Nestled in a tranquil bay, Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas is hailed for its picturesque location with easy beach access, although the high cost of onsite dining and services has led some guests to recommend eating out. The hotel's service receives mixed reviews, with accolades for staff friendliness contrasted by occasional reports of inconsistency.
While amenities are widely celebrated, opinions on the atmosphere and rooms vary, with modern updates needed alongside the praised spaciousness and views. Cleanliness is generally commended, despite sporadic housekeeping schedules.

Location isn’t necessarily everything but it certainly goes a long way. There are super views from virtually everywhere here.
Walkable into Elounda itself for cheaper and more varied restaurants, bars, trips to Spinalonga, etc. Taxis are efficient, turn up on time and cost 9 Euros each way.
The restaurant offering at the hotel (and its sister hotel next door where Thalassa is well worth a visit) is however pretty good, albeit quite pricey as others have commented. Argonaut and Thalassa both have water views and Kafenion the taverna is great for a quick lunch or evening meal. Service we found to be good, friendly, efficient.
Breakfast was hectic when we first arrived but got quieter as guests went home. Choose your time if you visit at a busy time of year! That having been said the choice was extensive and frequently replenished and the breakfast staff were great. A special shout-out to Giannis and also to Eva and Aggela on the egg station.
We had a sea view villa with pool a few minutes walk from the main hotel, close to a small beach. Well-appointed, maybe slightly old-fashioned to some (lots of wood), but it was huge with great views across the bay. Plenty of free bottled water, fruit and lovely flowers were provided. Housekeeping was OK, but judicious use of the do not disturb button was needed for privacy!
The beach lounger system (chat to the beach guys as soon as you get there and you’ll be given a bed for your stay) works pretty well but can be infuriating when you see beds close to the sea unused for the whole day. That having been said it largely avoids the towels-on-beds rush hour that can be experienced at other hotels. Swings and roundabouts.

We booked an Island water front bungalow for 7 night and on our arrival we were delighted to be told that we had been upgraded to a water front wellness suite. The room was very large with a very large bathroom, steam room, running machine and jacuzzi bath. This room was very dated and lacked furniture. The bathroom was so large you felt you were at a public swimming pool. Very bright fluorescent lighting as well in the bathroom. We stayed in this room for a few nights, but it was not a room you looked forward to going back to at the end of the day. We seemed to be in the middle of other waterfront accommodation that was all unoccupied, and still had to be made ready for guests. Lots of sunbeds stacked up on the waterfront which made the location of our room appear to have an abandoned feel about it. We kept hearing a banging noise all night and on investigation it was a couple of the doors to unoccupied rooms that were not shut correctly banging in the wind. We tried to close them but the locks were broken. We made an appointment with Maria the guest experience manager and showed her the website and the accommodation that we had booked online and explained that we felt that the upgraded room was well below the standard of the original room and it was making us quiet miserable being in there. We showed her where we were staying and said we felt our room had been thrown together last minute to accommodate us. Maria was fantastic and moved us to another waterfront room and this was amazing. Very modern decor, bright, light and exactly how we imagined our initial booking was going to be. I agree with some of the other reviews that maintenance seemed to be happening all around and didn’t understand why this was not done earlier in the year. Apart from the accommodation issue, the place is amazing. Staff all so friendly, food and restaurants were excellent. The beach was beautiful and the beach staff all so attentive. We will definitely return but choose our accommodation more carefully as we would want to be in a renovated room again.

