In the heart of Heraklion city, Olive Green Hotel stands out with a distinct character. The name consists of two nodal words for the interpretation of its philosophy and personality that lies beyond. The Olive stands as a symbol of power, eternity, tranquility and prosperity. The Olive is embedded in the entity of Crete, through its purity and wildness. On the other side, the color Green represents the ecological and contemporary character of the hotel which implements international sustainability criteria. Olive Green is an intelligent, conscious, eco-friendly hotel, a prototype for citizens and travelers of the world. With modern infrastructures it combines the cutting-edge technology with the glory of Cretan culture while it gives prominence to all these elements that create eternal values. Its Philosophy is inculcated by the logotype which is inspired from the Minoan icons. The spiral, a symbol of birth, continuity and a universal imprint surrounded by olive leaves. Olive Green is a hotel with a very distinctive character of its own. It has cultivated a sui generis style through simplicity and individuality aiming to change the way of living in a city hotel.

Detailed Reviews
We spent there 13 nights. The hotel is located in the center of the Heraklion. You can reach old city in less than 10 minutes. Our room was well furnished and had great design. The hotel is very modern. It was really nice to come back to our room after all day on the beach or spent on a sightseeing. Air condition works very good. Our room was equipped with TV with HDMI port, which could important for people, who have some work to do like me. Staff is very kind and helpful (especially people working in reception), but room cleaning could be better, because you can find a pile of dust under the bed. It was coffee machine in our room, but it was nearly impossible to receive coffee capsules. We were asking about them daily and sometimes we received them, but very often even when person in the reception said it will be sorted, it wasn't.
Breakfast was very boring, but it wasn't bad, just usual continental breakfast. Better quality coffee could be served during it.
Bare in mind that there's no parking near the hotel. The closest place you can leave your car costs 6 euro per day.
Generally I can recommend that place and if I come back to Heraklion, I will stay there again.

Response from Δασκαλοπούλου Ιωάννα, Ιδιοκτήτης at Olive Green Hotel

Dear 272paulinaa, thank you for staying at the Olive Green Hotel and for your encouraging & highly positive comments. minimal design, led lighting and natural colors in our rooms contribute to our guests' relaxing mood. Our location is also ideal for your visit to Knossos Palace and all the historical monuments. Moreover, it is convenient for your daily excursions by boat. Port is only 10min walking distance. Your important remark regarding the dust during your stay has already reached our housekeeping manager. We highly appreciate your contribution to maintain our standards. In regards to coffee supplies, please note that it is daily refilled with a standard number of capsules. For any excess quantity, you will need to contact our staff. We are pleased you really liked its quality. Our breakfast buffet varies considerably although we do value the possibility of wanting something different. For this, we have established the 'open kitchen' concept, where you can request your favorite tastes cooked to order. We believe you had the chance to taste our famous a la carte breakfast & brunch at the tree park. It is well known and delicious! We do hope the parking location was convenient for your road trips. It is located at the other end of our square, approximately 50 meters far from the hotel, but it is really well organized and professional. Dear 272paulinaa, it will be our honor to welcome you back and enjoy more of our beautiful island. Best Regards, Guest Relations Director

Stayed here for two nights as part of a 2 weeks getaway to Crete. Having traveled before to Rethymno and Chania I was a little put off at first by the stray dogs that are overall in the city. By the end of the first day they were part of the picture. Heraklion proved to be a lively city where I encountered some very nice and welcoming people.
The location of this hotel is very good: close to all the major attractions and restaurants , the level of cleanliness could not be faulted. The room itself was big enough and it also had a balcony with view to the park. Take into consideration that there is no bathroom in the classical sense, the sink is near the bed and the shower stall in the opposite corner of the room . Also the hotel provided two bottles of water per room per day, bathrobe and slippers.
In regard to the breakfast there were good quality products like different types of cheese, cold meats, eggs , pastries and even olive oil. Everything packed due the Covid pandemic. What I did not like : there was no fresh orange juice.. it would have been a great start to my day. To conclude a good hotel at a fair price for what they offer.

