Thought the hostel for the most part was great. I stayed for 4 nights in January 2016 and even though it was the off-season as it was winter there were still heaps of people staying there. I got a dorm room for 10 euro a night which I thought was awesome. 24 hour reception and the hostel has an excellent... More

I booked the wrong day and didn't realize it until I got there. The guy at the front desk was nice enough to change my reservation to that day. I was there for a long layover and just wanted somewhere to sleep. He saved my night. They have wifi, the bathrooms are good as well. 24 hour front desk service.... More

Actually its very easy to find this hostel but i took the wrong way so its kind a hard at first but after i arrived and i realize the location is great you can walk to the acropolis (about 5-10 minutes depends on how fast you walk - well i'm a slow walker so give or take 10 minutes) the... More

Hostel is old and little dirty, shared bathroom looks ugly. Walls are thin, so ear plugs are recommended. Beds squeak. Staff is friendly and available 24/7, I haven't any problem with very early check out. Wifi works fine.

I stayed in this hostel with two friends, and it was great for our first time backpacking in Athens. Dioskorous is located in a very central part of town, with the Temple of Zeus across the street, and the Acropolis is not far away either, we could see it from our window. There is lots of shopping, restaurants, and public... More

If I ever have the good fortune to return to Athens, I will not stay anywhere else but Dioskouros. Yes it's older and could possibly have some updating or repairs, however it is clean, bathrooms are cleaned night and day, and the staff are simply the best! Friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and the French toast produced... More

Well the staff at Dioskouros was very helpful and friendly. They gave us a few good advices for places to check out while in Athens. So for that, I'll give them a 5 star. However, I was staying in room 12 and got bed bugs. It was horrible. My arms were devoured. And I think I carried a few of... More

Perfect Plaka location for solo or young travellers . A short term only one star hotel/hostel with a dorm. Shared facilities only. Clean but very very basic! Comfy bed however. Room '28 is blue and white. Nice Med blue shutters like in the Cyclades! Second floor. Opposite facilities. Rooms come (thank God) with a basin. Air conditioning works in some... More

Very happy with what you pay for. Good room, door locks, lockers provided downstairs, lovely people work there, 24 hour door, fantastic location for Acropolis and great restaurants. Quiet at night and this is enforced by the people which work there which is great.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
