We stayed here for one night in Sept 2015 before we headed off to the islands. The location to Acropolis was perfect (literally around the corner)and seemed like a safe neighbourhood. Lots of shops and restaurant options within a minute walk. The roof top patio was beautiful and the girl that worked up there was very nice. Unfortunately the room... More

A small and average hotel by room quality, the Hotel Byron highlights are the great views while eating breakfast and the easy access to all of the main sites in ancient Athens. You can walk almost everywhere with limited time which can often be distracted by ducking into a wide variety of shops. If you are more interested in hotel... More

Stopped here for a lunch whilst doing the sights of Athens. Excellent 'Beer Platter' the equivalent of the ploughman's lunch for about 20 euros. Excellent views of the roof tops of Athens and the Acropolis. Beer was cold which was a necessity, staff were very attentive the roof garden area was well maintained.

The location isn't too bad with all the major attractions within walking distance. Surrounded by restaurants for a bite to eat and near enough to a main road to get a cab. The staff were friendly and we had a few conversations, unfortunately the triple room we had was to small for three people. The bathroom door didn't lock and... More

In total, we stayed here 5 nights...a quaint and smaller hotel, located in the Plaka section of Athens. The perfect location...with a million dollar view of the Acropolis. Rooms are very comfortable...bathrooms small, but clean and efficient. Beds and pillows are comfy. The air conditioning works beautifully and we were grateful as temperatures were over 100 degrees on several days.... More

Hotel has a perfect location - just 50m from entrance to Acropolis and just "meters"from many bars, restaurants and shops. I must say thank you to staff, especially Lady in the breakfast bar who made a Birthday gift surprise to us :)))) The only 2 disadvantages - especially when u stay with kid are noisy toilets and very noisy beds... I have lived in Greece for a year and traveled extensively throughout the country so I am very much aware of typical Greek accommodations. I booked through booking. A genius perk of booking this hotel is a welcome drink, which did not happen. Not a big deal but we were barely greeted upon our arrival. The location of the hotel... More

The Byron is centrally located on Plaka. Good accomodations at the right price. Excellent terrace for night view of the Acropolis sharing drinks with friends. Clean rooms and friendly advice by the staff on attractions. Want a good return on your money? Stay at the Byron.

The Byron Hotel is a simple hotel in an excellent situation looking up at the Acropolis. The rooms are unsophisticated but clean and comfortable; there is a delightful roof garden with amazing views where one can get drinks and where breakfast is served, The staff are very friendly and helpful and I felt very fortunate that I had had this... This simple family run hotel is on Vyronos, just round the corner from the Acropolis Museum. It is within easy walking distance of all the best sights of central Athens. The view of the Acropolis rom the bar on the roof is impressive. Take a room with a balcony at the front of the hotel if you can. They are... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