We have just returned from our latest stay at Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas. The whole experience continues to be 5*. Everything about the resort is perfect and we will certainly be returning in the future. Our excellent accommodation was well maintained by Housekeeping on a twice daily basis, the extensive grounds are beautifully maintained, the private beach and pool with their loungers are impressive, the restaurants and bars are a delight but above all every single member of staff throughout the site is helpful, friendly, professional and a great credit to the Hotel. As in the past, we stayed in a villa overlooking the beach and the sea, near to the main hotel building, and on a half board basis, which represents great value for money against menu individual prices - a perfect combination for us which ensures seamless enjoyment of all the facilities. As regular visitors we used the Guest Loyalty arrangements for our booking – and enjoyed the benefits that brings - and a big thank you goes to Lia Prentza, the Guest Loyalty Manager and her colleague Vassia for ensuring our stay was perfect. The same has to be said about the Reception staff who are only too happy to offer help and advice including making restaurant bookings – and always with a smile on their faces. As with any quality hotel or resort, you would expect to make bookings in advance for the restaurants and that is easily achieved through Reception. We visited each of the four restaurants on more than one occasion during our stay and found them to have great menus, lovely staff and excellent food. Yes, you do have to pay for all drinks, but these do not have to be ridiculously expensive, and you can always take advice from the charming sommelier who is on hand, about choices as far as wine is concerned . The extensive, high quality breakfast buffet arrangements are equally good. The hotel was very busy during our stay and thus lots of visitors were in the breakfast area each morning, but by simply waiting to be seated by the staff, we had no problems in being shown to a table without delay and enjoying the delightful food. So, all in all, a very good stay in an excellent 5* resort and we will return in 2025. Which brings me, finally, to query the few recent quite derogatory reviews about parts of the Elounda Beach experience. They do not represent our opinion nor, I suspect, the views of many others.

This was our honeymoon so we were looking forward to this 5 star accommodation. First impressions were good upgrade to room, spa vouchers and spectacular views. However we soon realised that the upgrade was not all it seemed as upgrades seem to be the norm and spa vouchers were €50 and the cheapest spa treatment is €100 so a ploy to make you spend!. The upgraded room we were given was down a corridor which seemed to be the home for a hoover , cleaning materials, laundry bags and dirty plates. Not what I would expect to see in a 5 star hotel. Yes I expect to see them whilst cleaning is taking place but not still be there later on in the day. On the subject of cleaning 3 times in the 7 days the cleaner wanted to clean the room at 8am before we had been to breakfast, not very customer focused more about getting the job done. Which leads me to the chaotic breakfast where tables which appeared free were being kept for certain guests (although tables were not reserved ) and then you could wait 20 minutes to be served with hot drinks! We soon learnt that if you dressed for breakfast (collared shirt/dress) you were given better service than in shorts and t shirt. Obviously dress to impress which seemed a bit strange for breakfast! There were some good bits to the stay the reserved sunbeds on the beach, the clean towels twice a day, bottled water in rooms and on the beach but on the whole we were left disappointed . The final straw was on the last day when we were due to leave. The hotel does not have a courtesy room and all rooms were booked as there was a conference starting that day . We were told we could shower at the Spa, which we did but then needed to put things back in the suitcase, At this point one of the hotel managers got very annoyed that I had my suitcase in reception and told me I should go in a corridor to put things in it. She obviously did not want to spoil the image of the hotel for her conference guests !! They were obviously more important than paying guests. So for a holiday that was supposed to be special we left very disappointed and let down by a hotel that promotes itself a world leader.

Dear Alison, Thank you for you for taking the time to review your stay at the Elounda Beach Hotel and for letting us have your feedback. We were delighted to be able to allocate a Deluxe Hotel Suite Sea View for your stay, which was a complimentary upgrade by five categories on your reserved accommodation. It was disappointing, therefore, to learn that the experience did not meet your expectations. Our resort is extremely popular and during your visit was operating at almost maximum occupancy. This does mean, however, that some complimentary facilities which are dependent upon availability, may not be on offer and that there may be periods during our three hour breakfast buffet that will be busier than others. It is unfortunate that our Concierge staff were unaware of your dissatisfaction whilst you were here as we would have been able to address the issues immediately. We hope, however, that you will visit us again in the future so that we may have the opportunity to ensure your total satisfaction. Kind regards, Alexandros S.Koutsodontis General Manager

