Perfect location, nice restaurants nearby, parking nearby and amazing staff!!! We stayed for 1 night in a family room which is basically 2 interconnected double rooms with 2 bathrooms, everyone was very friendly and ready to assist with all questions! They managed to organize a nice breakfast whist respecting Covid 19 limitations. Great hotel! Highly recommended !

The room was luxury with sense of 5* hotel. The bathroom was large and comfort while the view from the balcony was amazing. The negative that was the bells from the church opposite but that wasn't big deal as rest of facilities was more than expected. High recommended!

I do apologize that this review is far overdue but the Metropole Urban Hotel deserves this fantastic review! (Better slightly late than never, I hope). Just a disclaimer that this is NOT a paid review nor am I affiliated with any persons at the hotel nor was I asked to write this review. This is a completely honest (and very detailed) review that I want to share with everyone. I booked my room directly on the hotel website but I'm deliberately taking my time to write this review, albeit a little late, on Trip Advisor. I feel that any praise is deserving when the hotel and staff did a stellar job! I stayed at this boutique hotel for 2 nights exactly 3 months ago in mid-September 2019 which was quite new at the time. I believe the hotel had been open for only 3 or 4 months back then. The hotel staff tended to all my questions and all my emails before I arrived in Heraklion and they were very accommodating to all the details! I requested for the room with the open / full balcony since that was the price I had paid for, which was very reasonable and affordable, if not actually inexpensive, considering its fantastic location, the hotel all around and its lovely staff! The room was clean, very spacious (sad that I didn't stay longer than 2 nights!), comfortable, modern, well kept and luxurious in look and feeling without the luxury price tag! My room even had a digital scale (perfect for me to weigh my bags and suitcases to prepare for my flight!). The balcony overlooked the beautiful Saint Catherine Square and Churches. The cleaning ladies were friendly and cheery. What I also really liked was how the hotel uses sustainable toiletries and cleansing products: no individual-sized plastic bottles but large sized shower gels, hand creams, cleaning gel, shampoo, etc. for use just during your stay. They use a wonderful line of products called Lapé Collection that's gently scented and smelled amazing! The bed's mattress and pillow both had the right firmness and very comfortable and COZY. The room was quiet, walls were not thin and the room had a lot of space to put your bags away, hangers for your clothes, etc. Free mini fridge too! The wifi was strong and stable, no issues at all. The one small complaint I'd say is that it was a little challenging washing my face in the sink / wash basin as the sink faucet was sticking out of thew all quite long so there was no place to put your face over the sink to wash and rinse. Not the end of the world but one small complaint. I liked how it had the zoom-in mirror for any super close view you need. Blow dryer was effective, shower pressure was consistent and strong, the hot water tank never ran out so this was huge for me (something that can be a problem in many places in Europe) and it drained properly. The hotel is truly at a perfect location. I'm extremely picky with where I stay - from location, accessibility, cleanliness, amenities, service, wifi, staff, price, views, etc. Literally right next to the hotel is a cute local Greek cafe called Sinaitiko Caffe (Σιναΐτικο καφές) that's worth checking out. There's a pharmacy also across from the hotel. Lots of bakeries and restaurants close by. Also, it's super easy to get to Morosini Lion's Fountain by foot (5 minute walk) and to Peskesi, a fantastic Cretan restaurant (7 minute walk). The hotel and its area are all safe, even to walk alone at night. It took a quick 15 minute cab ride to get to the Knossos Palace (maybe at the most 20 minutes if there's any heavy traffic but no more than that). The hotel staff were so kind to give restaurant recommendations (Peskesi was on my list already but I was pleased that they also recommended me that). They even helped me to call the restaurant if I needed to make a reservation or not. They also helped me with information on how to get my double entrance value ticket to the Knossos Palace and the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. Super helpful and thoughtful!! 😊 All stays at the hotel, whichever room you book, comes with a free buffet breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was really lovely. I read some reviews about the breakfast being mediocre but I didn't think so at all. It had enough variety for a small boutique hotel, healthy and delicious choices and also being complimentary, I thought it was really nice. Since I had a crazy early flight to catch after my second night's stay there, the hotel was really kind to prepare free breakfast to-go (take away) so that I can bring it with me on the plane, which I ended up enjoying it at my apartment in Madrid. Just let the hotel know by no late afternoon / early evening that you'd like your breakfast prepared for pick up upon checkout at the hotel counter. The hotel staff were so friendly, it was a little sad leaving to say bye but I told them I'll be back again, hopefully sooner rather than later! Apologies for the long review but I think I covered almost everything and wanted to be completely transparent with my experience. I'm REALLY happy to have found this gem of a hotel!! I know I will go back to stay here when I next make it back to Heraklion. Ευχαριστώ πολύ Metropole Urban Hotel!! 😊

We chose the Metropole because of its location, being fairly central to many things. The hotel is newer, designed in modern fashion, which was very nice. The rooms were clean, though set up in a way that 2 people constantly were running into each other due to narrower walking areas. The shower is not designed well - it's partially 'open' and the water would leak out sometimes. The breakfast buffet had a nice assortment - food was decent, coffee was not good; had to pay extra for anything beyond regular drip and Greek coffee. Our overall stay was pleasant, but small improvements could make it even better.

I would put 4* because it’s a new hotel and has space for development to be even better but my staying there was already so good and next time I visit the city I will definitely stay there. Clean and new hotel, very helpful staff and very central location. You have everything on foot in a matter of a few minutes. For a city visit or for a quick business trip, it’s definitely the place to stay. What the hotel needs to work on: 1. The door between some rooms. If a client is lucky and no one is next door, the client won’t be bothered but if there is a person snoring next door or keeps the light on... 2. The breakfast (of great quality) could be slightly enriched/diversified (it had both fried eggs and omelet but no tomatoes for example). What the guests should consider before booking: - THE HOTEL IS SUPER CENTRALLY LOCATED. There is no parking available, the hotel is on a square, super central and there is an alley passing by. So there is no space for a car even to wait for more than a few minutes. Also, some taxi drivers don’t want to drive this alley and can let you walk for 50 meters. But this something applies to most of urban hotels.
