We were only in Athens for three nights, and wanted to cover a lot of ground. The location of the Electra Palace is great. Close to the acropolis/Parthenon, museum, shops and restaurants. Walking distance to the metro and the parliament building with the changing of the guard. The rooms are small, and somewhat pricey, but luxury linens, and toiletries made... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at the Electra Palace before boarding boarding a Mediterranean- bound cruise ship. We arrived at the hotel in the middle of the night to a welcoming reception and beautiful room overlooking the Acropolis. We took advantage of the rooftop pool and bar and enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet both... More

We were only at Electra Palace for 1 night but it was a great start to our honeymoon! the staff was extremely friendly and the location of the hotel is fantastic. Right in the heart of Athens and a 10 minute walk to the acropolis. We enjoyed dinner on the rooftop patio at the hotel with views of the acropolis... More

Hotel was gorgeous and staff was extremely helpful. If you stay you have to dine at the rooftop restaurants. The food is phenomenal and so is the view of acropolis! Loved my stay. Would definitely stay again!

The Athens Electra Palace Hotel is an elegant five star property located in the desirable Plaka district of the city. We had a junior suite that had a separate bedroom and living space in the corner of the third floor of the low rise section of the building. Both rooms had french doors that opened to the courtyard below with... More

We had Classic rooms booked, I fancied superior room with balcony so upgraded when hotel made one available, bad mistake! Paid an extra 100 Euros per night for a good view of neighbouring air-conditioning units and a poorer view of the Acropolis. My advice would be to stay with Classic rooms and enjoy the views from the pool/bar/restaurant area on... More

The hotel location is perfect, with great views of the acropolis from the rooftop pool and restaurant. The hotel itself is very nice and clean, but has a very strong fragrance smell and a bit outdated. Although there were some staff members at the front desk that were a bit rude, overall the staff was nice and accommodating. It was... More

We stayed here for a long weekend prior to taking a cruise through the Greek islands. The location was great, within walking distance to the Plaka, the pedestrian shopping area around Ermou street, and Syntagma Square. The hotel is small, but beautifully decorated on a quiet side street near several cafes. The room was well-appointed with robes, slippers, mini-fridge, coffee... More

This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed here and I can definitely recommend it. The location is great, within walking distance of most of the major attractions, and if you are able to get a room with a view of the Acropolis it is well worthwhile. The breakfasts are also very good. All in all... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
