Hotel's Favorite
Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel which we had booked into for an overnight stop due to the late arrival of our flight. Given that the flight landed over 2 hours late and we ended up checking in well after 01:00, the check-in experience couldn’t have been easier and slicker.
Nice room, plenty of space for 3 adults and the air con was welcome. Good nights sleep on a comfortable bed and had a long lazy breakfast sitting in the outside terrace by the pool.
Everyone very friendly and helpful.

Sofia Hotel is really close to the Heraklion Int. Airport.
Reception staff was helpful and efficient.
My room was on the ground floor with a balcony facing the road. The size of the room, bathroom and balcony were great.
The mattress was great and free parking was also a bonus.
Breakfast (following covid-19 protocols) was OK, but nothing special.
Wi-fi was sufficient
Being close to the Airport means that there is noise from the aircrafts taking off.
Water in the room was not drinkable (which I understand happens, but in that case you offer some bottles of water to the guests)

Due to its ideal location near the airport this is the perfect hotel for travellers passing through, to and from the airport, but not somewhere to stay for more than a few nights. The pool is lovely but the pool area is not suitably set up with enough loungers and a number are broken. There is now a snack bar again, open from 5pm, but food is limited and rather plain. Good tavernas locally are worth a visit. Perhaps the fact it is always fully booked, due to location, means the owners do not see the need to keep decor standards up - bedroom had poor repair patchwork over a wall crack and the electrics panel outside our room was missing a panel. The family room is spacious with a good shower room and balcony but in need of a lick of paint. Would only really recommend for its convenient location. Staff are friendly and helpful and will happily organise taxis to airport, port, fort and town.

After Wizz Air cancelled mine and my friends flight and left us stranded in Crete, this hotel was a god send. We stayed the night in a family room. Staff were very friendly. Room was clean and spacious, nothing fancy though. We then spent the next day relaxing by the pool before boarding our new flight at the near by airport. Breakfast is very basic and not worth it when round the corner is a bakery that sells lovely coffee n pastries. Also town is a 10 min walk away if you want to explore the shops a bit more. Overall, great little spot for a night if you are in a pinch and need a place near the airport for 1/2 nights

We stayed at this hotel for one night only, as we had to catch the plane at 6 am. It's located right by the airport, so it was easy to park and return the car the next day, without waking up way too early. The pool area is pretty big, shaded, which is great considering the summer temperatures, and staff was friendly. The cuisine was basic, but at the end of our stay all we needed was a last Greek Salad. The bedrooms were spacious, shower good, and bedding perfect. With the air conditioner we didn't hear the plane much, but it's true that when by the pool it was every 5 minutes, and very loud!

We were looking for a minimal journey as our flight was arriving at 2230 and this hotel seemed to be closest to the airport. It turned out to be a really great choice! A very friendly welcome at reception and the bar/restaurant staff were equally friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. A buffet breakfast was included in our booking and there was a good selection of food.
It’s not a 5 star hotel with lots of frills, although it does have a good size swimming pool, but we certainly couldn’t find any faults and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed for one night as our flight arrived very late. The hotel is conveniently located about a 15-20 minute walk from the airport. If you have a large suitcase, I recommend taking a taxi as the road is not ideal for wheeled luggage.
Check-in was quick, and our room was spacious and clean with powerful air conditioning. As the tap water isn't apparebrly drinkable (we never had this issue before in Greece), the hotel thoughtfully provided two bottles of water in the room.
The breakfast selection in the morning was limited, but there was enough variety for everyone to find something to eat. We enjoyed our breakfast by the pool. If we are in the area again, we will definitely return.

We stayed at this hotel as our flights got cancelled the day before we were due to fly home. Very grateful they had 3 rooms to put us up and the rooms were clean and tidy when we checked in.
Sadly one of the rooms smelt of stale smoke but that soon went once we had the balcony door open for a bit.
Air conditioner looks very old but seems to work pretty well.
I would recommend this hotel for a few nights missed fligh/cancelled fligh not ideally for a week as quite loud being right next to the airport and very basic rooms. No tea coffee making facilities or bottled water.
Breakfast definitely not worth €7 being cheaper and better to go ti the little bakery round the corner.

A basic but adequate hotel very convenient if you need somewhere near the airport.
Reception was friendly and efficient.
The room was on the small side but perfectly OK for what we wanted. Despite being near the airport it was fairly quiet and we slept well.
Despite arriving at almost 11:00pm we were able to get a basic bite to eat, in our case an omelet which was perfect for our needs.
Shower was fine.
Breakfast buffet was a bit basic, but fair value for €7.
The hotel has parking, which is useful.
We never tried the pool. It looked a little on the small side.
Not a ‘Destination’ hotel, but if I ever had a late flight in or early flight out I would happily use again.

We wanted to stay in Heraklion for a few days, and needed to be in close proximity to the city and the Nikos Kazantzakis Airport. Searching for something clean and convenient, we uncovered a true gem, a hotel that embodies the essence of Cretan hospitality. Also: Even though I'm extremely sensitive to noise, I wasn't bothered at all, even though the Airport is minutes away; I had brought ear plugs but didn't need them. The cleanliness of the space is incredible, but what truly sets this place apart is the warm hospitality offered by the hotel staff. I strongly suggest you ask the reception for sightseeing tips and tours, as they are uniquely knowledgeable about Greece’s national author, Nikos Kazantzakis, and his world renowned masterpiece, "Zorba the Greek."

They SHOULD be, but you need to check when you get in.. or alternatively ask "how much to the Sofia Hotel" as you get in. Sometimes for short trips, the drivers will just give you the price and not bother with the meter. It really is a very short run -- about 5 mins down the road.
The hotel is open all year, so cannot think why the pool would be closed. I'm sure there will be cooked food available. However, there is a little family run taverna on the main road, 10 mins walk. Email Sofia (actual person and very friendly). She will get back to you. We love staying there and have done so for many years. Chris
Hi no free shuttle service from this hotel but it’s so easy to go down the road and get the airport bus it’s very cheap or you can walk from the hotel. Will take you about 20 minutes.
Good morning!About 5 minutes walk!
The ancient site of Knossos is well worth a visit and can be accessed from the main bus station by local bus, there are also museums, galleries and old churches that are worth a visit. The town centre of Heraklion is packed with shops and some malls just ask at your hotel reception. You will find English spoken practically everywhere and judging by the clarity of your question you should be fine. The Cretan people are warm, welcoming, cultured and very helpful so have a wonderful time!
