I stayed here from 21/9 - 28/9/2021 and I have to say I’ve never been so disappointed. After a 4 and half hour flight and 2 hour bus journey we had to climb a steep hill and was given a very dry sandwich and crisp with a bottle of water before going to our room. The room was ok but the bathroom was not. There was huge cracks in the tiles the toilet didn’t work and I had to ask for the shower head to be changed as it was extremely dirty. The bed was so hard I would rather have slept on the sun lounger. Although the breakfast was passable the evening meal was not. From 19.30 - 21.30 but by 8.30 there was not much left and nothing else being brought out. The food was barely warm and tasteless. Several times we ate out. There are some good points. The staff in restaurant and housekeeping were very nice, friendly and helpful. The older female receptionist however was not. Then we have the pool snack bar. The food served here was absolutely delicious and just a shame they didn’t have the same chef in the restaurant. Vasiliki the girl that works in the snack bar always smiling and delivered excellent customer service. I liked the pool. Definitely not a 3*+.

Dear R3277SGirenes, First and foremost we would like to thank you for choosing Elounda Ilion Hotel for your stay and for taking the time to write this review Your feedback is very much appreciated and has been communicated to the relevant departments to be reviewed. It is with concern to find out that you weren't satisfied with our restaurant food , however I will take the liberty of mentioning that there is always a difference between an a la carte restaurant where everything is cooked upon order and a buffet which caters for a number of people within a specific timetable. Hopefully you will give us another opportunitiy to welcome you back and prove that we can do better. Best Regards,

We visited the Ilion in September, our first holiday abroad post Covid. The hotel was impeccably clean with the room cleaned thoroughly daily and fresh linen regularly. The breakfast was buffet style, with disposable gloves provided at each sitting, to be used when dishing up food - masks had to be worn when in inside communal areas. Food was wonderful with a good selection. The staff where friendly and helpful with the reception manned 24 hours. The hotel is on a hill with some rooms a decent climb - not suitable for those with walking difficulties. The bungalows where lower down and easier to access. The view from our room was beautiful- fantastic sea view! The walk to Elounda took about 20 minutes but was downhill - we enjoyed the walk back but was uphill although not a steep hill. Definitely recommend!!

This hotel was very peaceful and relaxing but we were there out of school holidays, if the hotel was full it could be a different story altogether. The pool is a good size for 10 people cooling down but not for more than 3 families at any one time! Set on a hillside amongst beautiful gardens, with views from the pool, large sun terrace and I'd say most of the rooms as they all seemed to be facing the sea. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues or if you didn't have a energy levels to walk 10 mins uphill! It is also a 35-45 mins walk to Elounda town centre where you will have the bars, restaurant and tavernas along with nearest public beach and the harbour/port. Unless you are planning half board and spending most of your time around the hotel I would suggest a car. Don't rent your car via reception (280 Euros), turn left out the Hotel gates and walk 5 mins to Elounda Car rental found next door to a small supermarket on your left. 150 Euros for 7 days they drop off and collect at the hotel. Rooms were very spacious and immaculately clean with towels and linen changed every other day. Beds a little on the hard/uncomfortable side. Breakfast was perfectly fine with plenty of fresh fruit greek yogurt, ham & cheese, fresh baked bread and small pastries. No live cooking and only a choice of hard boiled or fried eggs, the omelette choice a couple of times a week was solid rubbery offering & not edible in my opinion. Plenty tea & coffee from a machine but the grapefruit & orange juice wasn't fresh, more like very weak cordial, which was ok! We were planning on B&B but it was a marginal difference for HB so we thought it would be good to have the option to alternate with what turned out to be fabulous tavernas in the area. Dinner was ok but not exceptional. Always a fantastic salad bar with one of the nicest Greek Salads I have had, the feta was creamy, tomatoes fresh and sweet. Again fresh baked bread, a different soup each night which was fine. The evening meal was slightly let down by the hot options. Again no live cooking and the food was was only ever barely warm and tasted as if it had been made and kept warm for ages. Some choices were better than others but certainly not the standard of fresh cooked in a restaurant or taverna. It was a shame because the food served from the pool bar during the day was 100% better. Freshly cooked, hot and very tasty. If the hotel had a courtesy bus maybe to and from the town, it would help those who prefer not to drive or walk to the beach and bars. there are taxis but the cost could mount up at about 16 euros round trip! As a footnote they were going to charge 30 Euros to keep our room for an evening departure, even though we didn't arrive till after midnight on our first day!!!! We didn't bother as we had the room til noon and there is a showers room with shower gel in the pool toilets, and if you need a hairdryer the beautiful toilets in reception have a hairdryer fitted. So after a day by the pool, long lunch and a quick shower and change we were relaxed for our transfer at 7pm.

Dear Mr, We are very happy you chose Elounda Ilion Hotel for your stay in Elounda. We are proud to know that you enjoyed our services. Your recommendations for our breakfast and dinner options are being discussed with our chef. I would though like to take this opportunity and clarify something, since it is a misunderstanding from a lot of our guests, that even though you arrived late on your first night, the room was ready and prepared for you from 14:00on the dy of your arrival. It is very difficult for nay hotel to know in advance if guets have morning or evening flights and that is the reason fo standard check in and check out times. We do hope to have the chance to welcome you back at Elounda Ilion Hotel in the nearest future. With Kind Regards,

We were fortunate enough to get away and landed a last minute deal at this wonderful hotel which totally surpassed all high expectations. I cannot recommend it more highly, the views are incredible, the rooms were spotless and serviced every day. The photos on the website do not do this very modern and extremely well maintained hotel the justice it truly deserves the views are spectacular from every angle. We found all staff really professional and friendly, Albert was so hard working and deserves a special mention, what a great guy. We took the half board option which was a great call as the food was fantastic, great quality and choice, lots of variations, the restaurant was incredibly organised and well positioned at the top of the hotel looking over the pool and bay. We have visited many parts of Greece on many occasions but Elounda was very special Book this hotel and I guarantee you will not be disappointed we feel extremely fortunate to have had the pleasure of visiting it.
