Cool Living option room 706 with balcony jacuzzi. This really is a lovely place. Tranquil. Lovely food. Staff amazing. Quick to respond to any issues. Small issue with air con reported and sorted within 10 mins. The views are stunning. The rooms are tastefully designed with high quality furniture. Top restaurant is a stunning place to eat in the morning and evening. Sun beds are great on the beach. Good vibes in the amphitheater restaurant especially dj night which was on a Thursday for our stay. This is not a club style event just some background tunes. This is not a typical all inclusive resort with people getting mashed, queuing for endless alcohol. It is much more refined. The gym has two high quality running machines a bike and stepper, dbs, kbs, slam and wall balls and a couple of machines. Plenty to allow decent hit session. Couple of minor recommendations for the gym - install a wall ball target otherwise these are difficult to use without damaging the wall. Provide Allen key so jump ropes can be adjusted for length. Also the hotel website is slightly misleading in that it appears to offers a fitness program including dumbbell and kettle bell workouts under the view “sample lessons” option. There is a daily programme of yoga, Pilates and a core stability session. There is no hi intensity or strength programme. In my view, offering some strength and conditioning classes in addition to the yoga offering could elevate this resort to the next level. Addressing some of the complaints I see on other reviews: 1- wasps - natural peril of outdoor eating. Not aggressive and only mildly annoying. 2 - steep hill and wait for transport - the shuttle times are clearly published and you can always get a lift up on a golf cart by passing staff. There are stairs behind the main blocks which cut out the first part of the road. The walk is steep in places but will burn some calories for those who are minded to walk. It is hard to fault this place. The manager is always on site, approachable and actively seeking feedback. The staff group all appear to be happy and are clearly well trained in customer service. Bar and restaurant staff all great. Special mention to spyros for cocktails and chat. September seemed like a good time to visit. Temperatures were nice and sea warm and calm. Price through BA website was good value compared to other options. We went for the shared bus transfer from airport which although a lot cheaper was a bad choice as the resort is probably the last drop off. Although the likely transfer time was accurate on the website and is clear that you might be held at the airport for an hour waiting for other travellers. The walk into Elounda is flat and easy if you want to venture further the peninsula opposite offers a decent circular walk. Moderate in places. I highly recommend the hotel.

Just returned from a two week holiday and we had a fabulous time! Thank you to the hilarious Manager Dimitrios and all the other members of the team for making our holiday truly very special, nothing was ever too much trouble and everyone had a great sense of humour! I could name everyone personally but it would take too long and I would fear I missed someone out so a big 👏👏👏 to everyone! The location is amazing with breath taking panoramic views! Once again, a big thank you for our ‘de-stressing holiday’, it worked! 😊 Michael & Damien ❤️

Throughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were attentive, helpful and always smiling - this hotel has a real family feel with a big heart. We were lucky enough to enjoy the Cool Living pool and bar but the beach was my favourite. The two staff here couldn’t do enough bringing round drinks, towels etc. always easy to get food, a drink, bed etc. The restaurant by the pool was fab for a casual lunch and we enjoyed the a la carte restaurant for the evenings it was open. Drinks were plentiful with great bar staff and sometimes with specialty cocktail mixologists which was a real treat. The buffet dining was fine but we also enjoyed the odd meal out at Plaka and Elounda, both easy walking distance or a short taxi ride. The views are amazing here and we loved the buggy rides and sunrise in the morning for a photo op! Spinalonga def worth a trip - get the early boat from Plaka to enjoy it with minimal company for an hour or two. Special mention also to housekeeping - our room was serviced in an exemplary manner all week. We also loved the staff on the front desk who couldn’t be more helpful and the General Manager who always took so much time out to speak to guests and enrich everyone’s stay. We look forward to returning. Mr and Mrs Alepou

We booked a week stay with our grown up family at the beginning of September. We had two Sapphire Suites that comfortably accommodated three adults each, with ample room to spread out. We had great views across the bay to Spinalonga, even from the lower rooms. There was the added convenience of being close to restaurant, main bar & pool. The rooms are well equipped with a Nespresso machine and mini-fridge. The shower is over the bath, but was hot & powerful. Cool living have their own pool & restaurant but have the inconvenience of having to call a buggy to travel to the main part of the hotel or pool. The food provided was of good quality and freshly made every day. Good choice with a variety of freshly cooked dishes. Worth waiting for a table outside to watch the sun go down in the evening. Better indoors with air conditioning during the day. It is a pity that the food labels showing allergen information were not filled in. We therefore had to wait for the chef every time my wife requested gluten-free foods. This is unfortunately standard in most hotel buffets. The beach area was very small & a single row of beds filled up very early in the morning. There were however always beds available around the main pool. Staff were exceptional & went out of their way to ensure guests were all having a good time. A minor problem with our room air conditioning was fixed immediately and followed by a letter of apology and a complementary spa treatment! The Spa and gym were small but well equipped with very professional staff. Overall, we were very pleased the we had chosen Domes Aulus. It is only 15-20 minutes walk from the centre of Elounda and even going all inclusive, we thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of walking to some of the excellent nearby tavernas. The seafront pavement to Elounda is wide, safe and well lit.

