A cheap and cheerful hotel with few luxuries but perfect for a city break. The room was quite plain and small but en suite. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was superb - just a short walk from the Metro station and in a busy night spot (there was no noise or trouble though). The air conditioner... The hotel is centric but the owner was very unpolite, rude and racist with me since we made the check in. The room was extremely dark and humid, the shower splashed all over the tiny bathroom, The smell of the room after defecate was a big issue. The neighbourhood is very dangerous at night. Nothing did work during my stay,... More

Booked this based on the photos which looked ok, couldn't have been more wrong as this hovel bears absolutely no resemblance the pictures posted by booking.com and we moved out after one night. The area is awful, filthy and noisy, the hotel is dark and damp and the rooms bare and cold. It's no cheaper than most other places so... More

I'm really sorry to say this, but this hotel was a bit disappointing. The room was extremely small, very cold, and the bathroom was unacceptably small, you can see the picture I uploaded. So, the rooms are not as nice as they appear in the pictures they show here or on booking. The employees were not so kind, and the... More

Photos of that hotel are marvelous but reality is far avay from photos. The bathroom is made in toilet, just two pipes taken from from wash basin and shower handset on the wall. If you take a shower, water is everywhere sometimes even in the room. very close to the merto station, close to Akropol, close to the market, everywhere... More

This hotel is very simple but clean! The lady at the main desk was nice. Good location and a very fair price. I read bad comments about the bathroom because of the type of shower. To me it was not a problem.... everything was very clean!!! you just have to be a little more carefull because there are no curtains....... More

It has a bed, a bathroom and a couple of people that try to be helpful. It is very centrally located and that's about it. The place might have seen better days and it us clearly coasting on its location and low rate. If you have a better luck you can find a better place for that price, but if... More

Rates are very cheap and the location is extremely convenient, as it is in close proximity to many major tourist attractions. Though the rooms are very small, they are clean and have the basic amenities. This small hotel was great value for money and the staff were extremely friendly as well.

That was our last hotel in Greece and, maybe, we were spoiled with other hotels in that wonderful country. That hotel showed us bad apple. High walk up with no elevator. The room was very small, no shower curtains and no even shower place in the bathroom. Mold on the wall in the bathroom and even on the wall in... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
