We stayed here for 2 nights before & after our cruise. Hotel was clean & maid service everyday. Staff friendly & helpful. Very rundown area but felt safe in the hotel. Theres plenty to do in the area @ lots of places to eat & drink. close to the metro station . WARNING if using the metro dont let your... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night while we were in Athens. The hotel is very easy to find a just a block and a half from the train station. We took the train from the airport using the instructions on the Hotel's website and it was very easy. The train is right outside of the airport terminal. It... More

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for one night at the start of our Greek trip. The hotel, while well located, as it is close to the historical centre (10-15 minutes' walk), doesn't look much from the outside at first as it is in the Omonia area, which is a bit run down. Even though it might seem... More

The Polis Grand hotel is a four-star business hotel at three-star tourist prices. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable, highly professional, and completely fluent in English. My room was one of the few I've ever had that actually had a free electrical outlet at the desk (no need to unplug the TV). And at breakfast they actually had oranges and a... More

Polis grand is a good value for money. Staff is extremely helpful and genuinely happy to help. Breakfast is outstanding both quality and quantity. That said, hotel is not truly a Acropolis view hotel. You may get partial view from few rooms. Hotel is good 30 minutes walk from Acropolis.

Positive- Hotel is good and location is closer to train station.Breakfast was very good. Rooftop bar has execelleny views. Negative-Surrounding area seems unsafe. Our room bedsheet had blood marks. You can hear Cleaners having argument with each other ( I was pissed off as I was trying to sleep in the afternoon).

Epic view from the roof bar, very friendly staff, clean and modern room. Walking distance to Plaka, Gazi, Syntagma square and all of the archaeological sites. The neighborhood was a little run down but I suppose that's what made the rates so reasonable.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Pros- near Omonia metro station which is literally 1 stop away from city centre, neat and clean rooms, very good price for the location and helpful staff, they pack breakfast for you if you are leaving early in the morning. Cons- very small rooms, breakfast was average, have to use dark back alley... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