+1
The hotel is pretty clean and modern. We found the beds to be very comfy and the hotel's location was pretty convenient near the old town and port areas. The rooms are well appointed with a couple of chairs, a work area, a coffee/tea station, big TV and a large bathroom. There were enough plugs around the room and many switches with light settings to get it just right. We appreciated the balcony and the view outside but there were some cars that drove by with very loud music each night. The only significant complaint we had was that the bathroom shower leaked very easily in our rooms and got the floor wet near the toilet.
The breakfast at the hotel was pretty good with a variety of Crete foods like cheese and pastries. There was fresh scrambled eggs and a very good sausage available as well. The breakfast also had a large variety of preserved fruits that paired well with the Greek yoghurt and included oranges, cherries, grapes and figs.
We appreciated that the hotel had inexpensive parking nearby at Central Parking which was 7 Euros per day with unlimited in/out privileges as long as we got a stamp when we got in. The hotel also had a restaurant that offered room service and there was a popular cafe just across the street. This hotel was a good base for exploring Crete with a convenient location near the airport and the price was very fair for us.

The Olive Green is the best! Everything exactly as advertised, this eco-friendly hotel is the place to stay if you want to be in the heart of Heraklion, close to the best shops, bars, cafes and restaurants . The staff are perfectly professional and accommodating in every way, the breakfast buffet offering something to please every taste, the spaces bright, attractive and clean, the atmosphere calm. The room we were upgraded to boasted a balcony and every amenity you could want or need, keeping its eco-friendly promise. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to make the shower stall a bit more "water-tight". While enjoying the lovely rain shower, we noticed that water was escaping under the door and wetting the wooden floor, which we had to mop up each time. Apart from that, we love this hotel and would definitely stay there again!

We are on our 3 rd night here and the feelings are mixed.Excellent location for wandering Heraklion. The ‘park’ it faces is actually a square full of restaurant tables so can get noisy in the evening as we found to our cost the first evening. When I asked if we could change rooms I was originally told by an unhelpful male in the front desk that they were full and anyway, this is the room you paid . Big issues with the electrics in room 105! In arrival we were pleased to receive a glass of wine and fruit platter in room as apology for electric issues meaning we needed a door key and some sockets might not work. We then realised we had no light in the toilet and only 1 socket worked. No tv therefore and kettle needed moving to the one working socket.Phone call from lady at front desk on second evening offering a move fir 3rd night if we got luggage ready for first thing. We decided it wasn’t worth the hassle ( light bulb in toilet replaced) and it was quieter. Despite pointing out again early evening that only 1 socket worked and thus no tv available nothing was done about it.No idea if any other rooms are experiencing the same issue - very vague explanations and we still await the technician that was promised. Not sure if I’d stay here again or recommend it on our experience.

Response from Marketing Karatarakis SA, Innkeeper at Olive Green Hotel
Responded May 16, 2022
Dear dragonhead, thank you for choosing the Olive Green Hotel for your stay. Due to a temporary failure in our automation system, we made sure to install a multi-socket plug in your room prior to your arrival, that assured the unceasing function of all appliances - including the TV & kettle unless unpluged. Pop Classic rooms are all located on the first floor. We regret any inconvenience, despite our soundproof windows and double glazed glasses that assure 90% sound isolation when kept closed. Unfortunately, our hotel was full and could not proceed with room upgrade in another category and hence another floor. Dear dragonhead we will be happy to welcome you back in the future and rectify the inconvenience caused by providing an alternative power supply. Best Regards, Guest Relations Manager

Stayed in Olive hotel for 10 days in January for a business trip. The hotel is conviniently located in the center of heraklion but yet away from the traffic and noise of the main streets.
Very friendly staff, elegantly decorated rooms, excellent breakfast and a very nice all day restaurant cafe in the hotel " 626 all day restaurant" for a lunch, dinner or a glass of wine makes your business meeting easier.

