Located next to the Syntagma Square, about two minute walk, and about 15 minute walk to the Acropolis. Very well maintained, and farily modern. Good sized rooms that is not too small, even though not spacious either. Bathroom is a bit tiny, the shower cubicle will not allow you to move freely. Great staff though, very friendly and helpful. Not... More

Excellent location next to the parliament and 2 minutes walking away from syntagma area which is a main attraction and a beautiful walking and shopping area. Friendly staff. Breakfast is superb. Wide variety of food for breakfast. Greek coffee available where you can fix it on your own with the heated sand. It was a junior suite beautiful view and... More

I stayed two nights in Athens at Amalia Hotel on the end of my trip to Greece. Granted, I enjoyed some amazing hospitality in the islands, but I felt as if Amalia hotel was just okay. The rooms were clean and adequate, but the carpeting in the hallway was worn and stained. The location is excellent, just adjacent to Syntagma... More

Good: - Central location close to heart of Athens. Everything at walking distance - Rooms are clean - Staff are great, experienced and all helpful - Nice breakfast buffet Otherwise: No complaints actually !! The first impression when you see the hotel from the outside is that it looks small and traditional. This is a 4 star hotel and not... More

Good room and shower - both bedroom and bathroom very large and clean - comfortable mattress, ok breakfast - I didn't like any of the breads - stunning views from the balcony, good parking lot. Not charming, but just what we needed for one night.

All the staff except for one were very friendly and helpful. I found that there was no kettle in the room so I went down to ask for one. I was told, very rudely and in a loud voice that they would NOT provide a kettle in the room. This was most upsetting as I had not been rude. I... More

This was a very nice hotel with a friendly, accommodating staff. The breakfast bar was quite good with many options. Our room was spacious. The beds, however, were not terribly comfortable and the carpeting was worn. All in all, would stay again, but hopefully as the economy improves, they can have some updates.

We stayed in Amalia hotel for one night on our layover in Athens. All of the staff members were amazing. Our flight arrived to Athens early in the morning so we went to the hotel only hoping to leave the bags until check-in time so we can roam around the city for a while. Without even asking them, they were... More

Clean room, great breakfast. For an overnight stay we enjoyed our visit to Amalia Hotel. It was close enough for a walk to dinner and the Acropolis and a block from the train station. Breakfast was a delicious buffet. While the room was small and the window view was of a wall, it was clean and quiet. I would stay... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
