Stayed here for 4 nights for a city break with my 17 year old son. It's in a great location near Syntagma Square and was easy to find once we jumped off the metro. Spent our first afternoon getting to know the area and enjoyed our first experience of the hotel. Day two we planned to visit the Acropolis and... More

We stayed in the Astor Hotel Athens for three nights. It is clean, quiet and conveniently located 2 blocks from the Syntagma Square Metro Station. The view of the Acropolis from the breakfast room is spectacular. The staff was extremely helpful. They directed us to one of the few pharmacies open on Sunday and recommended a couple of very nice... More

This hotel is centrally located and is reasonably priced. Also, the breakfast area on the rooftop offers a great view of Acropolis. However, the rooms and reception area require extensive renovation. Cleanliness is average. The wifi is bad. Breakfast is acceptable but the juice quality is cheap.

This hotel is very central to most things people want to do in Athens. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. All of the sites listed in the prior paragraph, many many souvenir shops, great eating areas and normal shopping stores all within walking distance! The Astor Hotel also had great breakfast options! The best part of breakfast... More

The hotel smelt bad. Dirty. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable we couldn't believe it. I needed to get a massage after staying there for three nights I was so stiff. The sheets, pillows, towels, all smelt bad and were always damp even with the air on. I would not recommend it. The location was the only good part... More

The location is excellent - you can walk to most of Athens famous landmarks including the Acropolis, shopping streets are nearby as are dozens of restaurants and cafeterias with different cuisines and price ranges. It's possible to get a room with a great view of the Acropolis so you can relax on a balcony admiring the symbol of Athens. Staff... More

This hotel has a wonderful location not far from Syntagma Square with plenty of cafes, restaurants close by. Check in was very easy and bags were brought up to our rooms. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed but a little worn down. We went up for drinks after dinner and the view of the Acropolis was amazing. Also... More

The hotel has a good ubication near Syntagma square and in the heart of Atens. The rooms are old but clean. The restaurant has nice views to the acropolis. The hotel's staff were nice and kind, they helped us with good recomendations and indications of the city. The breakfast was correct,in my opinion it need more variety.

Lobby area and the rooftop breakfast areas are in decent condition, but the rooms are too old. Ripped, stained carpets and moldy bathrooms. There are plenty other hotels in the neighborhood, try checking it out. Maybe for the price this is what you may get in the Plaka neighborhood.

Decent hotel with a good location. It is very close to the metro from the airport and close to the one for Piraeus. Nice staff very polite and helpful. Rooms a little bit dated the wifi very poor and in my room no AC. It would have been 4 stars if not for the last two.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
