We are about to check out of the Phaedra Hotel, after a one-night stay. It certainly served it's purpose...cool (great air conditioning) and comfortable beds. A great location in the heart of Plaka...walk to everything...from shops and restaurants to the Acropolis entrance as well as the new Acropolis Museum. Small room (with 4 suitcases), tight bathroom, but the shower was...

After doing research we decided on hotel Phaedra because of where it is, in Plaka district. We couldn’t have picked a better location. It’s near to shops, cafes, sights, bus routes the lot. Small but clean room, the staff in the main were good, just one who was a bit grumpy but you always get that don’t you? No safe...

** I've rated it 'Average, but there are GOOD reasons to stay there. I've stayed at the HOTEL PHAEDRA 4 times, and there are a number of reasons why. It's NOT that it's high end, plush beds, flat screen tv, large bathrooms, jaw dropping views or quiet location. It's that 1) it's VERY affordable... 2) They have an elevator (quite...

I had a well-priced room (approx. 60 euros during May/ before high season) that was perfectly located in the Acropolis/ Plaka area. From the airport, I took the Metro train (10 euros) to Syntagma station and changed to the red line for 1 stop to the Acropolis station. You rise out of the ground right next to the Acropolis Museum...

Took subway to red line 1st stop which leaves you a 5 min walk to hotel. We did use google maps to find it as the location is right in the middle of all the great ruins. The hotel is simple but clean. Has balcony, great water pressure, AC, elevator, and very small old tv (we didn't use). It's a...

The hotel is in a great location. My room had it's own bathroom. Looked somewhat updated. Bed was hard, wifi worked well, no shower curtain on shower so when i took a shower water flooded the bathroom. Air conditioning worked well. Fine place for a budget traveler.

I booked our stay well in advance, nearly a year before our trip. We really didn't know what to expect since we've never been to Athens. The ladies at the office were lovely, helpful, and kind. They held our luggage for us at the front office because we were very early for the check in, that gave us the freedom...

We stayed here because it received good reviews (but not outstanding) in both Rick Steves Europe and TripAdvisor. Our room was adequate size, seemed clean and was comfortable. The room assignment was delivered as promised via email communication. Good value for money, we thought- We tend to be pretty easy-going people, and enjoyed talking with the individuals tending the 24/7...

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
