After a difficult 3 years we longed to return to the hotel for our 3rd visit this October. Fond memories of our visits were soon realised. Great welcome and so pleased to see all the same staff still there. The staff are what makes this hotel so special. They are always so helpful, chatty and cheerful, - on reception, breakfast, housekeeping, and of course cocktails in the bar late at night with George. From some of the staff we have learnt much about olive oil, raki, and honey production! The hotel is kept spotlessly clean, and the breakfast has a multitude of choices to start your day, all delicious, so thanks to all the support staff working behind the scenes too. Beautiful views from the hotel balcony you never forget, and the boats bobbing up & down in the harbour below. Chania is such a lovely city to visit with great restaurants all around, charming shops, and history everywhere. The new Archiological Museum is well worth a visit for a couple of hours. It was interesting to see the Old Market undergoing a long 2 year renovation project,- the whole roof and interiors having now been completely removed ! The weather was not great the first few days following the bad storms, but plenty to see whilst out walking along the coast. At least Chania has lots of places to wander around on such days ! A massive thankyou to everyone at the hotel for looking after us. Looking forward to another visit hopefully next year!…
This hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the airport and is situated in a peaceful section of the harbour overlooking the old Venetian port. The location is great. There are a few shops nearby with the centre of the town less than a ten minute walk away in one direction with a small and fairly quiet cove/beach with some nice restaurants en route in the other. Walking around the winding streets was great fun and the selection of top quality restaurants nearby was very convenient. We were spoiled for choice. The hotel itself is modern, minimalist and well maintained. It actually looks quite new. The room was clean and the towels and linens fresh. The bathroom had the usual toiletries and good water pressure in the shower. There were tea and coffee making facilities which were replenished daily along with bottled water. The cleaning staff did a very good job each day. The beds were comfortable and the harbourside room was quiet at night so a good night's sleep was guaranteed. The free wi-fi was also good and I noticed that there was a strong 5G network in many areas. The breakfast selection is fabulous. There are four main breakfasts-European, Cretan, Greek and Vegetarian-each with a selection of foodstuffs. There were also individual items that could be added to the breakfast. It was a great culinary experience to start each day. The hotel was also very accomodating of any special dietary requirements. We had dinner once at the hotel which was great and the cocktails were the best I had on Crete. The front desk staff were so helpful. Our airport transfers were arranged as were the excursions that we went on. An earlier breakfast was arranged for us on the day that we had an early departure. They also arranged restaurant reservations for us as some could only be made by phone. Nothing was too much trouble. It was our first visit to Crete and when we return to Chania, I can't think of anywhere else I would rather stay.…
service was wonderful. Location is perfect .Rooms were clean. Generous buffet breakfast couldn't fault the hotel. We stayed for 6 nights with two teenagers. Parking is available but driving in the city centre can be challenging.
We stayed for four nights in June. An agent booked the room for us so we weren't expecting much. We arrived early and although we were able to check in we couldn't get into our room straight away but the lovely lady at reception named Agapi said she would hold our bags and we could sit outside at one of the tables and have a complimentary drink. I laughed and said we would be happy to pay. Later on the waiter put the bill down on the table and then came back a few minutes later and said this one is on the house and took the bill away. Our room turned out to be a first floor Superior sea view suite which had two balconies, a separate bedroom and a large lounge room. The whole suite was spotless and the bathroom was large. We had a view of the harbor to die for and couldn't have been happier sitting out there watching the sunset with a cold drink in the evenings. This was our last stop on a five week journey before heading back to Athens and home so it was great to have a little luxury. We ate a sunny breakfast outside in the morning which was very nice and also sat outside for a night cap on a couple of nights. The hotel is at the quieter eastern end of the harbor which is nice but you only have to walk for a minute or two to be in the thick of things. Every day we would come downstairs and be greeted by Agapi who was always willing to have a chat for a minute or two which made our stay a very enjoyable experience. We loved this hotel and would definitely stay again.…
It took me a long time to pick a hotel in Chania, and I'm the kind of person who second guesses every decision I make. But this was perfect! Don't hesitate to book this hotel. It was beautifully clean, and has every facility you could want. The bathrooms were gorgeous, the beds were comfortable. I paid a little more for the sea view, and that was an awesome decision. The view of the harbor is breathtaking, and the sunsets are out of this world. We enjoyed every breakfast we had during our trip, but the breakfasts at this hotel were spectacular. It was a full-service breakfast, with anything your heart desired, and my 22-year-old son never looked happier! The wait staff were honestly the nicest, most helpful we encountered anywhere. Obviously the setting was stunning too. Sitting on the terrace, looking at the harbor lighthouse really couldn't be any better. We were there in October, but clearly this is the quieter end of the strip. We found it peaceful but right in the heart of things, an easy walk to everything in town. The hotel staff went out of their way to help us with everything. They helped us rent a car, book, a trip, and managed to find us a room for an extra night which saved us a lot of hassle. They were just so helpful. If I were to take off half a star it would be because the room was tiny. It didn't matter to us at all, but if you need space, you might want a different room. On the last night we didn't have the sea view, which was fine, but my advice is to get a sea view! Stay here! …
What a wonderful hotel! We had a fantastic 3-day stay at Porto Veneziano. The hotel’s location is unsurpassed in Chania. The staff was first class and very accommodating. Breakfast was delightful (Zina was amazing and made breakfast that much more pleasant!).
