Perfect location, walk from metro, great on site restaurant, super helpful staff, breakfast included and it was excellent and a beautiful location. Room had wood floors and was quiet. We even had an early departure and they brought us a plate late the night before as we would miss the start of breakfast. Neighborhood felt safe and short walk to... More

My friends and I stayed here for three nights while in Athens. The rooms were comfortable with a small balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the roof bar/restaurant has a nice view of the Acropolis as well as excellent food. It is in a great location, just around the corner from the Acropolis Museum, and within walking... More

Second time we have stayed here in a week. An older style hotel very near to the Plaka. Easy walk to the Acropolis Mueseum and the Acropolis itself. Very clean, tidy and comfortable. The staff are great and the view of the Acropolis, all lit up at night, from their rooftop restaurant is incredible.

Stayed here at the beginning and end of our stay in Greece. Very helpful staff and nice rooms. We were upgraded to a junior suite on our second stay with a very nice balcony on the 5th floor with Acropolis views. We did not have a car in Athens, so, I cannot comment on parking, but, I think there may... More

This hotel has an excellent location; our room was comfortably large with a small balcony. Room was nicely appointed, bathroom was packed with everything you may possibly need. Decent breakfast. The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Fast and secure wi-fi. Great overall experience.

As so many of the reviews say, the location for this hotel is perfect if you want to see the sights in the Acropolis area. You couldn't ask for a better location, just steps from the new Acropolis Museum, and easy walking distance to many wonderful sites (and the Plaka). The hotel staff was very helpful, providing directions and recommendations... More

I stayed here with my partner for 3 nights in march this year. Location - Perfect Room - The bed was comfy, room was a good size, nice bathroom. My only one complaint that did annoy me was the air con wasn't turned on in the building yet (turns on in april) which meant at night the room got really... More

Hera Hotel is located literally at the heart of Athens. The museum, Plaka and the Acropolis are all walking distance from the hotel. Literally around 5 minutes walk. The hotel itself is ok. The room's design is old school but it is clean. The beds are comfortable too. I would recommend visitors to hang out at the hotel's rooftop at... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
