Stunning hotel on the eastern edge of Crete. The hotel delivers the first class accommodations and service expected from this type of property. The only suggestion I'd make is to leave the property to get lunch and dinner - the breakfasts were great and the one dinner we had on site was fine but there are much better options off- site
Staying at the wonderfully named minoan royalty villa , a little larger than the less royal bungalows we have stayed in previously . when we stay at cobblers cove in barbados in their colleton suite the manager used to say guests almost never leave their room and it was a bit like that here one of our daily pleasures was breakfast outside by our pool , white tablecloth , everything laid out immaculately, fresh fruit , pastries light as a feather served by a most pleasant guy , similiarly we regularly had a light lunch there again a pleasure. However we did venture our for lunch occasionally at the yacht club with those wonderful views of the boats and the blue, blue sea maybe a some grilled fish or a trip to their other hotel down the road outside by a little pool with fish swimming about , excellent food , we ate at this hotel s italian restaurant many times in the evening - for a change from the yacht club , then the old mill which for some reason we didnt like much on our previous visit but where we had possibly our best meal of our holiday. In the evening we usually ended up in the hotel bar served by the friendly George writing this i am almost transported back to this little understated gem of a hotel with as i have said before its pretty gardens , quiet spots to sit and contemplate the views. At the beach Bar Anna , the lovely smling Anna making all the guests laugh, spoiling us with little canapes at lunch to go with our rose champagne - eve or Evvie as the called here serving the wine in the yacht club, the very efficient manager and manageress there . There you have it.…
Finally, we had been able to visit again the wonderful Resort of Elounda Mare. It was again a great stay with wonderful food, „our“ Villa #41 and most importantly a team which makes us feeling home and welcomed every time. No request stood open, all reservations for dinner in esch of the restaurants went seamlessly and flexible. Awesome experience was the dinner in the spectacular restaurant Old Mill. Despite flooding and heavy thunderstorms, they welcomed and hosted us. Only us, we have to admit and that felt great ( sorry for the other guests, who haven’t git that special treatment and opportunity). In particular, we like to thank cordially Marina, who was available almost every time and she managed everything with great passion and outstanding performance. We‘ll come back next June, that’s for sure. Petra and Joachim …
Worth waiting all this time to revisit. Had 12 fabulous days at The Elounda Mare. Warmly welcomed on arrival and found all the staff so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. So lovely to see so many familiar faces as well. Such a beautiful hotel with lovely grounds - start to relax as soon as we arrive. Our Bungalow ( No 7 ) was well positioned, spacious and with great views. We loved the bungalow pool which is great to relax in and around. Soon slipped into the timeless, classical ways of the Elounda Mare with its lovely grounds ( so well looked after by the staff), great restaurants , beach and main pool. Covid precautions were well managed and felt very comfortable. Liked that we had to book the gym every day as we felt obligated to go every day! In addition to our lovely swim before breakfast across the bay. We loved the Dine Around facility giving access to the restaurants at all three hotels with a convenient shuttle service .Really high standard with our favourite being The Old Mill ( great management team and sommelier) , followed by Yacht Club , Koh and Aglio Olio. So convenient to have the excellent Spa facilities at one of the sister hotels which provides great treatments. We also met an old school /rugby friend and his wife who like us have been visiting this hotel for over 30 years and for the first time, we were there at the same time which made for some most enjoyable dinners. Strong hotel management team led by Harry Maranghides and that professionalism shows throughout all aspects of the hotel which really makes this such a great hotel to visit. Till the next time!…
It had been a few years since we last visited Elounda Mare and we weren’t too sure how this stunning hotel would have faired in the crazy season we have all experienced. We were stunned at how they have adapted to comply with Covid guidelines but not lost any of the charm, attentive service and wonderful food. This is a hotel where you walk through the front door and straight away relax - the setting is so beautiful and all rooms and villas have spectacular views. Thank you to all the staff who make us feel so at home here.
First return since many years and happy to note, very little had changed. The point of Elounda Mare is its charm. Stunning setting and views, tranquil, spacious, lovely friendly service from all the staff, its like coming 'home'.
If you are used to 5 star hotels this isn’t it. The Beach and grounds are fantastic and we loved the food. We had a suite which was spacious but the furniture looked like they had been there since 1970 and were uncomfortable. There was no way to relax and I’m not sure I wanted to since the furniture looked stained. The staff was friendly. The Internet only works sometimes so they offer you to get premium at a daily rate but that also is spotty. Don’t pay for the internet if you don’t have it, the connection is weak. Don’t buy a dive in the property, its $80 for one dive. They charged me $80 for 2 dives at the hotel 2 minutes down the street. The hotel is clean and housekeeping does a good job. You have to reserve an umbrella at the beach in the morning. Stefanos brought our food every night and he was a joy to meet. The man in charge of the breakfast area was also fantastic. Whatever you want he will get and he is super nice about it. Whatever you buy you will pay luxury prices but unfortunately it’s not a luxury hotel. They must update the furniture!!!…
Peaceful and lovely - just great for a brief stay on charming Crete. Bright, airy and spacious accommodation with a well-sized private garden and pool on request. The hotel also graces its guests with a lovely little sandy beach. The staff are courteous and many of them clearly seem to have been happily working here for various years; all this contributed towards a memorable stay.
1/9 Heaven on Earth! Beautiful setting and upkeep of the grounds. Spacious modern and well equipped room with private pool, steps away from a picturesque sandy beach with clear blue water. Great selection of items on the menu at the restaurant. Food was very well prepared and restfully presented. A perfect spot for the relaxing vacation of your dream. We will be back!
