Phidias hotel is located in the heart of old Athens. A civilization of thousands of years is around you and minutes away is the monument of Acropolis. Ideally situated in the centre of the archaeological sites, the Phidias Hotel is 200 metres from the Acropolis, 100 metres from the Ancient Market, and 150 metres from Keramikos. With the metro station just 100 metres away, you will have little trouble travelling across the city.
The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Good breakfast, very centrally located near the acropolis, shopping etc. Close to the Thissio metro so an easy commute from the airport (9 euro at this writing) and them a short walk up to the hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and had a great time.

What a beautiful little hotel! All the staff are so helpful and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Probably 2star because there is no pool but if that doesn't bother you then you can't go wrong. Good location ,nice breakfast, excellent value. Would definitely recommend.

We booked 2 rooms in this hotel for a small get away to take in some Greek history and culture. It’s a small hotel in a quiet pedestrian precinct with amazing views of the Acropolis. It’s not a fancy 5 star hotel but it’s clean and comfy, great value and with some very helpful staff. Welcoming, friendly and we couldn’t ask for more. We love it and will be back. Nothing seems too much work d you ask and for only 2 Euros you can get a coffee. Highly recommend if you like a friendly and comfy hotel based in a lovely area and great situ for sure seeing and eating.

Avoid the hotel and the group if possible. We were told last minute (on the day we were to arrive to the hotel) that they will put us up in an equivalent hotel. I told them I was with family, we are traveling all day and not to book us into some horrible place. A few minutes before the flight, and after weeks of planning to get to Athens, I get an email that they moved us for the first night to another hotel, they didn't tell us it was was in their hotel group. The hotel (golden city) we were put up in was in an area where people were cooking drugs in the open, in hotel room there were brown stains on the bathroom floor and the room wasn't sound proof and they had a party going it seemed. The following morning we took the taxi as per the email instructions (it was paid for by the hotel group) to phidias to find out our room wasn't ready and had been having technical difficulties for days and wasn't ready the previous night and they weren't sure what room to put us in. As we had booked and paid in advance we were stuck and made to feel like they were doing us a favour. We finally got a hotel room which is so small we can't move after putting our bags down. We can't open the cupboard that's in the room as theirs not enough space. When I went down to speak to reception to ask for a bigger room (I said I can upgrade (pay a little more) I was accused of having too much luggage. I asked for a refund for remaining nights as they haven't got the facilities for two adults and a child to stay here and was told no. We only have two duffle bags one 70L another 60L. We are stuck in this room not able to move without tripping up over things. The room is a hs&e incident waiting to happen with no room to walk once you bring your bags in and electric cables running across the bed, open electric socks next to the pillows.…

DO NOT VISIT!! This hotel gave both my girlfriend and I black mold poisoning. We tried to receive compensation and they neglected us. They told us that no one has ever complained of black mold which is impossible since it seemed as though it had been growing for months. The room is small, decrepit, smells, and literally got us sick. Photos of the black mold are attached. I would highly recommend to avoid this establishment all together, there are much better options at the price point that won’t get you ill. My girlfriend and I coughed, sneezed, and our throat and lungs her for our entire stay in Greece. Avoid this place like the plague.

If you go here, upgrade to better room. We had thelower floor room (no windows). It needed a little work (hardwood flooring loose/missing). It was more like a hostel room. But...it was neat, clean and comfortable. This place is right on the pedestrian walking path within walking distance of the Accropolis. The location can't be beat. The breakfast was quite good with alot of variety. The cafe was excellent. The front desk girl was friendly. Overall a good experience.

We had booked a basement room and when we arrived we were upgraded to a lovely room with a balcony that overlooked the pebble road it was fantastic. The second day we went to the basement room which was basic and fine for the money you paid. The breakfast was very basic,I recommend you change it.It was not the cleanest dining experience. The location is great if you want to stay awake till early morning due to the business of the restaurants and night life. It was ok overall. Thank you Sam and Charls South Africa and Australia

Excellent location and good prize but our bathroom was rather damp (we visited in November). No electrical ventilation to available in the bathroom. The choice of breakfast is not that wide but you won't leave the place with an empty stomach. The staff are helpful.

Stay well clear of this hotel, the staff are rude and the rooms are disgusting. The room smelled like cigarette smoke, the shower was disgusting, the toilet had cigarette ashes, the bed sheets were stained, the towels were stained, the floor felt greasy, the mirror was dirty and the overall hotel was very dirty.

It's hard to say something good about this hotel. €69 per day for the room in quite bad condition it's misunderstanding. Furniture worn out, the bed linen has holes, broken and dirty shower, mold on the shower wall, broken ceramic sink. Breakfast included. Well, I can't say bad word about the food. Normal, tasty breakfast, unless hot meals like scrambled eggs and sausages were cold. Good localisation, near to coffees, restaurants, small shops with souvenirs. We have been sleeping even in worse places but in this case value for money I can't rate this place higher. We are thinking to visit Athens again but we will choose different hotel.
