We stayed at the Central Athens Hotel for one night after the islands and before our flight back to Australia. The hotel was clean, well situated and fine for a short stay. Staff were friendly and were happy to store our luggage and arrange a taxi to the airport. The lift is a pain - only fits 2 people and... More

Though I had read reviews and seen photograph they did not do the view justice. It's beautiful. WE STAYED AT THE HOTEL DURING AN OVERNIGHT IN Athens on a med cruise. It saved us going back to Port. It was perfect.easy to get to acropolis and other sights. Great shopping at the end of the road. Loads of great restraunts... More

The hotel was nice and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. My main complaint with the place is that the beds were super hard and very uncomfortable. Luckily we were jet lagged and were able to sleep due to extreme tiredness. The room and bathroom are pretty small, but the view of the Acropolis from the room is pretty... More

I was thrilled with the Central Hotel. We had a very spacious, clean, attractive room. The price was great. The breakfast was included and had everything you could want- eggs, sausages, fruit, yogurt, cappuccino, a variety of breads and pastries, etc. The street is a little shabby (as much of Athens is), but the location was great- right in the... We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a Europe Trip. It was our first time to Europe and we were on our honeymoon. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We did not have a view of the acropolis from our room, but only one level away on the roof to the bar was a... More

We were very pleased with our 3 day stay at Central Hotel in Athens. Nice, clean rooms, a bit small compared to American standard but no complaints there. We had an additional room for the kids with no view, they spent time in our room. We had a higher level room with a side view of the Acropolis. View was... More

My husband and I stayed here ~2 weeks ago. The room was very clean, had a spectacular view of the Acropolis, was within walking distance to the Acropolis, to the busy street in Plaka, the central Market (where fish and meat are sold), had a terrific rooftop terrace with very affordable drinks (5 euros for a class of wine) and... We stayed twice at this hotel, and enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect, close to the Plaka and the Syntagma Square, where you can catch the train to the airport. The rooms are quite small, but very clean - we had a great view of the Acropolis on our second stay . The breakfast was plentiful, one of the... More

The hotel is down a side street about 2 minutes walk from the main square where the Hop-on Hop-off buses go from. You are within walking distance of the markets, the restaurants in the Plaka and Monastiraki and you can walk to many of the main sites. Taxis can get down the street but bigger vehicles can't. The rooms are... More

We had a quick 2 night visit to Athens and stayed at the Central Hotel... The location is great and the rooms are clean. The rooms are small, but it wasn't a big deal we weren't in the room that much. The rooftop bar is great with probably one of the best rooftop views of the Acropolis...overall a great choice... Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
