The hotel is small but very clean and at a great location. The view of Acropolis from the roof is amazing. The breakfast is basic but good enough. The best thing is very friendly and helpful staff who make sure they guide you as best as possible. Overall it is very good value for the money.

We drove to Athens from Corfu so we needed a car parking space, this hotel has a space right outside. The location of this hotel was brilliant to walk to the sites, restaurants, bars etc. We had a lovely room with amazing views from the balcony. The bed was very comfortable, the room was nicely decorated and we would definitely...

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of 10 days in Greece. Super friendly staff, great location, and a terrific view of the Acropolis made up for the tiny room and slightly musty feel. Would stay here again for the decent price and central location, but there are lots of places to choose from.

We booked over internet. Was more than expected. We had an acropolis view from our balcony room # 307 ! Our flight arrived at 9 am, they allowed us to check in when we arrived, it was in October a little slower than other times of year. There breakfast was excellent. All staff at hotel was friendly and professional. There...

Yes, the view--especially at night from the terasse--is amazing, and the location is not too bad if you don't mind walking several long blocks. My room was on the first floor and was a little larger, but opened into a below-ground area. I wanted to open the windows but was afraid cats or critters might come in! The bed was...

This hotel is so close to the Acropolis and all the other attractions nearby, such as Socrates prison seven seat place Parthenon etc. Athens has a good transport system easy enough to get around on. We had the basic room but still had a nice enough view but no balcony. There is a rooftop view anyway. Breakfast ok continental style....

Clean hotel, friendly staff, comfortable beds, stunning views, fantastically placed near many great tavernes. We even got help from our friendly receptionist printning out our boarding pass. An all round enjoyable experience.

The hotel was very clean, though rooms were a bit small. The hotel's view and location, though! WOW. It is right at the base of Acropolis Hill and the terrace on the roof is SPECTACULAR. The value of this hotel is really great! It's not luxury, but it was clean, nice, reasonably updated & very close to Plaka as well.

Not too big, close to Acropolis and to Plaka, very nice hotel. The staff always helpful. With a group of 20 people we had wonderful time in Athens, partly thanks to the hotel. That's why I was twice in the same hotel.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
