Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

I stayed last February in an Executive Suite. The Suite was very spacious, with a separate bedroom and stunning views of the Acropolis and Hadrian Arch from our balcony. The housekeeping staff did a great job, kept the place spotless. The reception was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect in the middle of the Historical Centre, in the Plaka area. This is the perfect area to stay, as it mainly has pedestrian roads. So we could visit all the Greek classical treasures on foot. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars around to enjoy great food and relax. You do not feel at all being actually in a big city when staying in Plaka. Would definitely recommend this hotel in Plaka.

Hotel's Favorite
When we left, my 7 year-old insisted on leaving a note on her and her sisters beds, for the staff to see it:”I ❤️Ava Hotel”. That summarizes my review. We were always met with a warm smile and very friendly, helpful personnel. Again, even my 10 and 7 year old daughters reflected often in how kind the staff were. We stayed for 1 week and loved our comfortable room with a great view over Acropolis to one side and Hadrian Arch and the Temple of Zeus to the other side. It was a great center point to explore Athens, comfortable, spacious rooms and quiet as it is in a small side street. Breakfast was very decent, with a variety of international and local options. The 4 of us stayed in a suite and it was comfortable, clean and spacious. We booked initially for 3 nights but decided to stay in the same hotel for the rest of the week! The best was definitely the charm of a small hotel with a perfect location and great staff both in the front desk and at breakfast. Very helpful, friendly, warm and helpful. The perfect place to explore Athens and feel at home.

AVA Hotel Athens is a place to recommend. From our balcony we had great view up to Acropolis. It is located close to the Metro so you can get to the airport and everywhere else in town really quickly. The hotel staff is really service minded and nice. The rooms are big and beautiful. Loved it!

The AVA is located in the heart of the old city. It’s a very safe area of town and we walked everywhere. Great place to stay for our first Greece trip. Breakfast delivered to room every morning. Rooms are very spacious and there are great balconies with a great view of the Acropolis. Airport transfer took about an hour.
