We booked the hotel at short notice for our last night in Chania and were very impressed with the hotel itself on arrival. We were made very welcome by Erato, who gave us lots of information about places to eat and transport options and was very patient with my schoolgirl Greek. Our room was beautiful, the bed one of the most comfortable we’d had on our holiday. Breakfast in the garden was varied and satisfying and we really appreciated that we were able to spend time on the roof terrace after checkout, as our flight home was not scheduled until late night. Having spent the evening in Chania (and a great meal at the beautiful Ela) we were especially grateful again to the lovely Erato who booked us an airport shuttle and allowed us to use palatial shower facilities and fresh towels before we left. We would definitely recommend the Halepa Hotel, and would like to thank Erato particularly for her professionalism, patience and kindness.

A wonderful boutique hotel, just on the outskirts of Chania Town. Amazing staff, fab location, great rooms and a lovely feel.
Location - about 15 mins walk into the old town along the coast. Cross the road and walk down the road and the sea is more or less right there. Excellent for those not wanting to stay directly in the old town (parking is an issue) but close enough for evening meals etc. There is parking at the back of the hotel so no problem renting a car and finding somewhere to keep it. The Blue Restaurant is a few minutes down the road and a meal or two there is an absolute must as it's a great place for an evening meal with wonderful views across the sea.
Staff - all very very friendly (apart from the huffy lady who does the breakfasts!!) and everyone couldn't be more helpful.
Breakfast - one of the best I've ever had and included in the price. Plentiful supply of everything you'd expect with some interesting homemade dishes like spinach and ricotta pie if you're feeling more adventurous at breakfast! Grab as much as you like and sit outside in the garden or on the roof. The cats will keep you amused!!
Building - it was the old British embassy in Crete, so plenty of history and a lovely, lovely place to stay with the ornate fixtures and fittings and a feeling of opulence. Excellent location with the new archaeological museum behind. A tiny pool is up on the roof (more of a hot tub) with the roof terrace which is a great location in the evening to look across towards Chania old town with a drink. There are plenty of tables and loungers for the small number of guests this hotel accommodates.
Rooms - we had a family room which is 2 rooms with adjoining door. We had one room the kids were next door with the door always open and it worked really well. A good way of checking the cleanliness of a hotel is having a look under the beds. I tried that but it was spotless, so housekeeping staff do a great job. Everything you could want is in the room, including a fridge (doubles as a minibar), hairdryer, iron and ironing board etc. Extra pillows, blankets etc (not needed clearly at 35 degrees). Aircon works well and is not too intrusive. A little balcony is also included but the views are urban as rooms are generally set to the sides of the building, not the front. WIFI speeds are excellent and I was pulling about 130MB/s consistently, so excellent connectivity.

All in all, I highly recommend this hotel. For the price it's a bargain. I couldn't really fault it. Would definitely return in the near future. If you would like to visit Chania, I would highly recommend you shortlist this hotel without hesitation.

We stayed at the Helapa Hotel for 2 nights when exploring the Chania area of Crete during our two week holiday. Room was really nice with a good standard of traditional decoration and spotlessly clean. Lovely walk in shower and comfortable bed. There is a peaceful garden area just to sit in or to eat breakfast or snacks plus a rooftop area with small pool, lounger beds, tables and chairs under the shade if needed. Refreshments can be served also in this area. The staff were amazing and so helpful. The value for money with this standard of accommodation was the best we had I on our travels around Crete.

Run away! You can hear every sound from the other rooms: snoring, doors slamming, furniture moving, every little movement!

-The air conditioning doesn't work.
- Wifi doesn’t work and mobile phone doesn’t work inside the bedrooms.

- It's like being in a campsite, hearing and living with other people! When I reported this to the receptionist the next morning, she was obnoxious, didn't listen, had no empathy, and questioned my word: a disgrace! That's no way to treat a customer. She even reproached and accused me of having called the night receptionist, no apology, no commercial gesture! I wrote 2 e-mails to the hotel manager: he never had the respect to reply or apologize.

- Breakfast: plastic eggs, chemical orange juice with bits of filthy deposits (see photo),

- customer service: not up to 3-star standards. You're just a walking bank to them. Thanks God I'd only booked one night!
A beautiful hotel on the outside, old-fashioned on the inside, but the worst thing is the morning receptionist: no sense of customer service and diffamatory remarks. In France she would be fired. Horrible experience.

I booked another hotel with sea view the following night. So : AVOID this HALEPA hotel with no manager no manners no respect and noisy nightmare

Halepa must be my favourite holiday hotel. The rooms are comfortable and in good working order, the breakfasts are more than adequate but the staff are some of the friendliest and most obliging I have come across. They determine the welcoming tone of the hotel where nothing is too much trouble. The gardens are beautifully maintained and provide a romantic setting for a late night drink after returning from one of the town's excellent tavernas The hotel is about a twenty minute walk from the town centre and, as a result, is quiet in the evenings. To date I have stayed there on three different occasions and I hope to be returning again.

We had picked the Halepa hotel for a brief one night stay at the tail end of a 9 day Cretan family vacation that took us from Chania, to Rethymo, Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos, and then back again to Chania.

My expectations for the Halepa were modest; it was supposed to just be a place to rest my head.

However, the service blew me away. I was flying out separately from my wife and kids, and the hotel went out of their way to support our awkward travel plans. We were very appreciative of their help and support.

The hotel itself is charming, located close to the sea and the Chania Archaeological Museum. The on-site parking also has a charger for EVs!

Stayed here for two weeks for work-related travel. The staff was amazing: warm, friendly, and genuinely proud of the hotel.

The room was very comfortable, very clean, and excellently maintained. The location is ideal, as it is located directly across from the water, and within easy walking distance to several restaurants and shops.

I am planning a pleasure trip back to Chania (Crete) and will hopefully be able to book at the Halepa!

This is a very pleasant hotel with lovely staff. The rooms were clean and airy. There's a nice open area in front of the hotel with tables for drinks. It looks as if it is being restored as a garden. Breakfast was perfectly OK if nothing to get excited about. It's a walk of about 20 minutes (mostly along the seafront) into the centre of Chania where there must be 50 or more restaurants in the port area and probably many others in the town itself where we didn't venture. I would happily return there.

We stayed at Halepa for 6 days, July 14-21. Halepa Hotel is one of the best hotel experiences ever. A unique atmosphere and historic building nicely converted to a top hotel facility. Kostas Chrysanthos, the GM, and his staff engaged personally in making the stay a highly memorable experience for me and my family. Thanks Kostas for your hospitality and kindness! Great Cretan white wine experience and thanks a lot for the gifts!

Superb hotel with great location and old world charm. Nikos and Elefteria at the front desk were excellent hosts. My family enjoyed a wonderful 3 week stay. The breakfasts were superb. I recommend this boutique hotel to everyone looking for a great value near the city center and walking distance to the Venetian Port. Thanks again to the hotel staff for our magnificent stay.