The hotel clearly shows its age (built in 1971), and some parts of it, including certain rooms and common areas, would benefit from significant renovation, particularly regarding the furniture. However, these minor drawbacks are more than compensated for by the many positive aspects. First of all, the FOOD: The food is excellent, starting with the varied breakfast, continuing with the delightful fish lunch at Argonaut, and culminating in a romantic dinner at Thalassa. At Thalassa, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner under the stars, in front of the waves, accompanied by the beautiful voice of a live, young, and sweet piano singer. It’s the perfect way to end each day. The ROOMS: The rooms are quite spacious, with large wardrobes—a feature not often found in modern hotels—and offer a true sea view. This is not a distant, partial, or imagined sea view, but a genuine one! (Unfortunately, the air conditioning is still centralized, but you can adjust the intensity of the airflow.) Additional highlights: There’s ample parking, a beach that’s never too crowded, and the hotel’s perfect location on one of the best Cretan bays—all of which contribute to its standing as a legitimate member of LHW (Leading Hotels of the World). However, perhaps the most important aspect is the staff: the service is truly five-star in every respect. They genuinely know how to treat their guests. Two staff members deserve special mention: Ioanna K. from the concierge, who remembers your name just after few hours and attends to your every need, ensuring there’s no restaurant where she can’t find you the perfect table. With Ioanna K., your vacation is effortless. Also worth mentioning is Ioannis K. from the spa—not just a simple “masseur,” but a true therapist. He is reserved, discreet, silent, and extremely professional. He listens to your body, dissolving even the smallest tension with his gentle yet powerful movements. After a treatment with Ioannis, you’ll feel like a new person! To sum up—yes, I definitely recommend Elounda Beach Hotel.

We had originally booked Elounda Palace hotel but we’re told about a week before the holiday that we had been changed to the Elounda Beach Hotel and villas, they are both part of the same resort next to each other. It’s a big complex, we were in the main hotel in a sea view classic room, it was a little disappointing as the room and bathroom were a bit tired and in need of a refurb. We had a nice balcony with a sea view, immediately below the balcony was the roof of the breakfast restaurant which was a large expanse white strips of wood. The room was serviced regularly with towels and bedding changed regularly. We were half board and The service in the restaurants was excellent and the food of a high standard. Drinks were expensive but on the whole we felt the holiday was good value. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was lovely to have designated beach beds with towels provided and a bell to press for beach bar service. It was quite a walk up to the main road but there were buggies to take you there were you could then walk into Elounda in about 10-15 minutes.

From the moment you arrive you know that this hotel is special. As can be expected in a 5* hotel the luggage is whisked away and magically arrives in your room. The reception area is large and welcoming. The hotel staff are attentive, friendly and very efficient.
The suite we stayed in had a massive double balcony with external furniture. The bedroom had a king sized bed which had electrically powered adjustment so you could get perfect position. My wife was also able to independently adjust her side. 3 large TVs were in the suite but sadly the only English channel was BBC World. No internet connected TV.
Our bathrooms had a jacuzzi, steam room and shower. The suite had easy to control air-conditioning and a Nespresso coffee maker. Bottled water was delivered everyday. There is extensive free fast wifi throughout the entire complex.
There are numerous specialty restaurants throughout and the breakfast buffet is magnificent.
Internal transport across the extensive site is via chauffeured electric buggies. We used to take a buggy to the main gate at the sister hotel Elounda Bay and take the short walk into Elounda itself to enjoy restaurants there.
The shallow waters of Elounda are accessible from various locations on site, a large unheated pool and a small heated pool in room 12 are available for guest use. There is lots to explore on this site including gardens, kids club, tennis courts, basketball, mini golf and there is a small shopping area.
You can hire a motor vehicle from the pleasant lady located in the reception area.
Well recommended

