Economy Hotel is a good choice for a 2 stars hotel in the center of town. The mattress was a bit hard and the restroom tiny, but we could manage that. Don't expect luxury here, but the room itself was large enough and very clean, with a tiny balcony. Wifi was strong. Breakfast (buffet style) was included with a fair... More

Perfect location - metro hub, shops, cafes, restaurants, sights, post office...everything in walking distance. Amazing people at reception - they all should work as city guides and I would join them anytime. Maps, advises, rcommendations, you get whole package of insider tips 24 hours. Rooms - clean and comfortable, terrace with nice view on rooftop. Breakfast basic and tasty. Will... More

Good choice for a budget hotel in Athens. It's a 5-10 min walk from a tube/subway/metro station and from the popular Monastiraki square. The hotel itself is quite dated but at least it's clean and the staff is good. The breakfast is basic but you''ll find the necessary fruits, jam, butter, bread and toasties, cakes, boiled eggs, juice and coffee.... More

Just a short slightly uphill walk from the Monastariki metro down a somewhat scruffy and bustling main thoroughfare (Athinas) .The hotel is tucked away from the chaos down a side street and noise wasn't really a problem at night as I kept the balcony doors closed and the air con on. The location allows easy access to the heart of... More

Very friendly and helpful staff; nice and clean rooms with small balcony (no real view but great to have a balcony!), large enough rooms, nice breakfast. I can imagine that some people may find the neighborhood a bit daunting in the evening. During day very lively and great to visit the meat market & other food markets; during the evening... More

After missing our flight due to weather, Economy Hotel was the perfect place to stay with their 24 reception and friendly staff. They arranged a taxi for us both ways due to public transportation on strike. You drop off your key card on your way in and out so you never have to worry about losing it. Breakfast was good... Me and my partner stayed here for 4 nights, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel was very clean, the room was quite big with a balcony, the breakfast was nice, and best of all the staff were lovely and so helpful, as we arrived they had a map ready to show us how... Great location in central Athens and close to everything. The hotel per sé is a no frills place. To be honest there is nothing to write about this place other than the great staff. They are very informative, professional, multilingual and very attentive folks. The whole place is dated, from the beds to the dining room. The bathroom is from... More

This hotel located at central Athens. Only 10 minute walking distance to tourist area like Acropolis, Plaka, Monasteraki, Central market. Not far from monasteraki subway station. As budget hotel, this hotel provide good service. Appriciate to staff who I always take action when i need help like find taxi. Breakfast quite simple, bread , egg and fruits.

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
