My first return to Athens since 1997 and my husbands first visit. The hotel was excellent. Quiet despite being on a busy road. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant one night - the menu was limited but the food was good. Prices what you would expect in a city... More

Stayed here in March 2015, the hotel is quite central, about a 15-20 min walk from Syntagma square and the Placa. We had a suite which was very nice but not large for a suite, the city views are just buildings across the road (Room 807) so not magnificent but it was comfortable and well decorated. A couple of slight... More

I have just spent 3 nights at the Hotel Melia in Athens with a friend from Canada and cannot say enough about how amazing the staff were, especially on the front desk. Any issues or questions that we had were answered/dealt with immediately. They recommended some fantastic local restaurants and nothing was too much trouble for them. Other points -... More

My friend and I booked a spur of the moment five night trip to Athens. We chose the Melia hotel because it appeared to be quite central and looked good value for money, it was also the first hotel suggested by the travel company. On reading the reviews before we left I was concerned about the location, with a few... More

Very good hotel in the heart of Athens, with big and comfortable rooms and good service. Is a hotel that worths to stay and is the best money can buy as you pay 3 stars price and you get 5 stars services. The only one you can complain about is the slow WiFi

We stayed for 4 nights in early March and were absolutely delighted with the Melia. It's close enough to the centre to be able to walk to the main attractions and there are plenty of good restaurants within a 15 min walk. It's 5 mins from the National Archeological Museum which was ideal. The staff were very friendly and could... More

The hotel is located in Omonia within walking distance to Syntagma, shops and major attractions. The area is not the best in Athens but the quality of the hotel more than makes up for it. Staying in Exarchia

Neighborhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
