Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.

A small, inexpensive hotel in a great location. Short walk to the sites near the Acropolis and close to the Monastiraki metro station and square. Nothing fancy, clean and well maintained older building. Breakfast is good, staff is friendly. If looking for a place to comfortably rest after a busy day in the city this is perfect. Gets excellent rating because of value for the money, not because of luxury.

This is my home-away-from home while and whenever I stay in Athens, and I have exclusively chosen this place for my hotel stay no less than a dozen times. The rooms are small, but they are clean and comfortable, and I always feel cared for by the staff. It is close to the metro and Plaka, so it is in an ideal location. I love Cecil Hotel!

A character hotel with an old school feel about it including the vintage lift and winding stairwell. Location was great on a busy street with plenty going on. The location is superb, just a couple of minutes to Monasteraki Metro for a Piraeus or airport transfer. Pleasant 15 minute walk to Acropolis, 5/10 minutes to the Agora, Hadrian's library etc. Breakfast was included, which was a bonus and there are plenty of shops, kiosks and restaurants nearby.

Well not bad location very short distance to Monastiraki Flea market. Couldn’t move out to the balcony the air cons fan was on there. Loved the big doors front entrance and to the rooms and balcony, it has a great stair case all the way up and great old style lift. Loved that! The room was very tiny two single beds a small dresser and no mini fridge in the room it was outside and shared. The room very small to fit everything in there. Bathroom shower head holder was broken so you had to hold it with one hand and shampoo your hair with the other if you wanted continues water running. 🤣😂( shower holder like a telephone shower head), well the light fitting I thought was going to fall during the night it was just hung on! I can say they had a big cupboard with an extra pillow and blanket and a very small television. Maybe these little things should be looked at before hiring the room out. No bin only in the bathroom. The bathroom was very small couldn’t completely open the door because of the sink. Very badly designed. If a larger person was in this room they would be very frustrated because they would not be able to fit, let alone move around in there. (Tight for us) Terrible.

A more than adequate, economical hotel within walking distance of the acropolis, Olympic stadium, agora and several other historic sites. It’s not a Hilton, but Hilton’s extra amenities are not needed if you interested in exploring Athens.
