I stayed with my family in this hotel for 4 nights! We were impressed with the entire staff. Right at check-in they gave us 2 maps of Athens and told us where to go and how to get there. It was incredible! The rooms are also super super clean and the view - omg, we had a balcony with perfect... More

This is not a luxury hotel but a luxurious pied d'archaeologie. The rooms, though small, are clean and chic with marvelous views of the acropolis. The food is delightful with fresh squeezed orange juice, espresso, and baklava available for breakfast. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The area has great restaurants and a carnival street atmosphere without the creepiness. Located... More

Lovely hotel in a perfect location on the quieter part of the pedestrian street with lots of restaurants and cafes. So you can expect to hear a bit of a chatter through the windows at day time and in the evening but nothing too loud was going on even on the weekend night. Just a short walk away from all... More

We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, their location, and the bountious breakfast. We would highly recommend this hotel! We had a view of the Acropolis and we were next to the Agora and the Temple of Hephaestus. Good meals were nearby too.

The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating; they helped us several times with recommendations around town and with transportation. We really enjoyed the fresh breakfast buffet and coffee. Very convenient location, just a 10-15 minute walk to the Acropolis, with nice views. The downside was that our rooms were not renovated; the carpet and bed coverings were very old and... More

Stayed 2 nights in room on lower floor without windows. Room was clean, but very small, adequate for only 1 person. Was somewhat noisy at night with staff moving around and other guests using lower level restrooms. Location to street market and sights was very convenient with great views from the outside, esp. at night.

Chose the place on location and price but was pleasantly surprised. Our room on the second floor was nicely renovated, the staff and coffee shop delightful but it's the location, opposite a park on a pedestrian mall and within walking distance of the Acropolis that make this place stand out value. Have read some poor reviews of the place but... More

Easy walk along pedestrian walkway to Thissio Metro, right near street market (but close the door and window and it is silent and restful), good breakfast, pleasant staff, clean and modern room and bathroom: very comfortable and I do recommend!!! I am not giving an excellent rating because the room smelled of smoke when I arrived, but after I mentioned... More

Stayed for 3 nights in late August. Hotel staff were nice, location was excellent. Room was a tad small, bathroom pretty clean, bed was good. It is right on a busy street, so it is fairly noisy as entertainment goes to the early hours of the morning. But for the spot it's in you have to expect that. Breakfast was... More

Stayed here 3 nights and found it to be a good choice for Athens. It's within easy walking distance to all the biggies (acropolis, etc.), is on a pedestrian walkway, and is updated and clean. Reception was always helpful when we had questions and while the rooms weren't gigantic, they were of comfortable size. Our street facing room had a... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
