Homey style Inn with great rooms and beautiful views of old town Chania! It's a lively and homey atmosphere! Each room has an artist theme to it and therefore no 2 are the same. I stayed in the DaVinci Suite. Breakfast was brought to us on the balcony and when we checked in we were greeted with Greek snacks and traditional Greek liquor. The hostess was one of the friendliest persons we met on our trip. But don't get me wrong...the Greeks are VERY friendly! It's in the heart of the walkable store ally ways with many shops to browse in. There are many, many restaurants, store fronts and things to do and see right by the waterfront as well. I really enjoyed my stay here!
Myself and my wife booked a last minute 4 day trip to Chania from Dublin at the end of October 2019 and arranged to stay bed and breakfast at the Belmondo hotel. It was just great. It is right behind the old harbour up a little side street. The room we had did not have a balcony/terrace but it was a beautiful old room with multi colour paints on the walls and ceiling. There are some hotels to the front and back of the hotel which look superb and which have balconies - some of them looking out over the beautiful harbour so talk to the hotel about which one you want. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The front door closes at 10pm for security reasons but you get a key!! There is a pizza restaurant under the hotel though I don’t think it is linked to it and we didn’t try it. The hotel is an elegant old three storey building without any lift but the stairs are not difficult. Breakfast can be served in your room or there is a small veranda outside the front door where you can sit and eat. Breakfast was slightly different every day and very nice. The variation was either an omelette or spinach pitta or a toasted ham/cheese sandwich. You also got a dish of yogurt, possibly a boiled egg and some bread and other trimmings. The hotel is beside the old harbour and loads of nearby shops and restaurants so a perfect place to stay in the town. They arranged a taxi from and to the airport for us at €23 each way which was reasonable. Lovely bathroom in the room, safe, hairdryer and stuff. Nothing much on the TV but that’s no problem! WI-FI works well subject to the odd very few seconds of blackout if you’re using your phone to listen to radio on line. Room has a lovely feel about it. If you don’t like hard beds you might have a problem with the hotel - i don’t mind firm mattresses but it might not be to everyone’s liking. That aside I would highly recommend the place and - bearing in mind of course that it was low season - the price was very reasonable and we had sun and 25 degrees all day every day even though it was the very last few days of October. …
Located in the middle of the bustling downtown, pedestrian Chania. You cannot drive to the hotel, have to park outside of the pedestrian area and walk several blocks. There are parking lots outside of this area, and street parking, but depending on what time you come, it can be pretty full and might have to park further away. No elevator, but staff helps with luggage. They greet you with drinks. Staff super friendly. Donna was very nice. Our room had a huge terrace, with chairs overviewing the harbor. You can walk in the busy harbor full of inviting restaurants or through the shopping area which is pretty comprehensive. The room was very comfortable, nicely decorated, cozy and clean. In the morning they brought breakfast in the room. I fully recommend it.
Stayed 6 days in September 2019. The location of the Belmondo is excellent as it is just 50 metres to the waterfront. There are some harbour side rooms which have balconies that open up over the waterfront. The other rooms are called 'City View' rooms. Breakfast is brought to your room and it is varied. It always includes yogurt, jams, bread, coffee and each day was different: one day fried eggs; next Greek breakfast ( which had to be requested); another day was local tomato and cheese on local bread. The lady who brings you your breakfast climbs up to two flights of stairs with a heavy tray. She is delightful- very friendly and cheery. The down side of the hotel is that it is in need of refurbishment to make it the quality establishment it advertises itself as. The beds are hard and some do not even have a mattress protector. They are also lumpy which would indicate either poor quality or age; pillows are old and hard (the foam in them has solidified almost). The bathroom is cramped and quite dangerous. If you are over a size 14 (Australian; size 12 US or 40 European) you could hardly get into the shower without grazing yourself getting in and out. The toilet was so close that your thighs kissed the wall. Some may describe rooms as 'charming'; 'quaint' however I would describe the room we had as old and needing some care ( curtains off rods for example). 'City view' as it was called faced a wall of another building. The fridge was noisy and needed to be turned off at night and the lack of a lift would make it impossible for an disabled person or elderly person to climb. Noise level at night was okay but shutters needed to be closed as music from local restaurant went until around 0200. It was disappointing and uncomfortable and both my travel companion and I had poor sleep due to the beds. If you are over 177 cms you would find the beds restricting. The reception staff are pleasant enough. If you are after location and a good breakfast then Belmondo may be a choice; however, do your research as there are innumerable hotels with same positioning in Chania and I suspect better facilities. If you are expecting a good night's sleep on a reasonably comfortable hotel and a shower that is comfortable to use then Belmondo is not the hotel you need.…
Location of this traditional little hotel is spectacular. Our room had a charming little veranda to eat your breakfast on which by the way is served to your room at anytime you wish. All the Staff were so friendly and helpful and made our short stay an absolute delight. We cannot wait to return
