first day I arrived I was shocked by the views from this house to Psiloritis mountains and the valley. The village (Petrokefalo) is very calm, but also you can enjoy local parties like a villager. People in the village is very friendly and welcoming. In the taverna, owned by Anna and Panos, you can taste some of the most delicious and typical Cretan dishes. The house is very nice furnished. Its is in a traditional Cretan style, but you can also use Internet connection. One of the most surprising experiences is to share a time with locals at the Cafeneion, tasting a Greek coffee. Niki, the owner, is a marvellous person. She made me feel like at home there.

Quite by accident, I discoverd AgioKlima & spent a month in one of the gorgeous traditonal houses. Located in a small village, the views & the garden were amazing - Psiloritis, olive grows & at night, the lights of the neighbouring villages were the perfect setting. The villagers were friendly & welcoming & the local produce incredible - local tomatoes, fetta, watermelon, bread & local wine. We ate the local taverna, laughed with the locals & even joined in a local village celebration (lots of dancing, eating & wine). The house was beautifully furnished with traditional Cretan funiture & furnishing but with all the mod cons. Lots of walking & non touristy villages to explore & the opportunity to sip coffee with the locals. The owner, Niki, writer, lawyer, historian was generous, thoughtful & full of wonderful local stories & is a fabulous cook. Can't wait to return - I felt part of the family/community.

I stayed in Nikis houses twice for several months while I was working in Heraklion close to ITE/FORTH, and since then I've returned twice with my family for summer holidays. The houses are equipped with all you need (including free Wifi) and Niki always does her best to make your stay a pleasant one. Add this to the great views towards the Psiloritis mountains and the sea, and you've got a place that you'll always want to return to.
