I went to the spa on two different days, both for massages and the steam room / hammam. Both times the spa manager and masseuse were nice and helpful, and the massages were great (I would recommend! Feet, back and scalp). The hammam was a bit underwhelming at first because the facilities are quite small, same for the sauna - they're both 'just' a room. But they work great once the heat gets started, and we had them all to ourselves! There are showers and toilets available just next to it, so it makes the whole process very easy. Everything was clean and working well. I would recommend going to the spa in person to check out what is available and book something in advance - you get all the info and advice then! Also, note that the access to sauna/hammam/indoor pool is free for the days you have a massage or skin appointment.

We have been blown away by our week at this great hotel. We stayed in one of the front line rooms with its own terrace and small infinity pool. Many an hour spent lying on our sun lounger overlooking our pool straight into the sea. Staff here are so friendly and helpful in every department. Reception staff could not have been more welcoming when we arrived at 11pm - exhausted. Rooms are kept well cleaned and stocked. Lovely evenings spent in the bar/lounge area with the most obliging and attentive barman ever - seemingly with the memory of an elephant recalling names, drinks and hotel room numbers, a lovely man. Food was very good with such a choice at breakfast and evening meal, the dining room located with beautiful views of Aghios Nikolaos. Dining staff attentive and eager to please. Our only comment would be the lack of coffee after dinner was disappointing and in fact, highly unusual for such a hotel. Who doesn’t want to sit at the table and finish off a meal with a cup of coffee?! The hotel resort is like a village in its own right. There are over 180 types of accommodation spread over acres of land built into the hillside. Depending where on the site you are staying, you will be bound to come across steps to negotiate, don’t let that put you off, we are not as mobile as we used to be but experienced no issues. Facilities are plentiful, pool table, card room in main building with 4 swimming pools, tennis courts, giant chess, table tennis and an excellent gym within the grounds. Even just to walk around the upper areas of the site with the well tended gardens and cute little areas built into the hillside full of flowers and shrubs is relaxing enough. Opposite the hotel resort is a small shingle beach and to the right is a beach of golden sand with loungers and sunshades. The walk to Aghios Nikolaos was direct and took us about 20 minutes. The lake is beautiful and such a pleasure to sit at one of the bar/restaurants around the lake just watching the world go by. Although we set off fit the Wednesday market, it was very disappointing and definitely not worth the climb up the hill. A great fresh fruit and veg market for the locals, a couple of diy stalls and loads of car boot type tables full of piles of 1 euro items. We took a taxi to Elounda -16 euros from the square in town and caught a ferry from Elounda to Spinalonga for about 18 euros. We did not want the bbq and swim cruise and opted for just a ride over, one hour and half on island and return. Spinalonga definitely worth seeing and experiencing. Buses back to Aghios Nik still not quite on the regular side but one finally came and returned us for 2 euros each. All in all one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and very much a 4 star. Thank you Miramare 🌟

First, let me give you an introduction. The Cretan Massage is in the same style of a Deep Tissue Massage, meaning it's a strong massage. If you already know what it is you can have an idea otherwise, to give you an idea, I don't take these massages to relax but more to be fixed, it's not a pleasant time but the pay off is worth the pain, trust me. Knowing that, it's time to give a review based on my experience. The Cretan Massage is unique by the product they are using: oil mixed with raki (if I'm not mistaking). The technique is close to a Deep Tissue and will help you to get rid of the tension in your muscles. The masseuse, was amazing and checked all the time if the pressure on my muscles was okay. I really enjoyed the experience and realised how much I didn't treat my muscles properly for a while and how I needed that massage. Highly recommend!!! Ps: as they explained, don't go in the water for an hour after the massage, let it cool first.

Nice hotel with lovely staff. Shame about the quality and selection of food. Restaurant rules do not seem to apply. You could end up having your evening meal in a restaurant with people who looked like they had just stepped off the beach. Price to upgrade our all inclusive package so we could drink after 11pm was ridiculous.

