Very comfortable hotel in a very convenient location to explore Athens. Get directions from the management to the hotel if you are planning to walk there for the first time. It is not easy to spot, particularly at night. An easy walk from the Metro

Room was small but satisfactory. 3 minutes walking distance to Ermou street and Monastraki subway station. 5 min. walking to Psirri . Overall very satisfactory for the price. 10 minutes walking distance to Omonia square.

I looked for an inexpensive hotel in Athens from which my wife and I could explore the sights of Athens and found this one. We stayed for six nights in October. The hotel is very conveniently, located being only a short walk from Monastriaki Metro station. The hotel is a period building with interesting features and an antique lift. It... More

Summary We were four people staying at Cecil hotel for two nights, during October 2015. The location was just perfect for exploring Athens by foot for two days. The staff were nice and friendly, the hotel itself was very basic, but pretty much what we expected. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a budget hotel in... More

Very central Athens (just up the road from Monastiraki station), easy to get to all of Athens sights from. By hanging out the balcony window, I could almost, just see the Parthenon :-) Cecil has an old world charm with an ace dated elevator with the metal grill doors that goes up the centre of the building. Paid only 55... More

If you need a clean room with minimum comfort for a short stay, this is your place. Situated near the center, it has a strategically good position. International breakfast is served, personnel is kind. Sometimes we noticed some differences on prices between locals and foreigners, for the second ones having to pay a bit more without knowing.

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighborhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
