Its prime location is a highlight, with many travelers appreciating the easy access to the old town, waterfront, and various dining options. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, some guests note they could be more spacious and better lit. Traveling to Heraklion for business quite often I have tried a few hotels in the past and now I have found my hotel for my trips to Heraklion . I am so staying again at Lato ! Very friendly staff , very good breakfast, parking available close by . Quiet and close to the city center , also very clean . The rooms are simple but modern and practical offering everything you would need .
As said before not trying other hotels , this will be my choice for all my next trips !

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. They arranged an airport pick up which went very smoothly and was reasonably priced. The lady at reception was very friendly and cheerful, and explained all the new safety rules regarding covid so that we felt very safe throughout our stay. Our room, a junior suite on the third floor, had a fantastic view of the harbour and Venetian Fort. There was a pleasant sitting area with sofa and fridge, a bedroom with a large comfortable bed and a good bathroom with a huge shower and quality toiletries. The two balconies, one with a table and chairs, gave an excellent view. The breakfast was served in a pleasant room with every food item individually wrapped for hygiene. There was plenty of choice. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in August for 2 weeks. 2 x Junior suites overlooking the marina and fort. The best views of the fort from any hotel in the city. We chose the junior suites this time because the premier suites although great have very high jacuzzi bath/showers which didn’t suit my wife. The junior suites were made up with double bedroom and couch in separate lounge area changed for a very comfortable single bed. The showers are large and powerful enough to get a decent shower. There’s a fridge and very good coffee maker. Enough space to have a very good stay. The bed was particularly comfortable. There were two balconies one in the bedroom and one in the lounge. Great views of the marina and fort. Not much noise during the night so a peaceful sleep. The housekeeping was exceptional. Sheets were changed virtually every day together with fresh towels. The rooms were spotless. People on here say the rooms are getting a bit tired, however, I’ll put up with tired in exchange for spotless housekeeping. The breakfast was good but got a little boring after 14 days especially with a vegan wife. A lot of visitors use the hotel as a transit hub so there’s a very high turnover of guests. The lift comes in for a fair amount of criticism but we didn’t have any problem. They’re small and old but they work fine! You have to wait sometimes when busy but get over it! Reception was staffed by very helpful people who sorted any problem out quickly and efficiently. If you want a quiet well placed hotel with exceptional views to many of the rooms, the Lato will not disappoint. Free parking at marina or discounted (6euro) at nearby underground valeted parking. Didn’t use the restaurant as the vegan choices were limited, however, it’s a great place to eat with a cracking view.
Not every room has good views so make sure you book the rooms with a view if this is a priority.

The location was great and we booked a room facing the water, so had a small terrace and beautiful views over the harbor. The staff were wonderful and so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and the bar offered great snacks, drinks and service. All this and super comfortable beds!
We couldn't have been happier!

The price we paid for two nights (almost 200€) felt huge compared to the things we received. The service when arriving was already bad, and as we checked out and told how we were unsatisfied, the receptionist just took our room cards and asked „Can I help you?“ in a very mean tone giving us the image he wasn’t interested in hearing about our experience. On the breakfast table no one greeted us, many things were finished 1,5 hours before the breakfast buffet was closing and it seemed as no one was there to fill those up again. The room looked untidy with some hairspray stains on the bathroom door and sticky surfaces. The only good thing was the view and the Location. Just not worth it at all.

Dear sarakK8637EW, thank you for choosing Lato Boutique Hotel for your stay in Heraklion city. We appreciate all mentions related to your experience both laudatory and critical. Thank you for giving us the chance to retrieve any misfires and change. Our hotel has implemented a well-structured procedure of complaint handling and problem-solving. We believe that our clerk did have the will to hear and help. We do apologize for the fault expression and we shall give more attention to it during our training sessions. Our breakfast buffet is being refilled with all choices. The only delay was the puff pastry for which our chef was made aware of on time so as to amend. The housekeeping team follows a strict procedure for cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces. Any omission is important, must be reported and immediately corrected. Dear sarakK8637EW we will be honored to welcome you back and make up for the precedent unsatisfying experience. Best Regards, Guest Relations Manager

Myself, my partner and our parents stayed here just for one night, as we had to take an earlier flight into Crete due to Covid-19. We arrived pretty late at the hotel (around 10:45pm), but the lady at reception had a big smile on her face and was very welcoming. The check in process took less than 5 minutes and was nice and easy. The rooms were very pleasant - good strong aircon, very comfy beds and nice bathroom. We had breakfast in the morning and there was a good selection of meats, cheeses, cooked items, cereal, pastries, fruit, teas and juices. We had to check out of the room by 11am, however there was a room next to reception where we were able to store our bags until our hire car was ready to take us onto the next place. This allowed us to explore the city a little before heading off. Location wise it was great, very short walk to local shops and tavernas and city life.
The hotel was perfect for just one night for us, but we could have easily stayed there for a little while longer!