Dear Terry Thank you for taking the time to review Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas. Your detailed and insightful review paints a vivid picture of the exceptional experience you had on our hospitable grounds. The suite you stayed in sounds like a haven of luxury, with its expansive double balcony offering breathtaking views and the meticulously appointed bedroom featuring a king-sized bed with electrically powered adjustment. The inclusion of three large TVs, albeit with limited English channels, and the absence of internet-connected TV might have been minor inconveniences, but they pale in comparison to the overall comfort and opulence of the accommodations. Our hotel's culinary offerings, from the specialty restaurants to the magnificent breakfast buffet, undoubtedly delighted your palate and added to the overall indulgence of your stay. The hotel's amenities, from the shallow waters of Elounda to the various recreational activities and services ensured that there was something for every guest to enjoy especially yourselves! Your recommendation for Elounda Beach is a testament to the excellence of this establishment and will undoubtedly guide other travelers seeking a memorable and luxurious getaway. We are definitely looking forward to welcoming you back and offering you the best of our services. Kind regards, Alexandros ______________________________ Alexandros S. Koutsodontis General Manager

We have just returned from a fabulous week's holiday at the Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas. From the moment we were welcomed at reception by Laura and Kostas of Guest Services, we felt we received 5 star treatment and enjoyed a great week of relaxation, sunshine, delicious food and, above all, fantastic service by the amazing staff. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite with sea view in the Spa building - it was of a very good size and had beautiful views across the bay. Our maid, Valentina, could not have done any more to keep our room serviced. The hotel has a lovely beach with crystal clear waters as well as a large sea water pool - both were perfect for sunbathing. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet to cater for everyone's tastes and we ate at each of the four restaurants, which serve quality meals ranging from Greek to Italian, Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. Yes, the wine is more expensive than you would like to pay - but this hotel is all about quality and we did have a fridge that we could cool our own drinks and thoughtfully a corkscrew was provided. All the staff were helpful and friendly but special mention to Restaurant Manager Marianna, & Ntenisa & Panagiotis who looked after us so well. Also thanks to Ioanna on Guest Services who helped us with restaurant bookings and our trip to Spinalonga. The hotel is in a great location - a very pleasant 20 minute walk into Elounda. Would we recommend this hotel? - definitely yes. Will we return again? - definitely yes.

Fantastic! The whole complex is beautiful and well maintained, with new, great views of the sea everywhere.
We were upgraded to a room with a shared pool and get up early every morning to watch the wonderful sunrise with a coffee.
And even when it's stormy, you can sit on the terrace, sheltered from the wind, and look out over the beautiful sea.
What we also really like about the hotel: all the pools are filled with sea water. So there's no smell of chlorine.
There's a lawn around the large hotel pool with lots of olive trees providing shade. There are also lots of places with a sea view here.
The best thing of all is the small but lovely beach. Here you have a lounger reserved for the entire stay.
The food is very varied and delicious, you can make reservations in 4 different restaurants. Each has its own charm.
The staff is very friendly. I was even surprised with a cake on my birthday!
Even though the complex is so beautiful that you can relax here, it's worth renting a car. You can also book through the hotel and get wonderful tips for excursions from the friendly Dutch lady. Crete is so beautiful and diverse, whether it's the Lasitha plateau or a trip to neighboring towns, there is a lot to discover in this part of the island too.

We visited the hotel for 5 nights, we would love to have stayed longer and hope to return. We had booked a standard bungalow, when we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a newly decorated and refurbished superior sea view bungalow. What a lovely surprise, we were escorted to our accommodation and it certainly had the wow factor, a beautiful veranda with a settee and armchair plus a table and chairs. Once inside we found a very spacious light and airy room, beautifully decorated and with one of the largest bathrooms that I have ever seen, sunken bath, double sink, separate WC and a large enclosed shower that looked like a sauna, with a rain shower, hand shower and two side jets it was very decadent. We were able to walk into town in the evening and sample the numerous restaurants, we had lunch in the hotel but were a little disappointed in the menu at the beach bar, I had a toasted sandwich that was decidedly average given how much it cost, we ate in the Italian restaurant for lunch the next day, although there was limited choice for a light lunch we shared a pizza and salad which was of a much higher standard. We had breakfast every morning which was good and the staff were always very friendly and attentive, the chef preparing eggs was also very cheerful and accommodating. We visited the spa for a massage which was a real treat. The spa is in a tranquil setting with an outdoor pool where we were made to feel very welcome.
