Excellent location! Just around the corner from Adrianou. It's clean and good. It's not fancy or luxury, but it's a great value for the price. Very nice and helpful staff. I'll definitely keep this place in mind on my next trip back to Athens.

Don't expect too much from this hotel, this is simply a cheap place to stay. The rooms (at least the one where we stayed) was quite worn and there was no sign of the renovation they mention on the website. Breakfast was the same every morning, a hard-boiled egg, a slice of cake, some slices of bread (cracknel), butter, marmalade,...

This hotel is right on the edge of the touristy Plaka. A quick walk to dining and 5-10 minutes to the Acropolis and it's amenities. The corner the hotel is on itself is not the nicest right now, but as soon as the corner is turned, you are back in beautiful strolling streets. We didn't have an views from our...

Hotel Nefeli is pretty much just below the Acropolis. It is in the Plaka area, which is the best area of Athens according to everyone we spoke with and it did seem that way. The room was simple, bed, small bathroom, tv & heat/air. The staff was friendly enough and the room was cleaned daily. We paid 50 euros and...

We stayed here for the location and price and were very happy with both. The rooms and breakfast are nothing to write home about, but the hotel is close to the metro, the pedestrian mall and the Acropolis. For a short stay I doubt you could do much better.

The location is excellent, but be advised - this is a very basic accommodation. If you don't mind hostels, this will be great. If you are accustomed to luxury accommodation, you won't be happy here. After spending the beginning of our Greece trip at the Plaka Hotel a few blocks away, my daughter and I spent a few weeks visiting...

My husband and I have stayed repeatedly in this small, simple and pleasant hotel. The management is very accomodating and helpful. There is easy access to Syntagma for early am departures to the airport. Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room rate. This is a solid choice for someone needing a central base to explore Athens from or merely a...

Stayed in Hotel Nefeli for 2 nights with husband and kid. It is located about 10 mins walking distance from Syntagma Square(which is the main area connecting all the sites). People at the reception were kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and air conditioned. Its a value for money budget hotel , not the posh kind. The locality is...

I can't imagine why you would want to stay in any other place during your stay in Athens. As a visitor in Athens you want to see all the historical sights, enjoy a great traditional meal, and have perfect peace and quiet. The management is extremely friendly and the room service is transparent and perfect. Finally the prices are incredibly...

Over forty years of staying at various places in Greater Athens, the Nefeli is, by far, the best buy. Couldn't be better located (a ten to fifteen minute walk to most of the important sites, from the Acropolis to Sindagma to Monastiraki to the New Acropolis Museum); the staff is helpful,. the heating and air conditioning work well and on...

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
