We had a great stay at this hostel. Everything is so tiny (except for the rooms which are spacious) that you really get to talk to everyone who stays here at the same time. Good value for the money. As others have mentioned the kitchen is tiny, but still it’s well equipped and also there is tea/coffee and lots of spices. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
We paid $26 Euro for this hostel, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for an experience. We expected a little more for the double private room than we received... We ended up in a room, private at least, that had three twins beds. The beds had one sheet, and a stained/dirty fleece blanket, that we chose not to use. We instead opted for another sheet upon request. The bathroom we were allowed to use had a sprayer for a shower (not uncommon in Greece) but must be used over the toilet to be near a drain. Keep in mind, any towels need to be paid for, including hand towels. Our room was right inside the entry door, so all other entrants woke us up, and we could hear every discussion of those on the other sides of each wall. We chose this due to an early train just minutes on foot from the hostel. …
The hostel is clear, mostly silent and well located. The staff was very Kindl, helpfull and everything was good. Just no windows and reception next to the rooms but it was silent do good for sleep. T V on our room.
We stayed about a week in the spring. Location and price was ok and the owner was friendly and tried to keep the hostel clean every day. We had a room with balcony and it looked ok. First the room was very cold, but luckily there was a heater that we got on. Bathroom was quite dreary and small and there was no shower curtain. The kitchen seemed like you may not want to cook there, but fridge was ok. I slept first few nights on an old, dirty mattress and got bitten by bed bug(s). I found blood traces and one bed bug from my bed in the morning. We informed the staff and got the old bed out of our room, so we decided to stay. We didin't no longer find bed bugs and other mattresses were new and clean. But not sure if all the bedclothes were clean. There was black spots and little holes on the plankets. There also came a lot of tiny ants on the floor if you drop any food crumbs. Annoying to say, but there was no good night sleep for the bed bugs, tough beds and pillows, and because the area was really loud by traffic.…
I stayed here with my boyfriend for what should have been 2 nights however we ended up leaving after 1 night. We had the room that was right off reception, this didn’t feel safe as we had to leave our key on display in reception when we went out. We come back at night to find the front door to our room wide open and no body at reception, anyone could have gotten into our room. The shower was next to the toilet and didn’t drain away very well so the bathroom and toilet was constantly wet. One toilet doesn’t have a sink anywhere near it so if you are going to stay here take hand sanitiser. The sheets and the floors were dirty. The staff were friendly though and it is in a good location however the security and cleanliness of this hostel lets it down.
The employees paid really attention at you, they are so lovely! The place is quiet and clean (2 or 3 times a day!) There is a wonderful rooftop You have the AC/fans and the bed are comfortable Near the metro station I highly recommend it! For sure I'll stay there for my next trip in Greece
Good location, prices, always clean and open, and very good the attention of the employees, attentive and always ready to help!! and near the metro station, I highly recommend it... If I back to Athens I will back there
Pros: Easily accessible by metro, or even by foot (25 mins from the centre). Air-conditioned (as of 10/11pm). Affordable. Friendly, helpful staff. Cons: Very basic, with cockroaches in the bathroom on two seperate ocassions (the hostel staff came to spray though). Not very secure (there is one key to the room, which is only locked during the day and luggage is "stored" in the open kitchen). It is also surrounded by rather shady, dirty neighbourhoods, should you decide to walk there.
The San Remo Hostel is located very close to the main Athens Train Station and Metro Station and that is its only USP. We booked for one private room for 02 of us and one bed in the mixed dorm. The ground floor private room had a queen size bed and a single bed, but the queen bed was broken in the centre and one could not comfortably sleep on it. It had an attached washroom which was clean but too cramped up with a peculiar sliding door that could not even be bolted. The room had no windows and it could be problematic for someone with even a bit of claustrophobia. The AC in the room could be used only after requesting the staff more than just once. The rules to submit the key at the reception even for a private room was also questionable from the security aspect. Moving on to the mixed dorm on the first floor. It had 04 single beds cramped in one room with an attached common balcony with the neighbouring private room. This room was airy and comfortable, though the lack of any lockers or even a side table was bit of a hassle. One had to just push his/her luggage under the bed. The one washroom shared by all occupants on the first level was also small and cramped which you would mostly find occupied or wet. The hostel also has a terrace with a few tables and chairs and that's a nice add-on. The kitchen was also clean and staff was friendly. In totality, a centrally located place to stay with average facilities.…
San Remo is a small and cozy hostel. It's located very close to the train station and a metro stop which makes it both convenient to get to from the train station and to get into the heart of Athens via the metro. All the staff I came across were very friendly and went out of their way to help my brother and I with whatever we wanted. The rooms were a reasonable size, looked very clean and had air conditioning. I would say this hostel is very good value for money and I would definitely stay here again.
