We went to this hotel in June, it was lovely. We had upgraded to a bungalow room which was well worth it for the extra. The breakfast was extremely varied. Its a bit of a walk into town and the buses we found weren't that regular. We didin't go to the bar very often but it was quite pricey but I would recommend

We had a 10 night stay in a room with shared infinity pool. We spent the whole holiday on the sun loungers and jumping into the pool to cool off. We were on BB which was perfect for us. Ordered lunch delivery from local tavernas and walked into Eloúnda each evening for dinner. Fantastic holiday totally spoilt as we got an amazing room with the sun all day. The other rooms middle and end weren’t so lucky. Would definitely go back but only if we had same room.

We arrived at Elounda Palm hotel with our daughter and boyfriend where we had originally booked two classic sea rooms as we wanted to be able to enjoy the breathtaking views of Elounda and spinalonga. On arrival we were surprised with a free upgrade to the hotels villa which had its own private pool and also the amazing views that all the other sea view rooms had.We were however told that we could only have the room until Sunday as it had been booked so we would need to change back to our original booking on Sunday morning which wasn't a problem as we knew we would have a balcony and sea view. However Saturday we went to reception to ask what room we would be in and find out what time we would have to leave the villa we were told after the second time of asking that they didn't know what room it would be as they had had some last minute bookings which did cause us some concern (would we even have a room !) On Sunday morning we asked again and we were told that we were in the rooms down the steps from the pool !! These rooms are tiny and definitely dont have sea views and have no balcony these rooms are advertised on the web site as garden rooms. After complaining and asking why we hadn't been given our original rooms we booked we were told that there were no other rooms available and that they were see view rooms. I checked the website and they were definitely from the write up garden view rooms so we went back to reception and all of a sudden two rooms were available!!!It took us all morning to sort it out with reception which totally ruined the last day of what had been a great holiday we ended up in a garden view room at the back of the hotel with no sea view and no balcony just a terrace with chair and table! Might sound ungrateful but we would have just stuck with our original booking had we have known we would of had to mess around for most of the day and end up in a room we hadn't booked. Moral of the story dont trust an upgrade !! And if you do check what room you will be in if it's not for the whole duration of the holiday.

We are a family of 3 with a 14 year old lad, we arrived in on a late flight so didn’t arrive at the hotel until midnight where we were met by the night porter who checked us in and walked us to the room which was down a few poorly lit steps and up a little small hill and up some more stairs to our room on the 1st floor. Room 402 (humping 3 heavy cases in the heat poorly lit wasn’t the best) We had booked a superior bungalow with a sea view which this room was not. The hotel had put some sandwiches in the fridge and a small bottle of water. The room was red hot and the A/C unit wasn’t cooling the room, we decided just to try and get some sleep and sort the room out in the morning. (Very difficult) Note - we had contacted the hotel prior to our arrival to up grade our room to a private pool suite which we had been told if there was one available we could upgrade and pay the difference when we were here. In the morning I went down to see the receptionist Who I think was expecting me she asked if I could return later and they would sort me out. To which they did and offered me a ground floor garden room next to the pool, room 583 which was small but much nicer than the previous one, we accepted and were told if a pool suite was available we could upgrade. Room 583 nice and clean but small with a tiny bathroom and nowhere near enough cupboard space for our clothes. I believe this room was called a standard garden room (bungalow?) with a sea view (I have since been informed this room is actually a superior bungalow) A couple of days later we were offered an upgrade to a 3 shared pool room for 40euros a night. We had a look and decided to stay where we were and wait for a suite with a private pool (rooms 601-614 new) which we had looked at and were exactly what we wanted. Every day I asked and every day was informed none available, so we are still in our standard room?? With 2 nights to go of a two week holiday looks like it’s not going to happen. On a last note on the Room situation an American family who have just turned up have been moved/upgraded from their initial room into A Suite with its own private pool so when I asked again were there any rooms availability no was the answer again 🤔(well there never will be if they give them away to others) Room cleaners are in every day and do a grand job Overall the hotel is lovely, well kept and very friendly staff who can’t do enough for you We are half board the buffet breakfast is the same every morning with enough choice for everyone. The evening meals are okay, the soup is different every night and loads of choice in sweets, Pasta and various meats/fish for mains offer a variety of choice (could be better) We decided we would eat out every 2 or 3 nights and there are some lovely restaurants in and around Elounda. The pool restaurant (Dakos) is open for lunches but you can’t have a half board lunch and miss your evening meal) The pool bar (Mellow) has a wide choice of drinks (quite expensive even for the local beer) small coke 2.80 euro Bottle of Corona and a glass of prosecco 5 & 10 euro respectively The pool is salt water and cleaned every morning by the maintenance team Sun beds - plenty both around the pool and in the gardens never had a problem as they can’t be reserved Towels can be hired for the duration of your stay for 5 euros and can be changed as many times as required Elounda harbour is about 20-25 minutes walk down hill at times no path as you get nearer the centre and it is a busy road - tip cut off and walk along the front as soon as you can. Get a taxi back, taxis are available from the centre of the harbour at a cost of 6 euros (Well worth it in the August heat) During our visit there were very few British people in the hotel, it was largely French (observation only no issue) and with it being a family run hotel the family holiday there as well. Our overall opinion of the hotel it’s very quiet and great for relaxing and winding down, great friendly staff. If you want more the island of Crete offers that Our son was happy as the WiFi covers all the hotel.

Just returned from one weeks stay (I wish it was longer). The hotel is boutique and very friendly. We arrived with our two young teenagers, mid afternoon and discovered that I'd forgot to specify two singles for them.... not a problem we were offered a choice of rooms available which gave us an opportunity to have a noisy at the rooms with private pools. As tempting as they were, the worry was it would be difficult to do anything else than lounge in it for the whole week. So they opted for a garden room whilst we stayed with our roof top room with huge terrace with views of the whole bay prefect for pre dinner drinks and post dinner drinks. The landscaping in the hotel is perfect from grassy terraces to a fresh herb garden (use by the chef - more about the in a min) to beautiful tree canopy shaded areas, open air cinema and more... they have thought long and hard and created a perfect oasis. The food.... exceptional... the lunch menu at the pool in particular... fresh grilled sardines, pan fired tuna, octopus etc... its not extensive but it doesn't have to be, its fresh, local (those herbs) and cooked/presented really well. We went half board and breakfast and the evening food was likewise exceptional.... grilled prawns, duck with dates, mussels a few favourites. Location is around a 15 minute walk (downhill) to the sea and another 5/10 minutes to the main square of Elounda (for boat trips etc) whilst this was no bother for us (going down) there is the option of a taxi for 6 Euro. Spa is a lovely addition and an hours long massage was just the ticket. I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
