Did a 1 nighter here before heading out to the islands. Arrived really late , aound 3am so basically headed off to sleep. The hotel is super central and you can walk to plaka and the all sights if you need. Clean and had a...More
What a great hotel, central for everything and great views from the roof top bar. Very friendly and helpful staff. Its easy if you going to the airport. Come out of Monastiraki square metro station and turn left up Athinas street and the hotel is...More
Great location 2 min walk from metro that goes straight to the airport. Close to just about everything and in a perfect spot for cheeky wee bars and eateries. Room facing street was still quiet. Spacious for a city room with nice bathroom. Good quiet...More
I have to be truthful, I was a bit worried upon driving up to the hotel as the area seemed a bit sketchy. We had traveled through Greece for 2 weeks and I did not fear once until our last evening in Athens. The hotel...More
The Attalos is my go-to hotel whenever I am in Athens. I've stayed here a dozen times at least over the span of four or five years. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and simply, but well-apportioned. The bathrooms have been updated over the past several...More

Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.

I do know that Everest, which is about 1 1/2 blocks away to your right as you exit the hotel never closes. You'll be limited there to spinach pies, savory cheese pies, and a handful of sandwiches. Just a little further are a number of sit-down restaurants but I'm not sure how late they're open on a Sunday night. How are you getting to the hotel, by a private transfer service? If so, then your best bet is to ask the driver to stop somewhere. You might be limited to souvlaki sandwiches on a Sunday night though, other than Everest.
It took about 20-25 minutes to get from Port to the hotel. We used a travel agency (Aegean Thesaurus) and hired a driver through the agency. It was 20 euros for 3 of us.

I am not sure the metro is completely safe at any time. I was recently robbed (pickpocket) as I was getting on the metro at Piraeus at 15.00 in the afternoon. That was only half an hour after I caught a guy with his fingers in my trouser pockets in the crowded ticket hall, as I was queuing to use the ticket machine! he just melted into he crown as I remonstrated. And don't expect the police to be sympathetic. When I reported the theft to the Athens Tourist Police they aggressively tried to persuade me that my wallet was 'lost' not 'stolen', presumably because they wanted to protect their statistics. They made me wait more than an hour as they typed out a short report.
