I don't typically rate a 1 star, but this place was awful. I don't even know where to start.. 1. wifi didnt work - the entire stay. Other people said they had been there a week and no wifi. I was told it was my device (we were travelling with an iPhone 5, iPhone 6, LG G4 android phone and...

This hotel is all about location. It is a 10 minute walk from the Partheon, right in the heart of the Plaka. The room was small, smelled a bit off, the shower was small but honestly no one should be hanging out in their room whilst in Athens. It was a 5 min walk to the bus stop for the...

Stayed there for 8 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the Hotel is amazing. Just walk outside, and you are in the heart of Athens, in the old Plaka district. The room was ok. Nice view over to Acropolis and good-sized room. However, the beds are hard and it can get very noisy at times because...

We stayed three nights at the Athos upon our first arrival in Athens. The three best qualities of this hotel are the location, the friendly staff, and the view of the Acropolis from the rooftop. We stayed in room 601 at the top. Very small, but clean and comfortable for the most part. The breakfast could certainly be improved and...

This hotel is in a wonderful location in Athens for both nightlife and historical sites. The hotel is clean, but the rooms are tiny. We had a view of the Parthenon, which was lovely, especially at night, but paid a premium for it. The wifi was incredibly unreliable. Being the only way that we can keep in touch with our...

We picked this hotel b/c of location and wifi and a/c. Wifi is a big deal when traveling and it was only functioning the first night. The next 3 nights, I had to go down and ask about it but it never worked consistently and would get attitude by the desk person b/c I wanted something we were promised. It...

This hotel is a great location if you want to explore Athens. A 5 minute walk from the vibrant Syntagma Square, where you are able to catch the X95 straight to the airport, or there is the metro. The hotel is clean and the rooms are basic but the staff are very friendly. One evening the lady on reception helped...

Close to everything, clean and wonderfully helpful staff on reception (excellent English). Breakfast is good - it was included in our room rate, plenty of choices. Room 202 is comfortable and quiet, as it overlooks an internal courtyard (no view). There is a great view from the roof top terrace of the Acropolis (you can take your own drinks up...

We had a room on the top floor. The room was very small and basic. The rooms however were clean. The views of the Acropolis on the rooftop terrace (next to our room) were lovely. Staff were friendly. However, the internet rarely worked and the breakfast is not worth having (we paid for breakfast for two mornings but decided not...

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