We just stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The location is great - in the middle of town, just opposite the venezian harbour, with plenty of restaurants, shops and bars in easy walking distance. We had booked two rooms with seaview, and my room (406) had the most perfect view of the harbour and fortress. Really great.

The rooms are cOomfortable - nothing fancy, but with everything you need. The balcony is quite small, but lovely, especially because of the great views. Breakfast is a small and very nice buffet. On one evening we had dinner at the hotels restaurant (Herb s Garden), which was very tasty. The restaurant offers amazing views of the harbour.

The hotel was very nice and it is placed in one of the best areas of Heraclion, with very nice view of the old fortress "Koules" and the port. The staff was very professional and friendly and willing to help us on everything we needed. The breakfast was very nice as well, with a variety of freshly cooked items and good tastes.

In the midst of the coronavirus panic, my husband and I decided to travel to Crete and Lato was one of the few hotels open at the time. It lived up to my expectations of superb service and, most importantly safety during the pandemic. The staff was friendly and accommodating with extremely helpful suggestions. Room was scrupulously clean. We stayed in a sea view superior room on the 3rd floor. Balcony was small but overlooking the Venetian old port with an amazing view and breathtaking sunset. We loved the safe way continental breakfast was prepared with everything, including delicious Greek dairy and honey topped products, individually wrapped. Dinner at the rooftop restaurant was a highlight. Didn’t know whether I should look at the food or the view. It’s a lovely property and I highly recommend Lato Boutique Hotel and look forward to returning.

I was really looking forward to this trip to Crete but my high hopes were dashed when I arrived at this hotel. We paid good money to be in the area but what we got was a second-rate dump. We did not even get to stay in the main hotel! Even though we booked more than 3 months in advance we were relegated to some hastily remodeled dirty annex across the street.

No A/C in either building except in your room so eating meals or hanging out in the social area were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was so small I had to lean to the right anytime I had use the facilities because the counter overhung the toilet by a third. Hair from the previous guest was all over the bathroom so I question whether or not the room was ever cleaned. Hallways are dingy and dark with room service trays that sat in the way for days! Elevator is so small only one person can go up at a time - if you have luggage you are taking the stairs. "Breakfast" was so bad that even though it was free my wife and I walked elsewhere to find food every morning. The bed was so hard we could only sleep for a few hours at a time before we woke up with aches and pains.

To say that this experience was a major disappointment would be a massive understatement.

Responded Oct 4, 2022
Dear Mike N, thank you for choosing Lato Annex Boutique rooms for your single-night stay in Heraklion, and regret if the room type booked did not meet your expectations. Kindly note that the room allocation depends on the room type booked and not the time space between booking and staying. As per its online description and display, Economy Room Annex is 15m2. Should you be more comfortable in a larger room, Lato Annex offers room capacity up to 20m2. Please note that our lobby's A/C automatically stops when the temperature reaches 25 degrees. We thank you for your mention in regard to housekeeping. Cleanliness is a top priority for us that is why rooms are checked during and after their cleanliness. Our housekeeping manager is made aware of your remark in order to find the source of this omission on the day of your arrival, as is the F&B manager in regards to the room service. As far as it concerns the breakfast buffet although we do our best to please all guests with the variety offered, we do understand if you wish to taste something different. Please note that our service staff is prompt to take your call and meet your nutritional preferences. Crete is one of the few islands rich in variety of herbs, fruits, and legumes that will be difficult not to find the ideal taste. In regards to the beds, our mattresses hold excellent quality specifications with distinctions. For our guests' comfort, we provide upper mattresses for even more softness. Of course, if you wish we can provide an additional upper mattress upon request. Dear Mike we will be looking forward to welcome you back and make up for your first impression. We are confident you will find many reasons to keep coming back. Best regards, Guest Relations Manager

Agree with William. We stayed at Chania at the Corinna Mare hotel and had booked a day trip to Elafonisi and it was excellent. It was a comfortable 2 hour one way trip with a couple of stops on the way. It would be too far away from Heraklion for a day trip. I have reviewed that trip separately.

The electrical outlets are just European. We have adaptors that cover all continents. I do know about laundry as this was our first stop on our holiday in Greece. The hotel staff were very helpful so I am sure they could tell you.