We had a nice stay at the Olive Green hotel. It is centrally located to the city center, near the bus stop and hop on/off bus tours. The airport taxi to the hotel cost is 20 euro but on the way back we took the airport bus (only like a few minutes walk) that only cost 1.10 euro and was super easy. (Tip** Literally the bus says airport and you buy the orange ticket right there at the stop.**)
This hotel is well taken care of, clean and very friendly & helpful staff. The breakfast was a nice spread of breads, some Pasteries, lunch meats, eggs, suaiage & bacon, fruits, and yogurt. Something for everyone. There is a cook constantly replenishing the food. This hotel is also by a plethora of restaurants and nearby attractions. Great place to stay, I would stay there again.

This is a great hotel, both inside and out. It is an evironmentally-focused hotel, meaning it was designed so as to have the lowest environmental impact as possible, which is a good thing. The rooms were well lit and the beds were soft. What makes it extra special is the location, which is right in the heart of downtown Heraklion. Sure, you can walk around and find places to eat, or you can simply walk across the street to the small park and eat at the outside tables of the family owned Turkish tapas restaurant. Literally, the grandmother makes everything from scratch and gives you the "thumbs up" if you let her know you enjoyed her fare. What a special experience.

This is a lovely hotel with great service. While in Athens, we couldn't get a response from a Heraklion medical clinic regarding the required U.S. Covid reentry testing. I called Olive Green for help. They happily arranged appointments for my family to receive Covid testing at a nearby medical clinic. This was a major stress reliever for my family. At check-in we were given instructions and directions for the scheduled medical visit. The hotel is updated and well appointed. This is the first time we have seen cleaning service wall buttons in a hotel. The breakfast was well done with attention to sanitation guidelines. Masks were worn in public areas and gloves provided for individual use in the breakfast room. We felt very safe. The hotel is in easy walking distance to restaurants, pharmacy, museums and bus stops. If you can't find it or need help, ask the front desk. Our only complaint was with the large loud teenage group that arrived the night before our early morning flight. Fortunately their coaches settled them down before midnight. I will keep this in mind when booking future hotel stays anywhere.

I booked this hotel very last minute when I arrived in Crete recently to snow & driving down to my home in Plakias would have been impossible. It was a very easy drive from the Airport to the valet parking (Central Parking) where the hotel offer discounted parking. The hotel itself was just a 2 minute walk. The receptionist was lovely & she made me feel very welcome. My room was beautiful, modern, spotlessly clean, big bed, great shower, slippers & robe provided, plus water, tea/coffee & it was lovely & warm. I had dinner in the restaurant & it was delicious. Breakfast was fantastic too with so much choice. Check out was 11am so had a couple of hours to wander around Heraklion which was a first for me. Great experience all round & so great I came back to stay 8 nights later before my early morning flight! I will be back for certain!

When we visited they stored our luggage near the front desk when we had a later flight and the booking websites show they still have luggage storage.
Dear Katchapuri, thank you for your message. The latest bus from the airport is no.12 and leaves at 23:50. The earliest passing bus from Platia Eleftherias (the big square near Olive Green) passes at 6:20.
We suggest to book a transfer on our website (top right): hotel-transfer link.
It costs €20 one way
We remain at your full disposal and looking forward meeting you!
To be honest, if you won’t have many luggage, you can walk. It’s only 12-15 mins far. Otherwise, you can always take a taxi, won’t charge you more than 10 euro. Bus will drop you at Plateia Eleutherias and you have to walk two mins. Enjoy your stay
Dear Brian T,
It will be our pleasure to welcome you in Olive Green Hotel. Regarding your question, we do have both iron and ironboard to use upon request. Moreover, a laundry service is available upon charge.
We remain at your disposal for any further request regarding your stay.