Domes Aulus (formerly Elounda Blue) commands a spectacular location overlooking Elounda Bay and Spinalonga Island. Views and sunrise are breathtaking. As a result, however the walk from the reception area to the rooms is up a steep hill which not everyone can manage! There are buggies available. The hotel unfortunately does not live up to the management description or the photographs. It is not clear whether the transition is moving up or down. It seems that decorators have moved in with hundreds of gallons of masonry paint and made everywhere Beige. Not stylish, just drab. They make other claims. The food is described as ' top notch' but I dispute this. The charcuterie and deserts are good but the main courses are repetitive and not well presented. The pool cannot possibly be described as good size and the beach may well be secluded but it is no more than a narrow strip of gravel on the other side of the road. Suite 323 was spacious with massive TVs. and air con was good. The bathroom was dreadful. Only a handheld mixer shower over the bath with a curtain and painted grey. The bar area had all the charisma of a waiting room and badly needed improved lighting. Having said all that - the staff were delightful and hard working, the drinks and wine were of good quality and in generous portions and most important of all the manager was visible and contactable and did seem to want to keep standards high. All in all, it was a pleasant holiday.

We loved our stay at this hotel but it would have been so much better had we been given all information when we checked in. We were staying in the too cool living part (definitely worth it) which is amazing but no one told us and no one told us what this meant, we spent our whole stay gradually finding out more information which was frustrating. On arrival we were not told we could have breakfast at the top so on the first two days we ate down in the large buffet space which was not as nice. We were also not told the cool living restaurant was also at our disposal which again was incredible but we missed out two nights. It’s 5 star up in the cool living section and the food was incredible the only downfall was the giant hill which we had to wait for either a shuttle or a golf buggy down to the main hotel - one time we waited 20 mins which was annoying and the hill is so steep I actually found the journey up and down quite scary. The beach was lovely (much nicer than the pools) but it was quite hard to get good sun loungers - annoyingly people got up early to reserve with towel but then would only be there for 1/2 hours a day. The accommodation was beautiful and we had a sharing pool but annoyingly our terrace was in shade all day. Overall it was good but needs improvements and could have been much better if all had been clearer.

We booked an all inclusive 7 night break at Domes Aulus Elunda.A private transfer was arranged from Heraklion prior, this took about 70 mins, (coach much longer). Upon arrival Maria gave us the reception debrief, telling us what we could and could not use. COOL LIVING "concept" was explained to us , for an extra 80 euro per night we would have access to the Greco Lavante restaurant ( which you cannot reserve due to over subscription - also EVERYTHING has to be booked via a QR code. we did not not take up the offer ( thank goodness) The hotel is built into a hill side, there is only a lift within the main building , NOT to any of the rooms , some of the slopes are REALLY steep , rooms in the 200 -300's are the lowest but still with great views. Ours, 325 has a massive tree blocking most of the sea, and more importantly SPINALONGA. Reception do offer a golf buggy service to the heights. The room itself (NEST) was adequate but small by normal 5 star standards, Comfy bed, horrible pillows, lovely shower area and toiletries, good tea/coffe making facilities.Good soundproofing. The Island restaurant was a buffet style setting, great views inside or out. Food choice was great if you like salads cold meats etc, hot was was acceptable but not in my opinion of 5 star rating. Lower ( salt water)pool was small but Never overcrowded and getting a sun bed was easy. Where the hotel excels is in the staffing, very overworked but always happy to help. From the room cleaning staff to the waiters and bar staff, special credit goes to EDDIE (waiter) and Anastasis (bar waiter) ,they went above and beyond to make you feel special. We recieved a free voucher to the amphitheatre restaurant, good but not special, but had to wait till almost the end of our trip to get a booking. you had the feeling at all times that the hotel somehow needed to improve its booking systems ( spa included). If the above seems negative, it is not meant to be, we had a wonderful holiday, but they are points to bear in mind. Tip: If you are going to visit Spinalonga, 1. buy your boat ticket at reception ( same price every where 10euro) saves the queue. 2. order a taxi to Plaka (8 euro) much shorter boat ride than Elounda. 3. Most Important :get the first boat about 10;00. as the day goes on the crowds get massive and you only have an hour on the island. 4.When you get off the boat on the island there is an 8 euro charge per person to visit.