We couldn’t fault this resort at all it exceeded all our expectations. We arrived after 10pm. A member of staff collected our cases and drove us to our room on a golf buggy as the hotel is set amongst the stunning hills of Agios Nikolaos so certain areas can be quite steep. We were then informed that the restaurant had prepared sandwiches and drinks for us which was so lovely and unexpected. We headed to the bar afterwards and sat on the balcony and took in the spectacular views. I don’t drink but there were lovely mocktails available which I enjoyed. The reception staff were so helpful and polite and assisted us with any queries we had and greeted us every day. It was the restaurant manager Costas who really made our stay. From the beginning to the end he was an absolute joy! Nothing was too much trouble and he made us laugh so much, a real credit to the hotel he gave us so many happy memories to take away. The other restaurant staff were just as helpful and friendly. I cannot speak highly enough of them. The food was delicious and very varied with a different theme each day a little sparse on the vegetarian choices but plenty of salads and different breads and cheeses compensated. The room was spacious and clean and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. We loved it so much that we are coming again in May as our belated honeymoon and we really can’t wait. Thank you Miramare.

The hotel is beautiful as is the setting. We found the staff wonderful. We arrived quite late in the evening and the restaurant had closed but they’d made us sandwiches and fruit which was so thoughtful and unexpected. They’d laid a table for us and were waiting! The reception staff were helpful and polite and assisted us with all the questions we had. The restaurant manager was absolutely wonderful and really made our stay. Nothing was too much trouble from any of the staff members there and we were greeted every morning and evening warmly. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of them they’re a credit to the hotel. The food was lovely with a huge variety on offer each day. A little limited for vegetarians but there were still plenty of options available. The room was clean and spacious with aircon and all the other facilities you’d expect. The room was cleaned every day. We are due to visit again in May for our belated honeymoon and I can’t wait. We’ve stayed in the Grand Wyndham before and whilst that too was lovely the hotel and its staff at the Miramare were far superior.

Lovely hotel with spectacular views. Location is a short walk to the main area. Hilly if you have walking difficulties but worth it for the views. Very clean and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy but basic room with a fantastic view from the balcony. Nice pools with plenty of space and no problem getting a sunbed at any of the pools. Water in the pool was freezing in June. Nice little beach just outside with a small selection of tavernas. We were half board and the quality of the food was very good although we did eat out a lot as there are some fabulous tavernas in the area. The service was excellent and the staff so lovely. Drinks were just OK, cocktails poor for the prices. We loved the hotel but we were disappointed with evening entertainment, one chap playing old fashioned music on a piano each night for a few hours. Very very quiet evenings and early nights at the hotel but only a short taxi ride into town for a more lively night out.

The Miramare Resort and Spa was first class from start to finish. We arrived quite late in the evening, but they had kept the restaurant open for us, with a good choice of hot food available. The staff at reception were very welcoming, I didn’t get their names, but one had long dark hair and wore glasses, and the other lady had curly hair, and had done a degree in Cardiff university. Our room was lovely with a great sea view, and overlooking the lower of the pools, it was easier to get out from there than it would have been if we’d been higher up in the resort, although there seemed to be buggies available. If you have mobility issues I’d check which rooms would suit you better, there is quite a steep walk down from the hotel, but we did discover a set of steps at the side which was easier going. The food at breakfast and dinner was good, with plenty of choice, as we stayed for a fortnight, and it was not repetitive. A special mention has to go to Elpida, who was so nice to us at breakfast and dinner, and went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our table. Also, I’d like to mention the bar manager Manolito, who again, looked after us very well , as we sat and had a drink most evening on the terrace bar, which has a fab view. The resort itself is lovely with many areas to discover, but it is a good twenty minute walk from the hotel, taxis apparently cost 7euros., so you have to bear this in mind. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We where two couples staying at Miramare. We booked at the same time and with the same price our rooms. We wished for rooms next to each other and they got that for us which made our stay even more pleasant. The rooms was a lot different, one a bit bigger (or the layout made it feel like it) with a big pool, the other pool was just a tiny square. But for us it didn’t matter, because we hung out at our friends place. We had with a view over the beach. The beach itself was lovely with a funny beach lady. The service was exellent. We booked with only breakfast included. It was okay. I would have liked to have more to choose from, not only ten different ways of egg etc. And the AC was non existent so we had a hard time enjoying breakfast. We just ate and left, it was terrible hot. So if you stay during summer time, get up a bit early while it’s still cool. Keep in mind it’s a big hotel so it is a lot of people during breakfast rush. I would recommend this hotel! It is a steep uphill climb if you walk back to the hotel from town, but when do you avoid them in Crete?!😉
