We stayed at the Electra Palace for 3 nights at the start of our honeymoon in Greece. Upon our arrival we discovered that we had been upgraded to the Presidential Suite as a congratulatory gift- I cannot stay enough great things about this suite! We had a large, private balcony and pool; luxurious sitting room and bedroom- all with direct...

We stayed two nights to celebrate a wedding anniversary and loved the central location (short walk to the Acropolis) and the amazing rooftop pool. The staff was helpful and discrete, and the buffet breakfast features an array of options to start out the day. The rooms are spacious. Ask for a quiet room on fourth floor to avoid street noise...

My family and I loved this hotel. We stayed here two nights at the beginning of our trip to Greece and were very pleased with the comfortable room and great pool area. The location can't be beat. After traveling to three of the islands we planned to return for another day. After many transpo problems we didn't arrive until 3:00 AM!...

We stayed one night here and thought it was a lovely hotel. The front desk staff are very accommodating and friendly. We had one of the larger rooms, and had an amazing view of the Acropolis from our balcony. It is close to the Acropolis and museum. They recommended a great restaurant nearby for dinner. The breakfast in the garden...

My wife and I have always wanted to travel to Greece to experience the city of Athens and the Islands. We selected Electra Palace Hotel after seeing it recommended by some of our friends and reviewing the reviews on line. We booked in January and arrived in May to find the staff and hotel exactly as advertised. We were early...

This was our first time in this hotel and we were very happy to have made the choice. Amazing views of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, ambient lobby and reception, excellent breakfast, plenty of outdoor spaces (breakfast and pool areas), clean rooms, pretty much what you would expect from a true 5 star experience. Staff were highly professional and polite...

Hotel is on Syntagma Square, so it is hard to find another hotel that so close to all attractions (Plaka, Kolonaki, Parliament, Ermou St, Monastraki, Acropolis.) But hotel is very old, bathrooms, carpets, wallpapers need a good renovation. Also walls are paper thin, you can hear your next room's conversations easily. Everyday we woke up with next rooms alarm clock....

The location was excellent: two blocks from Plaka and four blocks from the Acropolis. The room was very comfortable and clean and the included breakfast was adequate. The staff went out of their way to help me with any needs: taxis, directions, recommended restaurants. You can't do better!

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
