We are a family of three and we couldn't have chosen better for our stay in Chania, Crete. Spacious room with a modern bathroom, excellent matresses for both adults and kids. Our room had also a great view to the port. The fact that the hotel is at the Old Port makes it very accessible for families. The area where breakfast is served is like a small yard full of plants and it is so cute. Breakfast traditional and local with great tastes! Totally recommend it!
This hotel is beautiful and in the most perfect position on the waterfront. We were staying in Kolymbari for 2 weeks but thought we'd break it up with an overnight stay in Chania. I'm so glad we got to stop here, the building is stunning. Breakfast was great as was the host Eva. Couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend
Our stay at Alcanea was simply wonderful and made our trip memorable. Although a lot was due to the beautiful room with the sea view and large terrasse and the delicious breakfast, the highlight was definitely Eva, the hotel manager! It was like having your personal tourist agent. Without her, we would have never found those gem spots and great local restaurants. Having travelled in many places in the world, we never received such a service and attention! She is definitely a key asset to the hotel! I wish all hotels had a Eva! As to the breakfast, it was even better than the buffet breakfast we had in the 5 star hotel where we stayed previously in Elounda! The quality of the food and attention to details was fantastic. Also, the hotel is absolutely charming, extremely well located in the old historic center with a nice view on the port. And finally, the icing on the cake was the exquisite music choice. So many times hotels forget how important music can be to create an ultimate pleasurable experience. That was one of our key criticism in the 5 star hotel we stayed previously. We highly recommend this hotel! And of course Chania and its surroundings is absolutely amazing!…
We send 5 wonderful days at Alcanea hotel in Xania. The staff are just great always with a smile. Eva thank you very much for all your good advices. We will surely come-back. This was our best stay in Crete. I recommend this for everyone who wants to create wonderful memories of their stay in Crete
My fiance and I stayed at Alcanea for a few nights at the end of our Greece trip. After a very long day of travel, we didn't arrive to the hotel until 11:30pm at night. Parking was a nightmare as we came in August so it was high season, and the only lot is the public parking lot behind the old town. It fills up very early, with no one leaving, so we had a hard time finding parking and had to drive around in circles for about an hour waiting for a spot. The hotel is difficult to find, and we actually walked past it numerous times until we finally found it. But those are the only negatives! On to the positives... Check in was quick & easy and the gentleman who greeted us was very friendly and sympathetic to our crazy travel! The room itself was a bit on the smaller side, but the high ceilings make it feel open. I love the character of the hotel and the room, and it gave us a different vibe from our other stays in Greece which we loved. Our balcony overlooked the old port which was lovely to sit on at night and enjoy a glass of wine. The breakfast was DELICIOUS with a lot of options if you're a picky eater, but everything we had we were happy with every morning. I'll truly miss the traditional pies (and if it wasn't for Eva making sure we tried them, we probably wouldn't have, so THANK YOU :D). Check out was easy and simple, and they held our luggage while we walked around as we had a later flight. Eva was absolutely AMAZING. She made us feel so at home and went out of her way every morning to come talk to us, ask us about our plans for the day, and give us tips and pointers of places to go on the island. She even left us a bottle of wine for our last night, which was so sweet of her and we were able to enjoy it on our balcony the last night taking in the last of the views. She was honestly the highlight of her stay, and I'll never forget her!…