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week and had a fantastic stay. We had a room on the side of hotel with a balcony which had a partial harbour view. This was perfect for us as it had the sun on the balcony most of the day/evening and it was quiet. The room was cleaned daily and fresh bottles of water were replaced in the fridge which is great in the warm weather. The only small negative with the room is the lack of strange pace if you are staying for a week or longer as there are no draws to put things in. The hotel have free bikes which can be booked at reception and we used these most days to cycle to the beaches. The location is excellent, close enough to walk to everything but far enough away to be in the quieter part of the harbour. The view is really lovely especially when having breakfast. We didn’t eat at the hotel for an evening meal as there was so much choice in the old town for restaurants however we couldn’t fault the breakfast and looked forward to it every morning. The staff are all very nice and helpful and we loved chatting to them. Every one of the staff is a credit to the hotel and because of this we wouldn’t want to single any out as they all did a great job. Few hints and tips: - book restaurants in advance. We spent an afternoon walking round doing this and it paid off. Pallas, Tostachi, Pulse, Tamam and Kalderimi are some of the best. - use the local bus station to get around to visit other places. Good clean buses and not expensive. We also used the sightseeing bus to see more of the island as it’s hip on hop off and ticket lasts 24hrs. - ask the hotel to arrange taxis to and from airport. They were very helpful and both our taxis were on time. It was 30€ each way. We rarely go anywhere twice however we would return to the hotel again as we had a perfect holiday.…
I stayed here for 2 nights after flying in to Chania. The hotel is wonderfully situated overlooking the old port which is picture perfect at sunset. It’s at the quieter end too which I liked and near the road so my taxi could take me close. (Some of the old town hotels a taxi can’t reach and I arrived late so didn’t want to negotiate small streets at midnight). Fabulous breakfasts served outside and the staff were attentive and happy to substitute items. This was my highlight of the stay. My room was great; clean, comfy bed, side view of the port and good shower pressure. The aircon wasn’t initially working but a quick call to reception and they immediately came and sorted it. And this was great too! Good selection of tv channels. Only slight negative - left luggage is behind the stairs and not in a locked room so didn’t feel that secure. Also on a side note - the hotel isn’t that near to the beach. The nearest one with sunbeds and facilities is a 20mins walk the other side of town. There is a small beach 5 mins to the right of the hotel but too small to put a towel down (lots of seaweed) but handy for a quick dip. So if this is a must then maybe not the hotel for you. However - I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The breakfast and lovely service still stays with me. Would have no hesitation to recommend.…
We stayed for two nights in a sea view room (number 105). Whilst not large the room way perfectly adequate and clean. The balcony had two chairs and a small table with great views and perfect for people watching. The breakfast had plenty of choice including eggs and bacon but don’t expect a “Full English”. We arrived at 9:00pm and there was someone waiting outside to make sure we could put the car in the car park which was full at the time. A nice touch which made our arrival stress free. The staff were all attentive and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Superb location on the harbour and yet away slightly from the crowds & with swimming nearby. Modern well equiped room with a beautiful view from the balcony. Very clean and comfortable with one of the best breakfasts I have known in any hotel - a superb choice of al a carte options served beautifully by the delightful Zina and her colleagues. We would definietly stay again and can thoroughly recommend.
